We are not really getting much from our attacking line. Depay seems to need too many touches to make up his mind, Rooney's mind is always made up to go wide even when the quick through ball to Martial is on, and Lingard is full of work but hasn't shown much inventiveness.

We really miss Herrera's quick passing instincts in the final third. The spaces are there we're just too slow. Martial is making very good runs on the shoulder but besides Schneiderlin nobody is trying to find him.

The midfield and defence has been okay but they are not really being tested. PSV would be delighted with a point. The onus is on us to break them down. At the moment we are not doing enough.
I agree with this. Rooney has had a decent game but as a #10 he needs to be looking to create chances, not just shift it wide every time. There was a particular moment in the first half where he could have played Martial through for a one on one, but just hit it out to the right wing like always - I swear he doesn't even LOOK at the rest of the pitch, he just goes straight for the bloody right wing.

After watching last nights games I find it hard to take people seriously who are claiming that we are creating a lot of good chances. We aren't. As an attacking outfit we are miles behind Arsenal, let alone Barca and Bayern.

As much as I hate to agree with Gobby Savage he's right that Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin paired together is slowing our whole game down.

I suspect if Herrera had been fit he might have been playing ahead of Schweinsteiger

We're knocking on the door but PSV are defending well. We "should" have at least one goal but finishing hasn't been our strong suit this season. We'll get the win but none of us will tell our grandchildren where we were when we beat PSV on this day.

PSV have played pretty well imo. Nailed the 'how to beat LVG blueprint': Defend with 9 behind the ball for the first 30 mins til we get tired. Waste time when possible. Then start attacking in final 10 mins of the half when we over-commit due to frustration.

We've seen before Herrera can't play in a 2 man midfield.

Don't understand all the hate pundits like Savage and Owen get, and never will tbh.

I think Savage has actually made a lot of sense in his commentary.

Wonder how BFS will be against the pace of Leicester?

You aren't going to tell your grandchildren the night @Ish thought the cell phone light tribute was for Luke Shaw?

I need to go back to not bothering with match threads. I enjoyed that half.
Agreed, Martial had a couple good chances, Lingard had a really good chance, Rooney had a good one, as did Schweinsteiger whom was incorrectly ruled offside. We've made chances while giving them almost no chances, thought we had a pretty good half.

    In an apple vacuum...
His positioning has been appalling. He's offering no help whatsoever to the midfield.

Schneiderlin has been screaming for him to come short all game.
His positioning could be better maybe, but that's probably the difference between playing a secondary striker in the '10' role and someone like Herrera who's more naturally a midfielder and possibly has a better understanding of where Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger want him. He has put in some good balls though that deserved better from the other attackers and his general play has been decent in my opinion.

Let's not get carried away, I'm not saying 'he's back' or anything but it's a positive.

I agree with you. Sometimes they do talk nonsense but who cares? It's a game where people kick a ball on some grass.

If we had early season effiency then we would have scored 3-4 goals against Watford and in this game

For Memphis vs Ronaldo comparisons, both attempted dribbles and ended up falling over and then stayed down today!

Good going first half. On another day, Lingard, Schneiderlin and Martial would have scored one each. Should win this in the second half if we keep going like this, as we are eventually bound to make use of the good positions we are getting into.

Rooney's best performance of the season for us by far I think.

Imagine being on a BT works night out and getting stuck on a table with Owen and Savage.

I guess i am watching a different match than many others here, because i think we played good.
Some good movements up top and Rooney has been quite good.
Only the goal missing, but that will come.
Same here. We've been great, just missing the final touch.

If people are whining after that half they need to get over themselves.

We can't stop here. This is bat country.
Martial and Memphis both been poor.

Biggest positive is Rooney looks on top of his game. Lingard also playing very well.

Midfield lethargic. Schneiderlin started well but faded and a few errors crept into his game.

    Blind has been very good.

Give it 15 mins then switch a midfielder out for something more attack minded.

I've certainly seen this opinion posted a few times but can't recall what games it's based on? Don't remember any particular games where he showed himself up there

They're slowing it down because our attackers are standing about 40 yards ahead of theme. Only Lingard has made runs of any real quality and interest. Maybe Martial once or twice.

Chances are I'll forget all about that once we get into the post match thread.
