we done well to soak up pressure from the start. We looked as if we'd get run over.

I wonder if he's trying to utilise Martial's pace on the wing.Rooney would be totally ineffective out wide
So what if Rooney would be ineffective out wide? If he must play, at least play him where play doesn't go through him. And when he does get the ball, out wide, Rojo can overlap with positive effect.

We need to move Martial into a goal scoring role, not in a role where he supplies Rooney with balls he cannot finish.

Decent half, should be winning. Palace started well, which was to be expected. We weathered it and took control.

    A goal wins this today.
Palace have had the better chances. 0-0 is a fair result at the moment.

Going to have to do a little more with this possession.

Well I am listening to radio Croydon which is naturally Palace biased and they think United weathered the initial storm and have controlled the game by slowing everything down.

Not got a stream, so am only going by commentators view. Their main comment was this is a good away performance.

Tends to go against some of the emotions on here.
Its a good away performance in that we've kept palace at bay for the most part. The keeping possession part helps. However, in doing so we have sacrificed our ability to penetrate a defense. This would be ok if our forwards were deadly efficient and took all their chances. The reality is they are not. Herrera and Rooney wasted good chances and historically, this usually leads to the other team punishing us later in the match.

Same as usual then, we don't look close to scoring or even a sniff of a goal and seem happy to play the ball sideways or backwards. Rooney hasn't been terrible but he offers us very little still.

We did well to not concede at the start and have grown into the game, hope they get tired and more space opens up in the second half.

I don't understand why fans think this game should be a pushover.Palace have played really well of late and want to make up for a heavy defeat so obviously will try that bit harder

After the first few minutes I was very worried but we've turned it around. On a better day we would be 2-0 up. Both Rooney and Herrera's misses were unacceptable at this level. That being said if we continue like this we should win this game, and that's all that matters.

Well unfortunately, to go from simply having possession to the opposition penalty box, the ball has to go through Wayne Rooney.
To be fair, if it goes through Rooney, it's actually good because it would mean that someone else is aiming to shoot the ball. It's when Rooney is at the conclusion of the action that it's not working out!

LVG does have a point about finishing. I mean, Herrera should just side foot that into the corner. No composure.
A big part of having no composure is that our chances are so rare. We don't take any risks so we get very few chances per game and we need to be perfect or almost perfect in our finishing to get any kind of scoring. If you're not getting chances, your skills in finishing deteriorate.

If Van Gaal loves Rooney so much, then he should put Young on for Herrera. Then El Capitan can drop to #10 with Martial up front.
    Do it. Just do it!

Or we give palace the lifeline needed for them to hit us on the counter/setpiece. That's the more likely scenario to be honest.

We have no presence up front. Rooney lost a yard of pace and it shows more and more in every game he plays up front. He also drops too deep too often which leaves us with few bodies in the box when we finally get there.

Put Martial up top and Young on the left, please.

The first 15mins we were very poor and DDG saved us (again). After that we got more control but we simply don't look dangerous enough. 1 shot on goal from a free kick and that's it. More movement is needed.

Should be 2-0 up, but apart from the first 20 mins we played the end of that half well. Get martial on the ball attacking their Rb, he can't handle him. Red soon to come!
