So this is our Danny Ings. RAWK must be laughing their asses off.

It makes sense though if LVG is confident Rooney will improve and hence wants someone who will be happy to sit on the bench. Also, Rooney must be shitting his pants thinking about competing with Mane for the CF spot
Hes not a CF though

Better than Pedro IMO. Pedro is a great finisher but his all round game is hilariously bad. Basically the wing version of Hernandez. Mane also knows the league and was brilliant last year for Southampton. Just not as flashy a name as Pedro or signing from a club with a name like Barcelona. IMO a great signing if it goes through.

Nani was getting lazy on £150k a week, I imagine Mane, will be cheaper and hungrier.
How do you get to nani was being lazy? He moved back to Portugal and did very well. Even talked about how he hoped to return here and earn his spot back.

Mane won't sign for 20k a week either. Even if we pay him half of what nani does, add the 20mil that we'd need to get him to the fact that he's not as good as nani yet and it makes no sense.

We'll get a worse version of nani for 20mil or so and save 3mil a year on wages. I don't see much sense here.

Nah but he's a shite player. According to caf members that never watched him play other than the few times we've played Southampton.
I dont think he is shit at all. He looks a decent player to me

But not better than what we have or players we have sold for next to nothing

Do i think Mane will add something? (pace, creativity) yes i do. is he young enough to be moulded and benefit from our excellent training facilities to add consistency to his game? yes i do. So what exactly is the problem with this potential signing? is it because he doesn't play for one of the wankable clubs in europe? because the point i made in my first post was that he has the attributes that the fans have been saying all summer that we need, but for some reason he is getting such a negative reaction.

Also, you should probably find a way of realising that anger, your passive aggressive post probably isn't healthy.
The fact that the CAF was going mad about the Schneiderlin signing makes it obvious that this isn't the case. Schneiderlin was a signing that most of the posters believed would improve not only our squad but our first team. I don't think that Mane would improve our first team. I also believe we have better young talent waiting in the wings to be given a chance.

People here are against signing anyone that people on twitter might laugh at us for. Pathetic.
Yeah, not because they don't think he's good enough for us.

Because of twitter.

Because that makes sense.

From Pedro (has won La Liga, CL, Euros, and WC) - to Mane

He's such an inconsistent and generally rubbish player. I'd prefer the youngsters are given chances to play than to see this guy.
This. I just hope he is a smokescreen for us either signing someone good or settling and giving the kids a chance.

it's every bit as disappointing as when we went from John O'Shea to RvP.

Alrighty then, so Pedro is off and Mane is now looking likely as plan B/C/D/E? Didn't expect that, but to be fair I quite like Mane personally. I haven't seen him that much in the past but he was great against Ajax (probably where Koeman also saw him first) and I've been impressed with him at Southampton. Not sure how good he actually is or can be in the future, I have some doubts over his finishing myself but if van Gaal wants him that's fine with me.

Luckily silly season is almost over.

Can't say I've watched him with an analytical eye. So many are in here berating the player like they've watched him intently for months, which I don't believe for an instant.

Aside from his goals and pace, what are his:

- 1st touch
- movement
- short-passing
- heading
- shielding/strength
- creativity/vision

like?

Apparently, he's a #10 nominally? but does he play like one? What kind of players are closest to his style of play?

Well I hope we have better. Would be a problem if Southampton have a striker better than anyone we have. Who have we sold for next to nothing that he's better than?
As far as attacking options RVP and Nani are surely better players to have in the squad?

I also suggested earlier the thread I would have liked to have seen Zaha get a chance if this is the way we are thinking of going

Welbeck too

We need more blacks in our team! I like Mane, he will be content with only playing now and then

There's literally posts in here saying "RAWK will be laughing at us" or "We are a joke". These people literally are saying they care what other fans care about our signings.

Why do you think signing him makes more sense than signing Pedro? There won't be a massive difference in price and Pedro is comfortably the better player.
Let me start off by saying I've never been overly keen on Pedro in the first place. Rather play Januzaj and Pereira more than sign someone on his last big contract and who doesn't want to leave his current club in the first place.

Why signing someome like Mané makes more sense than Pedro? Because SM is several years younger (with potential sell-on value), up and coming, faster (IMO) and already adapted to PL (hopefully noone freaks out because I dared to mention that). Although you cannot put a price on players consisently delivering high numbers of assists and goals you could also argue that Pedro did that in a well-functioning team (with a ridiculously good attacking unit throughout his Barcelona years) at a club he grew up in.

Not saying I popped the champagne when our interest went public but I rather sign players in the Mané mould than Pedro. Might be a bigger gamble but I see the upside as much higher. Again, not that Mané is a dream player by any sorts.

Edit: I also think the comparison with Nani is lazy.
