I think Blackett is going to Celtic on loan. Good move if he gets regular game time.

Valencia want Blackett.......Oookkk.
Otamendi to Blackett. :p

Why would we put a buy clause at 3 million now for Celtic ? That makes no sense. We can sell for more if he does well and if he doesn't they won't activate the clause anywyay.

Woody needed months to convince LvG that this is actually a good idea.
I hope so. All their problems were years ago anyway. Ibra and Van Gaal have met far more people they dislike since then. He'd be great for us at the minute.

I don't get the people who are calling for Ibra. Yes, he's a fantastic player, but wasn't part of the reason we got rid of Van Persie because he lacked energy, i.e. running in behind, pressing, keeping defenders busy, etc? Ibra, as good as he is, won't give us that, and assuming Rooney would be dropped back to the 10, I don't think Ibra's style would suit his play.
Have you seen him play against us? Lacking energy? he pretty much played as a box to box midfielder, 10 and striker. Rushing up the field for the second.

Didn't he spend a season at Ajax on loan already?
He did and Ajax have taken the option to sign him this transfer window. They've also let go of Sightorsson (their other striker) and loaned out Zivkovic to Willem II, they surely don't want to sell Milik as that would leave them short on strikers.

Ibra makes sense tbh

He's old now but still top quality, he's played in every league but the premier league so he might want a new challenge before he retires.

He wouldn't cost a fortune to buy although his wages would be high we could pay it due to the people we've offloaded so far.

Ah makes sense, I was joking at first considering how we bought Blind at the last minute and might be going for Cillessen now when De Gea leaves. Ajax seems to be Van Gaal's quick shop.

The same was said about Barcelona players and Mourinho, and they are all signing for him. And their problem is exaggerated.

No, it isn't. It's nothing like Mou and Barca.
Only problem is this (from Ibra's auto biography)....

We headed to a training camp in Portugal and, by that time Beenhakker had resigned as director and was replaced by Louis van Gaal. Van Gaal was a pompous ass. He was a little like Co Adriaanse. He wanted to be a dictator, without a hint of a gleam in his eye. As a player, he'd never stood out, but he was revered in the Netherlands because, as a manager, he'd won the Champions League with Ajax and received some medal from the government.

Van Gaal liked to talk about playing systems. He was one of those in the club who referred to the players as numbers. There was a lot of Five goes here and Six goes there, and I was glad when I could avoid him. In Portugal, I couldn't escape. I had to go in for a meeting with van Gaal and Koeman and listen to how they viewed my contribution in the first half of the season. It was like a performance review with grades, the kind of thing they loved at Ajax. I went into an office there and sat down in front of van Gaal and Ronald Koeman. Koeman smiled. Van Gaal looked sullen.

"Zlatan," said Koeman, "you've played brilliantly, but you're only getting an eight. You haven't worked hard enough at the back."

"Okay, fine," I said, wanting to leave.

I liked Koeman, but couldn't cope with van Gaal, and I thought, Great, an eight will do me. Can I have a break now?

"Do you know how to play in defense?" Van Gaal was sticking his oar in, and I could see that Koeman was getting annoyed too.

"I hope so," I replied.

Then van Gaal started to explain, and, believe me, I'd heard it all before. It was the same old stuff about how Nine—that is, me— defends to the right, while Ten goes to the left, and vice versa, and he drew a bunch of arrows and finished with a really harsh "Do you understand? Do you get all this?," and I took it as an attack.

"You can wake up any of the players at three in the morning," I said, "and ask them how to defend and they'll rattle it off in their sleep: Nine goes here and Ten goes there. We know that stuff, and we know you're the one who came up with it. But I've trained with van Basten, and he thinks otherwise."

"Excuse me?"

"Van Basten says Number Nine should save his strength for attacking and scoring goals, and, to tell the truth, now I don't know who I should listen to, van Basten—who's a legend—or van Gaal?" I said, putting special emphasis on the name van Gaal, as if he were some completely insignificant figure.

And what do you reckon? Was he happy?

He was fuming. Who should I listen to, a legend or van Gaal? "I've gotta go now," I said, and got out of there.

Zlatan doesn't fit this club at all, could you imagine him being benched by LvG and what that would lead to? No way.

I know that but Ibrahimovic also said that he respects Van gaal as a coach, that the problem with Van gaal is that he is a know it all, and they clashed.

Goldstein's is the oddest. When he says a "new number 9" he's implying a top striker, not just some chump like Berahino.
And he also says there's a surprise exit, which I wouldn't think De Gea or Evans would be

So they do have a problem? It isn't exaggerated. You don't have to like someone, hell, even get along with someone, to respect them.

Anyway, as I said, I'm 100% sure Zlatan won't come to United, as long as Louis Van Gaal is manager here.

Ibra doesn't make sense in any shape or form.

Find it amazing how anyone thinks he does.

It's just interesting that they can't actually name the striker. You'd imagine a journalist would be dying to break such information.

im sure most are like me, I'd bloody love it if we wheeled a huge name player in at the last minute. But it just seems so ridiculous a prospect this late, with no real hint of who, and after such big talk about how Rooney WILL be the striker this yearl

IIRC, Zlatan called LVG "a pompous ass". Can't see them working together.

I'm not expecting anything exciting. At least not the profile of player I'd like to us sign. There doesn't seem to be anyone available or linked with us. Behrahinho maybe given he's possibly on his way out.

It's just typical jumping on the hate bandwagon

I'd welcome cavani here.
Hasn't Cavani been among the top 10 strikers for awhile now?

Given our current options someone who gets a goal every other game at the highest level and is physically suited to this league seems like a great addition.

I'd be concerned at that, as they've already rejected £22m, so it'd be £25-30m type fee, which for someone like him is sickening.
