Tbh, I expected him to be reading out 'This is Sparta'-style speeches to his troops, not this soppy stuff. No wonder they blew the title - probably too busy crying over puppies with broken paws and the like.

Looks like Ian is doing all the transfer business for Brenda behind his back
That will be the Scouser PR. BR is quality (God, best thing on sliced bread) and it is only some committee that is making him look a dick.

Any self respecting British manager would walk if that was the situation. I mention British as I know it is a common practice in Europe where the manager is seen as little more that a first team coach. Why would BR accept other people choosing players for him when it could lead to him getting the sack. It does not make sense. I would therefore argue that he is fully involved in the selection of players. The contracts/pay/benefits may well be done by other people, but not the choice of players. If Ayre discussed Depay with PSV then BR would have known about it.

I remember Fergie also saying 'we were not interested' when someone chose another side. Petty and makes you look very stupid.

Agreed. They are quick to apply it as an excuse, it's in a lot of their posts. Some actually believe he has no say in the selection. What would be the point of him being manager without a say. I bet he puts forward candidates and the committee softens the blow of responsibility over buying or not, or their success or not.

such a feeble end of the season for Liverpool is not good. Just makes it more likely he will be sacked.

Don't believe it when they say he does not have a say. No manager worth his salt will allow anyone to overule his selection. The only restriction would be budget. Rodgers is a decent manager.....but still very inexperienced at this level. And he has huge expectations from teh fans... that will be his biggest obstacle.

Dunno. I get the impression he's bullet proof at the minute. Poor start to next season and he'll be in trouble though.

Becomes increasingly likely they'll sack him and bring back Rafa. Although he is a fat knob, Rafa is 10x the manager this charlatan is.

Rafa, that'd be a laugh. Biggest worry would be that Klopp would actually go for it, stupidly seduced by the "romance" of the idea.

I can't believe the United team of last season has more points than Rodgers' 3rd season Liverpool side, they need to win away to Stoke if they are to better United of last season by one point.

If Moyes had a normal season in the league he would have taken 5th and quite possibly kept himself in a job.

United's goal differential wasn't bad last year. Suggested that their true level was a lot closer to the top 4 than the points indicated.

Was embarrassed tactically by Pardew I thought. Palace are a quick team, not sure why he went a midfield two with Gerrard sitting the deepest. Was always going to get overrun.

If only Rodgers had taken the time to contact Phase of play off RAWK. He'd have put him straight.

I can picture his farewell speech now.....

"It's an outstanding football club. I think, here at the football club, the players (gulp) understand what I'm doing here. The incredible supporters at this football club understand and transcend that paradigm. (finger pyramid) We're a young side, developing and nurturing all the time on this incredible journey here at the football club. (leans forward onto folded arms and twiddles ear lobe). its a journey. and many journeys have sides, sides with edges. And those edges are often filled with challenges. challenges that we, as a group have come against on this journey......"

Prat!

Suits that club perfectly

And yes, I'm slightly drunk from the night before and angry

We weren't really. We were a distance behind top 4 performance wise.

It was a thoroughly unprofessional performance from Liverpool, especially after Palace took the lead - Gerrard basically went up front and the rest of the team spent the last half hour trying to set him up for a glorious equaliser, totally forgetting that they had an actual Premier League game to win. Palace should have won by more in the end.

Er...sorry...near Southampton.
 I'm laughing but if he gets sacked then I'm becoming a hoarder. That image is traumatic. Him standing doing his nazi salute celebration thing when the bag goes in the bin.
The original wheelie bin image and subsequent nazi salute addition are just genius  - I'm picturing it with his glow-in-the-dark teeth girning in the background - both hilarious and terrifying.

You won't be laughing when you're trying to walk back into the house afterwards and he's slowly following you. Clapping and telling you "Good job! You're a wonderful technician and a great, great human being." Then every time you look out the window he's closing his eyes and nodding at you in that way he mistakenly thinks is profound.

I thought Bolasie was excellent playing as a forward yesterday fwiw. Palace are an interesting side to watch at the moment.
