Why when Rooney plays well do Martial and Depay play like they've never kicked a ball in their lives? Very frustrating.
I wouldn't describe this performance from Rooney as good. Average, but no where near good.

    Across the Universe....from Old Trafford.
I have. I just haven't been blinded by him finally making some passes. When the going is easy (first 15), he's done alright. Since then, very little.

0 tackles. 0 interceptions. No help for Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger.

He does not feature as a player passed to in the top 18 pass combinations of our players as per this - http://www.fourfourtwo.com/statszon...0/summary#tabs-wrapper-anchor#:d_Gne8frqo-QBA

The pass statistics are doing ok but I agree with @Escobar and this graphic backs it up. Mainly all sideways and relying on others to make things happen. Anything he has tried to make has generally failed - crosses. http://www.fourfourtwo.com/statszon...VERALL_02#tabs-wrapper-anchor#:RR86aN5q9I-QBA

He simply hasn't offered enough defensively, creatively or in terms of shots, in what is a top heavy team for me, so far.

Still time to go of course...

Tagging the other quoters in this reply. Normally agree with Smoker, Rado and Randall but here I can't jump on board yet.

    @Mrs Smoker @Rado_N and @Jake

you really need to understand football a lot more lad.

Dull first half. Need to do a bit more in the 2nd, particularly in attack.

Only caught the last 20 minutes or so, but Rooney's looking good. You forget just what a beautiful sight it is to see him properly involved and playing well. Long may it continue.

Well i would not put it like that. But i do think that a decent option, if we are talking about 4-3-3 stuff. He won't be any good in our current set-up which is a more of a 4-2-3-1.
How come? Mata out there never beats a man, and Rooney has a better cross on him than Mata.

Not sure our supporters can complain of lack of 'attacking play' tonight. Goals aren't there but game is open as anything I've seen all season.

Decent half. Memphis been poor but had a few decent moments. Same with martial. Rooney the best on the pitch I think. Lingard and schneiderlin have done well as well. Schweiny below par, looks tired. We seemed too intent on playing safe though. Or slowly instead of upping the pace.

There is a huge gap in midfield and we, once more, struggle to bring the ball forward. We're too far apart and don't play quick enough

Rooney apart from the obvious through ball opportunity has been quite good so far. Much better ball control even if its taking him two touches to do everything.

Rooney's playing very well. He is making things happen every single time he got the ball.

Depay, Martial and Lingard needs to buck up.

He was motm in our last game for the love of fecking christ
One swallow does not a summer make. I voted him as my MOTM against Watford, the same way Macheda was my MOTM against Villa six years ago.

We are not really getting much from our attacking line. Depay seems to need too many touches to make up his mind, Rooney's mind is always made up to go wide even when the quick through ball to Martial is on, and Lingard is full of work but hasn't shown much inventiveness.

We really miss Herrera's quick passing instincts in the final third. The spaces are there we're just too slow. Martial is making very good runs on the shoulder but besides Schneiderlin nobody is trying to find him.

The midfield and defence has been okay but they are not really being tested. PSV would be delighted with a point. The onus is on us to break them down. At the moment we are not doing enough.

First half thoughts - Rooney's best performance in 18 months or so, but how was he not booked at the end there???

secondly, BT Sports football show may actually be the worst thing on TV. What Savages problem is I do not know

I muted Fletch and S*v and stuck the Goals show on the laptop.

Howard Webb's only job is to tell us the nationality of the officials it seems.

Rooney has been good this half at that's coming from someone who's been very critical of him all season.
His positioning has been appalling. He's offering no help whatsoever to the midfield.

Schneiderlin has been screaming for him to come short all game.

Descent half created enough but as usual we have big problems with finishing our chances Schneiderlin, Rooney and Lingard has been our best players.

Yes that's Savage. Shame the red button doesn't allow us to shut him up. He is as poor and annoying as a pundit as he was as a player. Which genius at BT Sport thought he should be given money?
Yeah, he's as clueless as anyone I've seen paid money to talk about football, and I'm including that fat brummie guy whose name escapes me. He contributes nothing but noise.

We have a seen a few good performances (Smalling, Darmian, to me Schneiderlin is also pretty good, Rooney as well) and a few not so good (Schweinsteiger is invisible imo, Memphis can't win a one on one, Martial is involved in many situations but unlucky in the box,...)

... but you know what? I enjoyed the whole thing. Yeah, we are not dominating. Yeah, we are not world class if you compare us with Barca and Bayern. But it was entertaining stuff in my opinion. Looked like a good half of football.
