Yeovil are playing with a low defensive line and going long, one man up front. Is it really necessary for us to play 3 at the back and a low line? Time and time again our attackers have to drop into midfield to meet passes. Why not just stick another midfielder in there and try to play through the middle. We have tricky players who can one-two their way through. I dont get the tactics.

Look at the off the ball movement for us and you know why. Our players seem to be under-estimating Yeovil expecting to beat them without spending much energy.

I still expect us to up our game more in the second half.
..after we go out aginst these lot.

hope Fergie has left that hairdryer behind...Giggs and van Gaal better do something. and Rooney looks completely off. That always is a terrible sign.

Barely anybody in a red shirt seems to want to take the ball facing goal, and move forward. Against Yeovil! Every pass seems to result in a United player turning around and taking a step back. It's painfully slow build up play. No wonder Yeovil are pressing high. They are just jogging around and managing to press high.

The pundits were saying how Yeovil shouldn't bother trying to play football, but they all show for the ball and the first touch is nearly always a forwards one. They've been able to take the ball from the middle of the pitch into the final 3rd with pace. No excuses for us not being able to do that.

To their credit, Yeovil have played well. Lots of high balls, but their passing in midfield has been much better than ours, which is inexcusable.

Why the feck are we playing a counter attacking formation not even suiting our personnel vs Yeovil ?

    LVG can sometimes be rigid.

Agree with this but the numerous idiots on here tell you he's poor.
It's unbelievable. He's just a pleasure to watch and one of the few positives this season. Just hope he gets the chance to show his worth more over the next few weeks.

Playing with 3 central defenders would perhaps make a bit of sense if any of them were actually capable of passing the ball forward...

We don't need 3 at the back. Was obvious before a ball was kicked.

Add another player to the midfield and let's just beat them. One game away from the "preferred" formation won't hurt

Rooney, Herrera and Fletcher have been abysmal. The lack of movement from those 3 when our defenders have the ball means they can only hoof it.

Dodgy enough looking at the back, poor passing going on all over the pitch, very wasteful when it came to the few chances created and over all looking very clueless.

Well if you needed any evidence that 3-5-2 simply isn't working for us, that half is it. Shocking stuff.

If this was vs a more in-form league 1 side, we'd be losing. It's like watching the slowest, most boring car crash ever.

We are really playing 5 defenders and a holding midfielder (questionable hes playing) against Yeovil haha.

It isnt 5 at the back. What are you watching?. Its very clearly 3 at the back with a DM in front of them. Shaw and Rafael are sitting high.
It may as well be 5 at the back. Shaw and Rafael aren't Getting any higher than normal fullbacks do. Probably the same game as you...

We really can't seem to play against lower league opposition. Don't remember the last time we dispatched them with ease even when Fergie was here
They raise their game against us with the "nothing to lose" attitude, which still, shouldn't come off as a surprise and we should be good enough to see it through.

Right now it doesn't look like we're good enough, let's see what the second half has to offer.

352 really does make us look bad.

It looked like Van Gaal was having a word with Mata at the end of the first half. Hopefully, he replaces a centre back, because three at the back is not working.

Yes there is, the difference between this 532 and our 'typical' 352 is that we've played with wingers as wingbacks before and now we're playing literally with 5 defenders which is idiotic to say the least.

Not to mention that those two are bringing 0 (zero) attacking threat unlike Young and Valencia did.
We are NOT playing 5 at the back. Seriously what are you watching????. Fletcher is sitting in front of the back 3 and SHaw and Rafaelm are sitting high. They have got back to assist the defence no more than the wide midfielders do in a 442. Its really quite clear.

I'd rather see 30 Leicester like games than this dross when we somehow manage to nick a goal in the 90th minute. Absolutely awful.

Finally have our fullbacks fit again? Doesnt matter, play them as wing backs, although Shaw has absolutely no clue what to do with a football in the opponent's half.

And instead of playing youngsters with a bit of pace in midfield play a completely finished Fletcher there.

Good thinking, what about Angél? Is he available today?

It's poor so far. Very flat performance. Fletcher, Herrera and Rooney are playing quite poor I think and there's been basically no service for the forwards. Blackett and McNair don't look great out there either. A lot of the poor performance seems to be from the lack of trust in the defence.

Bored of referees allowing blatant grabbing, pulling and over-physicality just because it's done by the plucky underdog and they should somehow be allowed to do that because they're shit.

Fletcher really looks done at a club of our level. It's a shame. I think I'd rather see Anderson on...maybe.
