Is it wrong that I've always read their name as Midget land?

FC Midtjylland (central Jutland) is a very physical side. They get right up in your face and is a threat to anyone on set-pieces. In the first game against Napoli they played really well and arguably deserved to be ahead before conceding the first goal. That said we should easily beat them.
Pione Sisto is a good talent but has largely been off the boil this season. Except for the away game in Brügge where he was brilliant. Tim Sparv is a very disruptive midfielder on his day. And the CB Erik Sviatchenko is probably looking to move abroad soon. Some might remember Morten 'Duncan' Rasmussen from a short stint at Celtic.

Both Winston Reid of West Ham and Simon Kjær came through the academy at Midtjylland.

How is this pronounced by the way? Mid-tew-land?
Mid-ye-lan or something like that.

The t is almost silent, the j is soft and in combination with the y gives a sound like that in the word 'yew' (but without the ending w).

The D is also silent right, or only partially voiced?

Let's hope Van Gaal has enough time to work out how to dominate these feckers in the possession battle.

We're lucky, have you seen some of the other draws?

Galatasary v Lazio
Shakhtar v Schalke
Fiorentina v Glaston
Dortmund v Porto
Sporting v Leverkusen
Villareal v Napoli
Marseille v Bilbao

All tough draws.

This pretty much. Going out against that lot would certainly mean the end for LvG?
It's a process. They're a good team, one of the best in Denmark, and have already knocked out Southampton, Legia Warsaw and Club Brugge. Don't take it for granted, it's a tricky tie and as long as we can keep possession it will be fine. Hope Nick Powell scores three.

I've been surprised at the number of starts he's been getting as he only turned 18 in June (and ahead of Sisto too). But he doesn't look out of place, not even in the Europa League. He got his debut at 17 so he's clearly highly rated. He's mainly played from the left in the games I've seen. He comes in centrally a fair bit and seems to be able to turn into a rather composed finisher.
Talented but I haven't seen enough games of his to predict anything.

We should win pretty comfortably if we're being honest. So long as we aren't destroyed by injuries. And we'll probably buy someone in January as well, so that's a bonus. Actually looking forward to these games. Every trophy would be huge for our young team, and the first trophy after Sir Alex would be hugely significant as well, regardless of what it is. The Europa League is actually pretty big these days anyways. Of course big teams don't want to be in it because they'd rather be in the champions league, but if we're honest, any English side is basically round of 16 or quarter finals at best. They're best chance of winning something in Europe is the Europa league, because the main 5-6 teams in Europe (barca, bayern, madrid, atletico, Psg, juve) are far ahead of the English sides.

At least we don't have to travel too far to eastern Europe!

If we get most of our players back from injuries, we can play some of the players who are not getting as much game time as others, like the youngsters etc and play a few experienced heads in the 1st leg. Blow them away then we can pretty much rest all our bigger names in the 2nd leg. Knowing us, even with our full strength squad we would just about pull off a 1-0 win!

We should mix our squads up a bit for the last 32 and 16 at least. IF we manage to get to the last 8 then I would want us to go all out and try to win the competition and play our strongest team, even if we are doing well in the league...somehow! Been too long since we have lifted a trophy!

They scored more set-piece goals than any other European league team last season. Kristian Bak Nielsen, their captain IIRC, said in an interview that for Midtjylland, every single set piece is a matter of life and death. :D
