What a f*cking player.

Straight swap for Dave?
Jk but who's gonna buy him, surely he won't stay at Levante?

Cracking game from him tonight, will be a good replacement for Courtois if/when Atletico tie a deal up.

He was in a couple of best XI of the season in La Liga, and quite a lot of La Liga fans I know have said he's the best keeper in the league ahead of Courtois. I've certainly not been disappointed with him in the World Cup.

Been one of the standout goalkeepers in the tournament. Actually thought he was a bit suspect in the shoot-out for the first three, as he made his intentions known too soon. Stunning save for the fourth however.

He was sensational this season in La Liga. Had a few wonder performances, even against the top 3 in the league.

Think Barcelona were looking at him but were put off by the large fee.

Marca are certain he's going to Real, and Navas did admit that "things are moving along" recently. Judging by his WC performances and how highly Spanish fans rate him, he'd be a fantastic signing.

Will he be their number one keeper? Also, are they getting rid of Casillas?

Not sure about whether he'd be first choice. Diego López is rumoured to be leaving though, not Iker.

He'd do better going to a Spanish club which is a level above Levante rather than go to a team to sit on the bench.

He'd start for Real ahead of either Casillas or Lopez you'd imagine ?

Or if Lopez moves then same arrangement as last season of League and CL.

He is the best keeper in the league and their current #1 came straight from Sevilla's bench (after moving from relegated Villareal) so I can't see why you think he'd be on the bench.

Nah Casillas is the one meant to be leaving. Diego Lopez will stay.

I agree the plan may be for Casillas to leave but Diego might be easier and cheaper to kick out. Both players are same age (32, 33) with 3 more years contract but Casillas earns 8m per season compared to Diego's 4m, and Casillas is in horrible shape and has been a sub for more than a season.

You sure? I'm a bit out of the loop in transfer news at the minute but last I heard Diego López was being touted around to the likes of Napoli. No progress in that then or was it just not credible in the first place?

Yep his agent came out and said he won't be moving whatever happens & Napoli stopped pursuing him. Casillas is the one who's being touted round to clubs now apparently, dunno where he'll end up though.

Good signing for them, based on his World Cup form, he's a quality keeper.. didn't see any Levante last season so cant comment on his La Liga form but from the posts above, he was very good..

I've heard the reports about Lopez, and I would be inclined to agree with them, I mean Lopez to leave rather than Iker, I just don't think Real will ever sell him.. Club legend and all that.. Big influence around the Bernabeu.

Although to be honest, he should be leaving based on form, but I can't see it.

Just a side note on RM and Gks, David de Geas contract situation should be an absolute priority for our club.. Madrid would be of course in for him.

Apparently Casillas has asked Madrid if he can leave transfer free. Hope it's made up bollocks though

The club he is being linked with the most is arsenal. Winning La Decima is not a bad way to go out. It would have felt weird for it to have been won without him.

Payday in Monaco maybe?
Who knows, altough if it was Monaco we wouldn't let him go for free seeing as we're after James. Surely he'd be included in the deal?

Yeah, heard this rumour too, will be sad to see him go wherever he goes. Altough this day had to come some day I guess, seeing as he still wants to be first choice at his club.

Indeed, what sort of fee would you expect bud? A negotiating tool anyway if your club decided to let him go.. Arsenal for me wouldn't be a viable option, I mean he's not really suited to the PL, I don't think he could play in Spain for another club from Reals and Ilkers point of view. Significant downgrade for the player considering Barca and AM would be automatically ruled out.. and he's too young/good to pursue the money spinning options yet.. I.e. America.

Not sure, I even know how much he has left on his contract. Can't be very long if those rumours are true. I don't think playing in the MLS for that new team Villa and Lampard signed for would be so bad for him tbh.

I could be wrong on this, but didn't he sign for a contract for a life a few years ago? If he plays a certain amount of games, the contract rolls on.

Casillas has contract until 2017, 3 more years. It was signed ages ago, when Calderón was the club president.

Ah I see. Seems a bit strange that he'd ask the club to leave on a free when he has 3 years left on his contract then.

If the gossip press is right, Casillas did a deal with Perez to leave free at the end of this coming season. However, he also is supposed to want assurances that he's "first choice" and with Navas (their potential longterm keeper) arriving his chances of a meaningful guarantee can't be good.

I guess it depends on who's buying/paying for the keeper who ends up leaving.

Incidentally Navas is expected to go from €250k/year to €2.5m (after tax) a year as part of the deal.

Raul also was on that type of contract aswell, so maybe Madrid would honour his wishes if Casillas is dead set on playing regularly, an agreement so to speak.. he would be on big wages, so Real might be tempted but to be honest I can't see it to be honest..

On a side note, in that article the last paragraph read..

"As a young boy, Casillas cost his parents 1 million after forgetting to post his dad's pool predictions on the weekend, his father correctly predicted all 14 scores"

Lucky he made it as a professional, otherwise there would have been some tension in the Casillas household!

They carried on paying part of Raul's wages for a while when he left. I doubt they'll do the same with Casillas, but paying him to sit on the bench for a year just means the Madrid crowd will be divided for another year. It's not been a nice atmosphere for Lopez, I doubt they'll want a repeat with Navas.

I think he recognises that he is no longer good enough to be the undisputed first choice, a status his reputation deserves so maybe feels that a fresh start in a less demanding environment (Arsenal, get top four and start booking your holidays) is a good option to exercise atm.
