It's a possibility, so we might as well discuss the possible replacements.

It's possible that we already have his replacement in depay, but my gut feeling is that the club will go all out to replace him with an equally impressive signing.

It might not necessarily be a wide player, but it'll be an attacking player nonetheless.

Possible targets:

1-Kevin De Bruyne
2-Griezmann
3-Reus
4-Lucas Moura
5-Cavani ( He could operate on the flanks and a wet dream for woody )

Predict away.

Voted the best city in the world
3, 1, 2, 4, 5 - assuming obviously Bale isn't available.

Bayern won't sell Gotze yet, IMO.

Pedro night be a worthwhile gamble. & I doubt he'd be too expensive.

Please no Gaitan. Felipe Anderson seems overpriced. (Though I've not seen enough of him). Sterling is off to city (Pool would never have food to us anyway).

Those are the ones I can think of.

Anyone who's seen enough of him, how would Jesé (Madrid) do out wide?

What is the deal with Lucas Mora?... I remember when we were on the verge of signing him a few seasons back, before he went to PSG..

Admittedly I've only seen him a handful of times, but I've always liked what I've seen, and wish that we had been able to buy him... but the flipside is that he didn't make the 2014 Brazil team and you hear more about him being for sale than you hear about him on the pitch.

Bale, Griezmann, Reus and De Bruyne should be targeted.

De Bruyne would be my pick from those in the OP

I think the most realistic option (other than him staying) would be some kind of swap deal with PSG for Cavani.

Our seeming lack of going for an out and out striker suggests we'll be after a forward that can go anywhere in front three.

It will either be bale, ronaldo or muller.

Exciting times

Reus plays the same role as Depay so unlikely we'll go for him. Muller would be the main target I'd assume, but I doubt Bayern will sell. Maybe we'll just put faith into Januzaj? As I can't see us spending big on a winger this summer if we do sell Di Maria as we'll have Mata, Depay, Januzaj and Young as options... Maybe in January depending on how things go. If we do, then it'll be somebody who can play in any of the front 3 positions.

I'd like to add that NOT signing Bale for 100M would be at the top of my list

Since Reus and Bale won't be available, I'd rather Depay and Januzaj getting more opportunities on the wing instead of bringing someone like Gaitan.

Nobody imo.

Van Gaal ended the season with him as a back-up winger. We are fine in that position with Young, Depay, Mata and Januzaj.

If Bale was available then I could see Woodward pushing for it but he isn't.

Those are possibly the only three players I would be happy to see replace Di Maria, but surely none of them would be available.

It will be nuts to sell Di Maria after one season, but stranger things have happened -

Greizmann and Moura (as part of Di Maria deal) would be my choice.

We're already seeing an unhealthy amount of player turnover imo. 6 players last season, 3 already this and we're apparently looking at Schneiderlin, a centre half, a striker and a keeper if De Gea goes. It's entirely likely we'll see 6/7 players in before the window shuts. I'm not sure why we'd want to add to our complications by prematurely shipping out a renowned top class player and having to bed in his replacement.
