It was never ever gonna be a great game of footie today lads. It's a slugfest at the Britannia, it always is. We're still in this.

I thought Evans was supposed to be our most experienced CB, he needs to stop faffin' about!

Our build up was very slow. Need to inject more pace. I dont think their full back can handle it. I think we miss Valencia and his killer pass/cross/shot/whatever-that-is today...

I think we have looked fairly decent on the ball and have largely been controlling the game. Wind has messed us about a fair bit, but it is slightly worrying that we have created so few chances. Defence has been a shambles, basically all of the CB have made school boy errors a number of times already. LVG needs to put a rocket up their arses.

Hopefully the wind helps us a bit more in the second half, at least it should stop our balls over the top running through for goal kicks or to the keeper.

Stoke are for the taking here, if we can get the 2nd goal we will win. Saw them played Arsenal few weeks back and they were pretty much hopeless when Arsenal start scoring.

So what have we actually created in 45 minutes? What a terrible half.
It's all well and good moaning but Stoke are an absolutely horrible side for anyone to play. Massive physical wankers who get away with everything and lump the ball about. Add the windy conditions to that and I'm not sure what you were expecting to be honest.

Falcao first touch is awful.. He needs to improve on that.

Diabolical defending from Shaw and Jones for that corner, both lost their men. Why the feck does Wayne try those holywood passes to the sides when there's a fecking tornado roaming around Britannia is beyond me as well. Falcao was diabolical untill his goal but I'm happy as feck that he got it, assist or goal every match he's started bar Tottenham iirc.

Wonder if Adnan will get any minutes today. I would like to see Rooney up top, Herrera coming on for someone.

We aren't bad at all, but we need to focus more on set pieces and be cautious of the wind to avoid making mistakes.

Think Smalling is doing the defending for both him and Evans. At times it is like watching Zamora bully Evans from a few years back all over again. As long as we don't run out of steam like we did against Spurs then I feel we have another goal in us. Stoke look dangerous and will be very challenging with the wind going their way in the second half.

I think when we play against the wind in 2nd half it will be very good for us, right now wind is making our passes look oer hit, last pass from shaw was underhit as he must have thought hitting it normally will take it out. The same reason balls are bouncing too much in our dfense as defenders expect the ball to be over hit but againstthe wind they stop and cause confusion.
If you have played football in windy conditions you will know how tough it is with wind and it becomes easier against wind. We are easily the best team, if we can play the same way we win easy.

We couldn't use the wind but Stoke will take full advantage of it

    RIP Phil Hughes
Shaw is a defensive beast. Two times he dispossessed his opponent and we hit them on the counter.
That was some of the worst defending from Evans I have seen.

I dont get why the Stokes keeper pointed finger at Van Persie. It was as if he's saying Van Persie did something similarly bad before that.

Its the condition guys - Think Second half would be better for us. my TV commentator keep saying United are all over the place when defending setpieces. He doesnt know what wind can do while defending setpieces. Even Rooney's long balls are just over the top.

except for Falcao playing as 9 1/2, I am happy with the half. I expect Mata or RVP to take that role and not Falcao esp when his first touch is this bad

Can imagine van Gaal shouting 'filoooosoofeeess!' at Evans' face right now.

Defensively, the 3-5-2 was successfully targeted by Stoke for much of the opening half hour. Young has been below the standards of recent weeks although you could argue that that is understandable given when he's deployed.

If we tire as we did against Spurs and the changes don't address that properly we'll concede i suspect. Whether we have a lead or enough of one by then...

Carrick's passing over the top will be a delight in this half. I expect us to score from at least one of them.

Yea most people say before this game ''Stoke is a tough place to go'', but during it, just complain about everything else.
Because it still shouldn't mean that stupidity from players is accepted.

Stoke look more likely to score, we have had a lot of the ball but it's all a bit slow and we aren't really creating anything.

At least we recovered OK from a bad start. Defence looks very shaky though. Need to create chances soon to kill this off.

Can't disagree with that. Our main problem has been defending not attack.
If not for a lack of alternatives, Evans would probably not be out there. I'd rather see Blackett or McNair on the pitch. I don't know what's been going on with Jonny. I'm still not sold on the 3-5-2 either, we've looked vulnerable in every game we've played it.
