Then why the hell give him til the end of the season?

There's no upside to keeping him. Not one.

Getting rid gives a new manager a chance of turning something around. No matter how small that chance might be its better than doing nothing.
Who would we get? I don't believe Giggs is capable of making a difference. I don't want Mourinho long term.

I'm also just strangely reluctant to get rid. Maybe because I was hugely in favour of him at the start of the season. It's not logical, I know.

Do you think Giggs could possibly be worse than this tripe? At least he'd attempt to get the team playing attacking football.

I don't believe Giggs is up to the job either but to be frank it can't get any worse. I reckon someone on here couldn take over now and do no worse.

Eh? I just dont get your logic. Do you want the club to get into the top4 or not?!

No, not worse. Just don't think he has the nous and personality to make the needed (big) changes. I don't think it's a worthwhile gamble.
So, you don't think it could get worse. But don't think it's worth the gamble ... eh, if you don't think it could get worse, how is it a gamble? There's only either status quo (with someone we love), or improvement.

I am not for Giggs as our new manager by any means, but can we seriously look any worse than this? What exactly will we lose by appointing Giggs until the end instead of van Gaal(if we have no one else). At least the amosphere around the club could be better and we might actually win some extra points simply because of a new manager effect.

Truly dogshite today...

Injuries are some excuse but why can he not see how awful Fellaini is as a CM and why does he persist in playing people who lack confidence or experience in experimental systems and then wonder why we lack any cohesion or imagination?

No wonder Darmian couldn't wait to get off the pitch after Long gave him the excuse by clattering into him...

If I was De Gea, with the boos still ringing in my ears, I'd be phoning up Madrid right now.

I was all for patience but this is a shambles of the highest order. I do think that the situation has become toxic and he has to go.

Very depressing...

I do. I think top 4 this season is huge for the club, with the Adidas clause and a summer spree clearly needed. I just don't see who's the man to get it for us. If Ancelotti/Klopp were still available I'd be singing a very different tune.

Because changing a manager for no improvement sucks? I guess I still like Van Gaal as a person so that's a factor.

err Jose Mourinho, who is gagging for it, and would almost guarantee a top4, esp with a mini-splurge in Jan?!

I know he is probably available, but let's say even if everyone is unavailable sacking him won't do us any harm.

If we could get Mourinho as a stop-gap then sure, but there's no way in hell he'd accept that.
Stop-gap? Why should/would he?!
I'm sorry but we almost need him more than he needs us.
I am still baffled with the hate towards the serial-winner that is Jose Mourinho.

And your planB is to stick in free-fall with LVG!

I believe in LVG, we're clearly making process. He has done it, that was the worst match I have ever seen us play. Well done, I can see why people defend LVG now, he's a genius .

I've never enjoyed watching Jose's teams play. And sooner or later his results turn to shit too.
 are you re-reading yourself?!
Do you mean the Chelski (part 1) that smashed a record number of goals/points or whatever it was.
Or the free-flowing R.Madrid?

But no, you're right. Let's not risk any 'boring' football (albeit winning football), so stick to our....err boring football. :wenger:

We saw yet again a squad of players with no winning mentality. They actually do not believe in themselves, never mind the manager. Just going through the motions. Getting a new manager in now will not change that, and would be a bit unfair on him as the window is practically closed.

Sorry but what? Many of our players have been winners, some serial winners in their careers.. how can they possibly lack a winning mentality?

So you saw players fighting to the end to win. Maybe you watched another game. We have rarely come back from a losing position to win. That is what winning mentality is about.
What I see is a bunch of players who are under such instructions by a very authority like manager who doesn't except anything other than his demands carried out on the pitch at all times. They are playing in he's image, yes they themselves can and have to do better but they are only doing game by game what the manager asks.

10 points in the last 10 PL games. That's relegation form over the course of one quarter of the season. There's no way Giggs could be any worse.

Exactly we don't want to win titles with boring football and under LVG I'm pretty sure we wont

Whilst it is true that they won things maybe they weren't the dominant characters of the time and were swept along in the culture created by Keane, Ronaldo, Vidic, Evra et al. Not to forget the mentality Fergie instilled.
They certainly aren't displaying the same spirit at the moment.

He should go but the list of players who are injuried or underachieving is unbelievable.

Valencia, Darmian, Jones, Rojo, Shaw, Young, Schweiny and Carrick is injured.

Schneiderlin, Mata, and Fellaini is at least two levels below normal standard. Blind isn't a natural CB and Rooney is past it.

Apart from DDG, Smalling and Martial the rest isn't United first team material.

I have never in my whole life seen such a soulless bunch that I saw in our last 30 minutes today. Shambolic performance. Bring in Mou and let Giggsy follow the Dutchman.

We will have to disagree on that. No manager or coach would have asked the players to perform like that. They were losing every 50-50 ball, not through instruction, they were not moving not because of instruction and losing composure due to pressing is a player confidence thing. It is a shame when the players used to go on the pitch believing they were the best, these players appear not to believe that.

I am not 100% sure he is the problem, sure he is accountable and I think he will end up going, but not in the near future. I don't think Giggs will do better, in fact I think it will be worse. And I wouldn't want Jose anywhere near the club. So, I am not sure a change is the answer.
