I can't wait to read the Spanish press if Spain do go out in this fashion.
They are even more innovative than the British press in finding ways to humiliate their teams and crazy frontpages.

Hardly shocking now though, is it? Barca almost got an embargo lately, because of all their dodgy transfer dealings.
Yeah, suppose it all makes sense when you think about it. God knows how long they've been pulling this crap for.

Del bosque really fecked it up in this tournament, look at that bench, have some balls man, it's still not too late.

Dortmund this season or last season? We improved immensely when he came back from injury this year and he was great vs Bayern over the two legs. He has been our second best player after Ronaldo over the last 5 years.
This season, the second leg when Casillas kept you in it.

He had some great games but his ratio of good:bad games is awful now, he can't cope with being pressed and is consistently reckless with his tackles now.

This WC has been a feast. ridiculous.

Yea but can we go back to Xavi now? Are people suggesting his entire childhood has been covered up?

Looks like Spain have lost all their motivation. You can hardly blame them, these group of players have won everything that needs to be won.

What a generation of players it was though. Torres, Villa, Iniesta, Xavi, Alonso, Ramos, Puyol etc all World Class in their prime.

Best group of players ever produced.

Somewhat similar to France in 2002.

Not really. It's happened several times before.
But not after a team has pretty much been the dominating side in world football for six years. France's win was heavily supported by the Brazil - Ronaldo affair, who were the best team at that time and Italy went out against Spain in the Euros, could hardly be considered favourites in 2010.

You literally couldn't pick a worse team in the entire tournament to be 2-0 down to with your fate resting on 45 minutes of football. Chile's energy will out-match Spain's in the 2nd half and they're more likely to punish them further than concede.

Are people still wondering why both Mourinho and Ancelotti both dropped Casillas for Diego Lopez? He is finished at the highest level as are a few of their other players.
Hard to drop a name like Casillas. After that bollock he dropped in the European Cup final, Del Bosque should have been asking questions but there you go. It will make it harder for Spain's defenders if they have to look over their shoulders every time the Chileans press high up.

What is? Also the reason spain were not destroying teams in 2010 was because the tiki taka system was so difficult to cope with that teams had to change their entire approach to cope with it and play very defensive and deep. If that is not the sign of respect and fear of a system then I do not know what is. If teams in 2010 played their normal game vs spain they would have won much more convincingly. This is a Madrid fan standing up for barcas style of play btw.
Total football ;) . Playing deep is not a sign of respect it is more of a counter play, like Mourinho against the scousers, it is about countering the other teams play and if playing defensive with counters does that, that's what must be done. Paraguay had as many chances as Spain back then and could of won the match despite the possession stat. At euro 12 I saw some teams mainly France play with fear however, sit back but not counter and I think this help extend Spain's rein of terror. Now that fear is done, combined with Xavi being finished means no more tika taka.

I think the Madrid team have spent too long partying. Most of their players are having a difficult time at this world cup

Have to say I wasn't convinced by Sanchez initially when he signed for Barcelona, but the last 12 months he's been great. Superb pass in the build up for that first goal.

I hope De Gea is after the world cup the new number one. And Del Bosque will be gone, too?

This WC so far is down to Del Bosque, than the Spanish squad at his disposal.

They needed to manage the transition and he has been caught off the curve sticking to his tried and tested players who are now declining.

What are you on about? He was one of Madrid's best players this season. They looked a completely different team without him in the Final.

How low the mighty have truly fallen.

Alonso needs to come off, he's been atrocious.

These Chilean boys are not too shabby. If they win this, they might go a long way in this tournament.
In a way it's a shame both Chile and Holland will already have qualified by the time they meet. It would have been interesting to see them both go at it. Now it's likely both will rest players and prepare for the next round.

Seriously, though De gea should of started this world cup. It's just Del bosquet is too sentimental to the old timers.

Spain need a new manger.

I'm sure the record books will record Xavi as a Chilean. He's a fecking plastic Spaniard. :D
 Too true. Be interesting if he ever released an autobiography whether he'd speak of growing up in Chile.

Who would you start instead?

Thiago and Jese are injured. He's dropped Xavi and Pique. Costa and Azpilicueta are new additions to the team.

Has nothing to do with the manager. The team has just lost motivation.

Costa is a shocker of a signing for Chelsea. I can't believe they fell for the hype it's been obvious watching him this season that he has serious deficiencies. In the last couple of years they could have had Falcao, Cavani or Lewandowski and they've ended up with Diego Costa .

Not sure about that, whoever finishes 2nd is likely to play Brazil. They may not have been brilliant in the tournament so far but I don't think you'd want to face the hosts of the World Cup in the 1st knock out round.

The 2006 winners went out in first round too
France in 2002 as well after winning the World Cup and Euro's. It's really not that shocking. Football goes in cycles and Xavi's decline is essential. Casillas was obviously key as well.
