Just been reading one of the PSV forums, got to admit the google translation makes for some difficult reading, but the general jist is they think PSG are likely to pay the most, but the Prem is his likely destination, they also think £25 m is too cheap for him.

Another interesting line is that they think a Janujaz loan might be thrown into the bargain, not a bad idea really.
As it stands, the clubs who are/were in for him (confirmed): Liverpool, Bayern Munchen, Manchester United, Tottenham, PSG.
Most think Manchester United is the destination for him. He'd never choose Liverpool/Tottenham over us, since he already stated he wants to move to a topclub and we've got van Gaal who loves young players. He will only choose one of those 2 if he doesn't receive an offer from us so they're not really worth discussing imo.

PSG will offer him an incredible amount of money to persuade him, but I don't think it'll be much more than he would get here. I think he's doing it so he has the upper hand in negotiations, which is a smart thing to do. I can't realistically see him moving there. PSG are in it for the long run, they hold onto their youth so if he's doing well there he won't be able to get out easily, I doubt he wants to spend years there. It's a possibility but I doubt it, they haven't been nice to van der Wiel at times either.

Bayern Munchen (if they become serious, they so far haven't) will be our biggest competitor for his signature. They've got Robben and are a huge club, he would be the replacement of Ribery in a couple of years. Don't know how much he'd earn there but I could potentially see him go there (don't think he speaks German or French at the moment though?).

We've got a huge advantage over the other clubs with van Gaal. I just can't see him turning down the man who brought him to the national team, who's now the coach of Manchester United. It just makes too much sense to me. Memphis is a young kid who wants to learn and reach the top and van Gaal loves to bring trough youth players so he gets the credit.

They're not talking about 25m Pound, but 25m Euro - that's the supposed price for him. I'd rather see PSV get 30m+ too since he's the biggest homegrown talent from PSV since Afellay (Bazoer went to Ajax ). 25m is still a huge amount of money for a Dutch club so meh, I'd be ok with it.

I personally wouldn't mind Januzaj at PSV for a year. PSV is currently short on wingers: Narsingh hasn't been the same since he done his ACL, Josefzoon is out for a couple of months because he also has an ACL and Bakkali is leaving (he didn't sign a contract and hasn't played for months - not even for the reserves). PSV is currently using their youth alot more but I don't think a winger is ready for the step up yet, PSV could potentially loan Januzaj if they think Rayhi will be ready after Januzaj leaves. Otherwise I can't see it happening.

I'm not sure if van Gaal wants this though. PSV play counterattacking football most of the time so he'd learn nothing about playing for a van Gaal team. Van Gaal doesn't like to loan out players he sees potential in. If it does happen he'd probably play LW and have competition from Corona. PSV are looking into buying Corona from FC Twente as Memphis' his replacement. This would leave Narsingh and Josefzoon for the right wing. I wouldn't say it's impossible but I think it's unlikely to happen.

So there's a tweet in the twitter thread saying he had secret talks with Utd today.

His Instagram today he's posted himself in front of an Under Armour plane, I wonder where he could have been

Is it wrong to say I'm slightly disappointed that no one on here track the flight.

I won't be happy with anything less than a official confirmation of his transfer tomorrow and a tweet from Memphis saying "I am joining the third best team in England".

I know Memphis Depay's attributes and style extremely well, but there will be inevitable ''so is this guy any good'' questions on a daily basis for newcomers in this thread.

There should be threadmarks of past @NL Max analysises of the player and situation.

United bound unless LVG does not want him. I could see him sign for us, the PL is the best place for his development and I don't think PSG and there millions will sway him. No point in him doing a Shaqiri at Bayern, EPL's his destination and i suspect the North.

Memphis Depay used the only free day of his week to fly to Manchester for a conversation with the staff of Manchester United and LvG. He was there with his agent.

It's happening boys
Oh yes it's so on. Gotta love them 23:59 hr updates, Thijs Slegers himself is loving this too I imagine.

By the way, somehow I'm not too worried about Bayern. Obviously just a gut feeling, but Memphis is very different from Ribéry, not sure if he would be a player Guardiola would like given his obsession with tiki-taka. Though the Bayern board perhaps has their own ideas about who to sign.

