I'd go Cole over Le Saux, though - that one seems obvious. Or you could go my route: Essien + Baines. Le Saux was a good player, no doubt, but not quite there. Baines isn't worse - and Essien (clear pomp) > Mascherano (pre pomp).

Good effort, although Ali Dia only played for one PL club I think. Surely he should be allowed in anyway? feck, it should probably be mandatory to name him captain.

Ade Akinbiyi is probably worth a mention. 11 goals in 77 PL matches across 5 seasons, and 9 of those were in one season.

Well, yeah, he was the better half of that pair and remains to this day the only Englishmaan to get the European Golden Shoe. He was nowhere near as prolific in the rest of his career though.
