We've been ok in possession without creating much. Tempo in the passing could be better.

Hopefully the defenders cope better this half.

Second half will be a lot better. Ball will hold up in the wind. Stoke will struggle.
    Why?

If they won the toss they obviously chose to kick this way as the wind behind them will favour them. I'm not looking forward to seeing our defenders flap over high balls that hang in the wind for ages.

We lack real pace and dribbling penetration up front. Can't wait for Di Maria to be back. Carrick has played some nice passes forwards and Smalling has been good.

Could see the RVP and Begovic situation brewing from the first 5 minutes

    Falcao, Smalling and Mata impressive.

Shaw, Evans and Jones could have looked better.

I'd take any sort of win from this game, Stoke is always a hard place to go so I'm not surprised that we aren't playing well (the wind probably factors into that as well mind).

Hopefully we'll nick it in the second half.

Good first half all things considered. We fell asleep in the first 2 minutes but recovered well. Most of the possession and control of the match has been by us.

The only real problem has been Evans who looks shaky as feck back there. Mistakes galore and he seems to have an annoying penchant for blaming his fellow defenders/goalkeepers whenever a mistake is made (which is usually his fault or at least partly). He will need to be replaced. Most likely in the summer. A good squad player but we will never win the league with him as a permanent fixture in our backline.

The conditions have made it so difficult for us to piece together any good chances though. Typical cold windy day at stoke. We just have to see if we get lucky in the second half and one of our strikers pulls off the matchwinner.

Since Falcao scored, Stoke have made us look almost decent by really doing nothing. Terrible game of football so far. Bonus: Smalling back, looks focused and sharp.
He's looked anything but sharp. Looks a second or two off the pace so far in his decision making. Some great tackles though.

We are impotent and so culpable in defense. For all of our passing and possession philosophy we look slow and labored and create no chances yet again. We have nobody with any pace to get behind their lines and nobody capable of taking a player on successfully.

Get Rafael or Herrera on for Evans, I'm sure Fletcher will be up to drive him to the airport.

We need something else on the wings. It's been proven that Young is useless on the right, I don't know why van Gaal keeps trying it the same way he places di Maria on the left side of the wing.

Awful half from us saved by a Falcao goal to get us level, the passing has been utterly crap from just about everyone.

When will Rojo be back? He and Smalling are probably our best pairing.

Evans is a liability and Jones is far to rash. Such a shame in the case of Jones as he has all the tools, just seems to lack the determination.

I think we will be better in the second half. The wind is helping them - all of our through/long balls are overhit, and they can hit theirs with all power and the wind will stop it at the appropriate moment. Carrick/Rooney/Mata will be more dangerous.

Pretty bad performance so far. Evans is a joke, but I like how Shaw's been playing.

Not too much. That's not to say he couldn't in the 2nd half though.
He's making runs but nobody feeds him. There's not much else he can do when our build-up play is poor.
