Anyone know the fee? With us signing Shaw, which I think is a done deal, then there was no way we needed a third choice LB, he had to go unfortunately.
Evra will only stay for another year though so he'd only be 3rd choice for this year, and if we sold him we'll be forced to find another backup in a years time. If we wanted to we could still try to loan him out to another premiership club to see how he fares/progresses. If he does well he could come back and be 2nd choice again, if he doesn't then find someone else, we don't really have anything to lose by giving him a chance IMO. I do have a soft spot for him as do like his style and commitment and one thing that I really love about United has been our ability to find these players such as Vidic, Evra and Chicharito who come out of the blue to become stars. I feel like United's a club that's had a special relationship to it's players and I don't want that to change although I realise that it may have to.

Evra might decide to extend his contract again, He's getting to the age where he's not gonna be 1st choice at any big club so why not play back up for another season and retire here, he certainly seems to love the club. Even if he leaves we have Reece James in reserves who I think is capable to play as back up.

I believe that any youngster who is not playing at a high level should not stay with us even if it is just to go out on loan.
Staying with us generally means rotting on the bench and not being given enough playing time to truly improve and maximize their potential.

He isn't terrible but not good enough for us. Also while his Bayern performance was not bad it wasn't anywhere as impressive as ppl make it out to be. Yes he defended "well" which means he cleared the ball BUT a lot of times he gave it directly to a Bayern player after his clearances which immediately put us under pressure again.

Be interested how much we got for him, if anything.

Wish him all the best and hope he has a good career.

Yeah, I wonder if it will be the old 'undisclosed fee' when it is made public. My guess is that it'll be £2-3 million. Yeah, I've no reason not to wish him well though I have to say I'm glad he has gone. Nowhere near United quality in my opinion.

When selling during the WC is no problem I'm sure buying shouldn't be one neither. We should slowly start to reach that stage

hmmmm very interesting development.

I have very little faith in Woody, but the 'deals might have already been agreed behind closed doors' brigade might be smiling a little brighter now that Büttner is packing his bags. No way would United sell a LB unless a new signing was secured, or very close to being.
This seems to have been wrapped up quite easily and quietly. Miranda has come as a new link very quickly too, so maybe Woody will surprise us with a few back to back deals in early July.

I hope he didn't bang his arse on the door on his way out. Might have lowered the price.

He looked like a Liverpool player with all the tattoos and general uglyness. I won't be missing him.

Good news. We are definitely getting a LB or some cover there then.

No worries
If his time at United is anything to go by, he still won't be playing in the CL, even for Dynamo Moscow.
