There is a thread specifically made for comparing the two players, and there are two threads for discussing just the individuals. It's really not a hard thing to follow and no reason not to keep discussion in the relevant threads.

The reason being people can't follow a very basic system of keeping discussion in the relevant threads. There is no point in ruining this and the messi thread with messi vs ronaldo stuff every single game, when another thread exists for that very purpose.

I see the point you are trying to make by exaggerating, but the Ronaldo v Messi debate is a completely different beast than any other comparisons - and any debate will eventually be derailed or just descend into the same sillyness as always - which is why it would be far tidier to use the "vs" thread. Is this something we should get an executive ruling on perhaps?
It's not relevant in any other player thread. You don't see pages and pages of people comparing Robben, Bale, Rooney, Di Maria etc to others, with people having to look back 10 pages just to see what Ronaldo actually did that day to ignite the usual debate. We already know this, because we had to create a messi vs ronaldo thread several times before, as the exact same argument being spammed over game after game ruined the threads. We have a thread now for people looking to continue the messi vs ronaldo debate, so that's where those posts should go.

Is there a debate to be had out of that statement? I suppose I don't see the point in it requiring a response when you consider how many times it will be said. Many people believe Ronaldo is the best player in the world, many or more think Messi is. Those type of comments will usually come after either player does something great, which is basically every game, so I don't get what people think they will achieve by arguing the opposite when it obviously won't change any minds and the same thing will happen the next game anyway.
