What will it take to sack moyes?

I've stuck with Moyes until now, partially because he's our manager and secondly because I think a lot of the criticism he gets on here is completely over-the-top and unwarranted but at this stage if he was sacked tomorrow it'd probably be a relief. I still don't go in for the histrionics and the accusations of tactical ineptness etc. that are abound on here, he beat or drew against us enough times to prove that he's perfectly capable in that respect.

If being a great manager was just about knowing your football Moyes would be a great manager. Unfortunately for him however, there's a huge mental aspect to the game and he completely lacks the aura that made United teams play out of their skins for Fergie and opponents fear playing against him. I think half the job at this club in the post-Fergie era is being convincing and commanding respect and that's where Moyes completely falls short.

I've got a feeling his time is up, there's surely no chance he's getting another season not to mention £150m to spend. If the board back him I'd have to question them as well, this is beyond ridiculous now.

Outside Lou Macari's with a can of strongbow.
Lost to Liverpool, City and Everton twice.

Lost to Spurs and scraped a point at WHL.

Lost to Chelsea and played a drab 0-0 at Old Trafford.

Took 4 points off Arsenal.

Celebrated a lucky draw against Munich like it was a massive achievement before folding like a pack of cards in Germany.

Moyes living up to his "can't beat the big teams" reputation.

Sack him tomorrow.

There's nothing more for him to do. If we win all our remaining games we'll finish 7th, if we lose them we'll finish 7th.

If he's not gone tomorrow, it's official, he's gonna be given £200m in the summer to finish us off for decades.

Can someone confirm it's true that seventh might qualify for the Europa? I'm guessing that's the kind of lowest bar the hierarchy will set.

Honestly it doesn't matter how many games we lose, what kind of players we go for in the summer or players we actually manage to get Moyes will be given next season and then when it blows up in our face he'll walk away with a big pay packet. I hate how the media let him get away with every defeat while saying its the players fault, great managers can make good players play great or get poor players to lift their game. Moyes takes good players and make them awful but he needs time to get his own players in.

Also i read somewhere that if Moyes leaves during a season we have to pay out big but if its at a seasons close its a lot smaller. If that is the case i can see us having him for next season unless the United board pull the finger out and get rid as soon as the season is over.

He's had a whole season to make things happen I think his time has finally run out. This team has no character barely created any chances in the entire game.

I think if Everton finish 4th, Arsenal win the FA cup, then 6th and 7th in the PL will enter the EL (I'm not sure of this). If Arsenal finish 4th then Hull as FA cup winners or losing finalists will get a EL place, as well as 5th and 6th in the PL. The key is that the FA cup winners get a EL place but if they already have a CL place then their EL place goes to the FA cup losing finalists.

It's true. If Arsenal finish 5th and win the FA Cup, 6th and 7th placed teams in the PL will go to Europa.

Thanks. So it looks unlikely then.

Players really aren't playing for him are they.
Manchester United have traditionally been pretty average when we've had nothing to play for (see the tail end of last season after the title was won). It's probably too much to expect for a group of players who for the most part don't rate/like Moyes to bust their guts when their only reward is the possibility of saving his job for another year, and perhaps, Europa League football.

If this doesn't do it, then I don't know what will. Can't even motivate the team to attack and do anything. We didn't even trouble the GK. FFS!

Unfortunately, I think Sir Alex's influence and stubborn nature means he'l get till Dec anyways. He's one lucky cnut though.

think SAF has washed his hands...he is off to Harvard is he not?

If teh stories are true that the Europa Cup is the minimum expextation then he is gone. I doubt we will wait to Dec. Either he has next season or he is gone this summer.

tbh I would prefer one of the ex players to be the next manager if we cannot get atop manager... I hate Van Gaal. Perhaps Ole or Keane or a Ole G Neville joint managership.

I want Moyes out at the end of the season but I'm struggling to envisage this actually happening.

Does anyone honestly believe that he'll be sacked at the end of the season?

He just doesn't seem to be under pressure and I think he has been given assurances that he isn't, either that or he is just blissfully unaware that he could be sacked.

There were no positives today and probably the only real positive for the season is januzaj showing his potential and getting some games. Moyes now has a huge job just to lift the negative atmosphere at the club and restore confidence. He has failed to motivate this group of players and I can't see how he can turn that round, he can bring in his own players but so far the 2 he has brought in haven't made a difference so what good will another 3 or 4 do. Realistically he needs 7-8 new players to have any chance of turning this round but that is unrealistic and the chance of that being successful is remote. The advantage of a new manager is he could bring in his own players and get more out of this squad and that is why the board should sack him ASAP but it looks like the board have already decided to keep him no matter what.

Unfortunately I don't. Fergie will get his way and we all know how stubborn the man is. I just hope he is right in his judgement about Moyes and he can turn it around next season. I have little hope though.

3 home games now with nothing to play for and no real cause for the supporters to get behind. The best Moyes can hope for is a flat atmosphere. Bad results could see the first signs of dissent inside the stadium.

I am beginning to believe that the only way Moyes can get sacked is if he got in front of a camera and insulted the Glazer family one by one.

If today's performance(along with all the other shit from this season) does not get him sacked, then nothing will.

There is a good chance he fulfills the contract. 6 seasons of hell.

I have more belief that he'll be sacked at the end of the season than being sacked now. I just can't fathom the United Chiefs not putting in a clause that allows us to sack him after a terrible season. The only way to activate such a clause is to wait till the end of the season.

We'll beat Norwich comfortably and all will be well. Rooney will score 2, and get an assist and Moyes will tell us all how brilliant we are and how we are looking forward to fighting it out for top 4 next season.

It's the same pattern over and over. Mata and Kagawa will play some nice football against someone with nothing to play for, who give us all the time in the world, and people will delude themselves into thinking something has changed. Over and over and over again.

Norwich is in a relegation battle so they definitely have something to play for.

So another record broken by Dave today.

First time we have been beaten home & away by everton since 1969-70 which was Wilf McGuinness's first season in charge.

Don't you just love the little ironic coincidences football continually throws up.

I don't think he has any chance of lasting for 6 years but can see him being here another year maybe even two at a push. I don't think there is any chance he will be sacked this season, aside from SAF there is no-one at the club with enough football knowledge to offer an alternative view on moyes or guide the owners on who should replace him and that is the only reason he is still here, don't think the club knows what else to do.