PSG on the other hand, I was looking at their squad this afternoon, and they only have Lavezzi (turns 30 in May) and Lucas as real options for the wings. I believe Pastore and Cavani have been used there too. But they could really use someone like Memphis.

And you can say what you want about PSG, but they get things done. Crazy amounts of money. For example 45 million Euro for Lucas Moura, why wouldn't they do the same for Memphis?

But if we really want him we'll get him, I'm convinced of that. And the fact that he's talking with us now surely must mean Van Gaal has a clear plan for him? It's just the fact that PSG have slightly more space in their squad that worries me, he can maybe get more (guaranteed) gametime. And living in Paris should compensate for playing in the 'inferior' Ligue 1.

But then again if Van Gaal really wants something he's suddenly turns into a very charming and convincing person, RVP would surely advise him to come to England like he himself did 10 years ago. United being a stable and trustworthy club. And why would we let him come over if we weren't 100% convinced about signing him?

Because you have to have faith that the player recognises whats best for his development, at United he'd have a stable club high wages and a manager known for developing players, likewise with us except not as high a wage I'd imagine. He'd have ample opportunity to become a world class player showcase his talents on worldwide stage and eventually seal a move to one of the La Liga Giants if thats what his ultimate ambition is.

I'm sorry, I'll get back to the bunker to provide you guys the news faster :wenger:

@NL Max

Do you think Pereira would get minutes at PSV?
Wijnaldum (CAM) the captain is also allowed to leave. PSV have contacted the agent of Pereira for a transfer (most likely as Wijnaldum's replacement) so I'd say yes. I don't know if PSV would be interested in a loan but the Eredivisie is a great place for Pereira to get games.
He'd have competition from Hiljemark, Guardado and Maher. He would be able to get in over Hiljemark(rotation player) or if Guardado (guaranteed starter) plays CDM over Schaars(a veteran) and Hendrix(a talent).

shouldn't you be sad?
It's inevitable the best players leave the Eredivisie, I thought he would leave last season and already knew he was leaving after this. If he joins Manchester United I'd be delighted, since I actually follow them more. The Eredivisie still is fun to watch from time-to-time but I prefer the PL.

@Henrik Larsson
I don't underestimate PSG, they're becoming giants of the modern game. I just think they can't convince Memphis because of van Gaal. If we'd have a different manager I wouldn't be so sure of this. There won't be a massive difference in wages either I assume, I don't think Memphis will choose a club purely for financial reasons either.

Yep the more, I think the more obvious it gets. United compared to PSG: Memphis has t better connection with the manager, check. Bigger stadium, bigger history, bigger league, better history with young players, check. We have more than enough money for him. The only thing is, the article says he doesn't want to make hasty decisions. And he shouldn't because it's his future, but it's bad news for a muppet.

He's basically a United player now. Might as well close the thread. Gone are the days when we stumbled over signing the likes of Lucas, Sneijder, De Rossi. We can sign whoever we want after the summer we had (bear in mind we had no CL back then).

Don't worry lads. We went through nearly 10 years of utter transfer desperation but times have changed. I genuinely mean that. The whole 'there's no value in the market' quotes seem like they were conformed over a century ago. We can rival anyone in world football when it comes to wages and even fees.

Why would he??? PSV fans did know about it last summer that he would be one more season with them and then go.
I knew Ronaldo would go to Real Madrid 2 seasons before to his transfer, still didnt stop me from calling him a traitor.

The only problem is that he's not very good.

Manchester United aren't a selling club, PSV are. Our league can only survive by bringing trough young players and selling them on with profit. It has been so for years and is only getting worse. I've got used to it, and that's exactly why I prefer the PL and Manchester United. I have no hard feelings for Memphis. white text

Some balance
Dutch clubs have the worst record of keeping transfers secret, I don't think they even try to keep them secret. PSV already confirmed they're not selling to the highest bidder, but to the club Memphis wants. I see no problems in him listening to all the offers (and wanting to hear it sooner than later), the least this does is give him leverage in negotiating his wages. So his agent is playing it smart, for sure.

He's still checking his options but I have no doubt he will choose us.
