Well the guy did win the Premier League 6 short months ago. BBC were saying that the briefs from United were that a proven record of winning Premier League titles was now the most important factor in any potential manager.
Well that rules Giggs out and Pelegrini in.

There are only few options now, with Ancelotti to Bayern and Guardiola to City, you can choose between these 3:

1) Mourinho
2) Pochettino
3) Pardew

And maybe Blanc.

It would be idiotic at this point to wait for Pep. If we don't get top 4 then he won't come anyway and yet again when the top 3 managers in the world are up for grabs we'll miss out. Get Jose in.
we're not going to get pep now, agreed. but if Pep has told United he wants to come and there's a contract signed, i'd rather wait for 5 months and get Pep over Mourinho. I'm more than sure the players would play for Giggs for 5 months, or even better Fergie comes out of retirement for 5 months to steady the ship. i honestly don't think that would be as far fetched as some would think if the stories of Fergie wanting Pep / good friends etc are true. Sure Fergie can manage us for 5 months, specially as we're out of CL so travel would be kept to a minimum.

If we are in for Jose, I can't believe we're back in for the man we should have appointed after Fergie left 3 years ago. What a waste of 3 years.

Do you think he would accept a 6 month deal?

I would doubt that
He might. All parties would see it as an emergency type of situation. He would see it as an opportunity on top of that. If he's a success, we'll extend it - and he knows it.

Not much to lose that he wouldn't lose by not being a grand success anyway, even with a longer contract. Put it like this: If Maureen wants the gig as such, I doubt he'll turn us down over technicalities.

Still don't want Jose. If we absolutely cannot get Pep this summer, then throw everything at Carlo.

I'd agree but, if we absolutely cannot get Pep, then it's very likely we can't get Ancelotti either.

Bayern or United at the moment... tough choice.

It's a football rom-com. United and Jose should have gotten together after Fergie left. It was the perfect fit. Instead, they both tried other things that ended up failing miserably. Now, they're both down on their luck and in need of each other...

Unlike our board who brief about wanting to sign Neymar and co the Bayern board seem to have acted decisively and snapped up Carlo.

We need Jennifer Aniston to play United.

If not Pep, there are only Ancelotti, Enrique, Mou and enrique that I welcome as a new manager with a true belief that things will turn. That being said, Mou is kinda scary with his season 3 and all.

Including his new contract with Bayern?
If that's true then we're fecked for a bit. But Jose is not one to leave a good structure in place when he fecks off. We really need to address this now instead of just looking at the short term which is what Jose is.

As much as I'm not keen on it, going into the Chelsea game with him as our manager would be incredibly entertaining.
Would love to see this.

As much as I want the perfect manager i'd accept Jose for all his faults given he is a pretty much guaranteed to bring success. Hopefully if he had overall control of everything including transfers we wouldn't see some of the antics and issues we have seen at Chelsea and Real.

Yeah.

He left Porto and Inter as European champions in season 3. Left Chelsea as FA cup winners and second place in season 3. Real Madrid in second place.

Kinda scary. I wish LVG was that scary.

No thanks - for one thing we have some quite promising academy players coming through, and we could forget about any of them even getting a sniff if Mou comes here. Plus, and perhaps more importantly, as Cheesy said it just isn't the right time. He's obviously had a really hard time recently and has been behaving like even more of a nutter than usual. If LVG goes I'd rather give it to Giggs until the end of the season. Maybe then.

I cannot believe any of you would want Mourinho.

He's the cynical new day equivalent of Don Revie of 'dirty Leeds' notoriety

Like Revie, he's too much of a coward to let his teams play even though they possess superior quality.

Bottle job, pussy boy.

Let's just wait and see what Enrique does with that ageing Barcelona team first. I'm pretty sure Giggs could have took that team last year and won what he won with the players at his disposal. The team picks itself and the football plays itself.

On the radio this week someone mentioned SAF is supposed to be looking in great nick. Sneaky two year contract?

We are in a desperate spot. If we brought him in now we could possibly win the league. I say go for it and bring him in. Other alternatives are Giggs or leaving LVG in charge.

Kinda (very much) agree, but I really want van Gaal out now. So Mourinho might tick my box. He always went gung-ho against smaller teams, and parked it and often won agaisnt bigger ones. Plus he would probably give Memphis that much needed confidence. Mata would e gone though :/

To be fair his Inter team was great to watch I thought. Even his Real team I found very entertaining, they weren't as attacking as they maybe should be but they were not a bad team to watch.

His Real team broke the record for most goals scored in a La Liga season as far as I know.

They were very good in 2011-2012.

Jose has been proved right about Mata sadly.

He's an odious coward whose cancerous ego would only make things worse, he fecked up his own title winning team, he'll not get anything from a young, demoralized squad like ours. We need a vibrant, creative coach to lift things.

I cast yes, but the real answer would not 'not sure'. I'd veer more towards yes than no, but in all honesty, am not sure. I do think he's a better option than LVG who I've just lost faith in now. :( Would prefer Guardiola, but I also reckon I could do a better job right now!

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'd prefer Giggs to Mourinho. At least until the end of the season if we can get Pep.

I don't trust Mourinho to blood our youth players (the one positive for LvG's reign) and not to bring the club into constant disrepute.

It would also maybe shut the whole Class of 92 crowd up once and for all should he fail to ignite the way we play.

I'd take Mourinho tomorrow after today's defeat and our recent declining form. Yesterday I was against the idea but today I'm more than happy for it to happen. This feels Moyesesque.

Everybody wanting him now is forgetting that the Mourinho type of football has really been found out in recent years, especially in Europe. He simply is no future-proof option. Last thing I want for us is to play the reactionary type of football he's been serving up for years. A perceived save haven could turn out to be absolutely killing for us.

No thank you.

Just because we aren't doing well, we shouldn't rush into hiring managers who are not beneficial for the long term. Given the context of the situation I can understand why it may be appealing for some fans, but we should look passed that and determine whats best for the overall structure of the club.

He just lost the dressing room at Chelsea. Plus, Chelsea have not invested 250 million in new players... I think Mourinho can get us to play proactive football with that kind of money....

IMO he is the only manager with the personality to manage the club, he is a proven winner, at least have the conversation, there are obviously things to his way of going on that are not welcome, but if he wants the job like has been said, put it to him, we are going nowhere but down at the moment, another season with no cl after all we spent, feck that.
