He was already on a yellow.
Nah was talking about them going on about the first tackle. My commentors kept trying to argue that it should have been a straight red as it could have broken his leg.

I wouldn't have had any problem with Rafael getting the second yellow and being off as a result of that

He has been more involved than most of the rest of your team.
I think Jones has done well at times too, Jones, Fellaini pretty much, De Gea has had his back against the wall the entire season with the rest of the squad being so bad.

Its time to drop RVP.
There's an issue when a player can only pass the ball to someone with similar attributes to himself. Often RVP, Rooney and Mata find themselves in that situation

Bollocks. Of course it was a penalty. And yes he should be off. But the idea that he actively sought to handle the ball is nonsense. He gets done and it hits his hand. He even moves it away.

We've lost this game already to be honest. Unless an individual moment of brilliance rescues us a point... Moyes is unimaginative, cautious and dull, it's in his DNA.
Agreed. I just can't see how Moyes and co will turn this around. I'm really hoping that at the end of the match I'm sitting here looking like an Idiot with all my anti-moyes comments - but somehow I really doubt it.

Football, bloody hell.
If you were inspired by that performance and the manager then all the power to you, and I'll have what you're having.
Nah, I don't need to be inspired every 45 minutes not to throw the towel in. I use my brain and memory to see how many good players we have out there and come to the conclusion that it's probably worth playing the second 45 minutes rather than surrendering.

The old man in the Barclay's ad is more mobile than most of our players have been today.

England:
It's probably the first time I'd have to say he's genuinely being let down by his team...well primarily that front four. If it isn't miscontrol it's taking an age to pass or not pass at all, if it's not standing still it's being brushed off the ball.

Liverpool's back four isn't even good! They win games because of their attack and intensity in midfield but we've not played with the tempo to test their back four and that is the problem. Moyes has sent his best eleven out and is clearly telling players to bomb on forward when possible but they're simply not.
It was obvious after the first 5-10 minutes that the team was set up completely wrong yet the manager did nothing to change it.

I'd personally blame both the manager and players for that first half performance.

Let's see if Moyes has the bottle to sub RVP out at half time.

Probably.

But they've looked like a much better team. The league standings are reflected by what we've seen today.
Yes, that's true but it's not been a ravaging or anything, they wouldn't be up other for a moment of madness. So where the idea they've been all over us has come from, that's beyond me. They've had decent control, some decent passing phases and attacks. But we had a few moments as well.

Early stats were activity across the pitch was totally even.

Nope, just uninspired by another dull performance and our managers lack of ability to set up a side to attack.
At least you already know the result and can go off and do something else now, eh?

Wake up. He deliberately reaches out because he knows Suarez is past him.

Just as a note on Liverpool, it pains me to say it, but they've been fantastic. Rodgers (the utter cnut) has made them into a very good side.

The handball rule baffles me.

If you give a penalty, the handball has to be deliberate, does it not? By deliberate, the rule actually means that the player has to have ample opportunity to evade contact with the ball or to not place his hand in an odd position.

Deliberate handball is punishable with a yellow card, which surely means Rafael should be off?

For what it's worth, it struck me as being a moment of panic and it wasn't really intentional in a cynical way so I'm glad it was just a penalty and a ticking off. Clattenburg got it right in terms of common sense but I'm not sure he actually followed the rules.
Yeah the rule says its only a handball if its deliberate. So giving the foul and no card because it wasn't deliberate makes no sense whatsoever.

They don't help themselves with people not understanding the rule when they don't enforce it consistently. The rule appears to somehow apply differently when you are inside the penalty box too.

You're fecking joking surely. The guy is utterly useless and his oaf-like clumsiness should have resulted in a penalty. He can't run. He's a midfield who cannot run. Or move.
Take a lie down because that's meltdown material. He really hasn't been so bad. Certainly better than Carrick.

Liverpool don't have better players they have better confidence, cohesion and momentum.

I was happy with uniteds lineup but it has to be remembered that Fellani, mata and januzi are three new players starting from last season. Liverpool have an extremely settled team and are on the up! Confidence and team cohesion can outclass individual talent and very often does.

The usual sense of excitement I got before the game was not really representative of my true feelings. In truth, I had no reason to expect united to just somehow click into gear today.

Cheers, its not all that mad to see noway back for us in this game. Especially with our unimaginative manager. But give him time... :nervous:

From Jones and Rafael? They motivate themselves. Too much in Rafael's case
Well I don't think motivation is a problem at all. I think confidence and a lack of cohesion are the main factors. The hilarious thing is that people scream for this "attacking front four" when they don't play but now they do, Moyes can't motivate them apparently

Think Fellaini has been decent enough, Gerard hit him with a hell of a smack with his dome, most blokes would be out for the count on one of those.

I do hope that Rafael matured those 15 minutes and doesn't get himself in the fecking trouble, God please, help him.

Can't say I'd entertain the idea of Valencia at RB.
