Good performance again so credit where it is due.

This reminds me of when LVG started out and we played nice football, but the issue was how we reacted when we went a goal up. The lads have looked confident and vibrant the last few days but today looked scared to play after the goal.

Tha said we are playing way better, we have a young team and 2 manchester kids in the 11, playing an unbeaten chelsea under hiddink and for me looked like the better team. Would have been delighted with 1-0 if we hung on, can't be too sad with 1-1 even though we played well enough to win it more comfortably
yea and the top 4 looks to be gone, reality is? VG has failed so badly, he won a couple of games, so what? when it was needed the most VG once again fails

Guys, if not for DDG, we lose 4-1. You should all feel lucky.

Three points thrown away by stupid substitutions and god awful tactics when going a goal ahead.

Taking Fellaini off was a mistake. He was playing really well and breaking Chelsea up. But we let them back into the game by dropping deep and not pressing high as we did earlier on. They put us under tremendous pressure for the last 10 minutes when we couldn't get out of our own half, and when we did, we gave the ball away. We should have taken all three points. Disappointing.
This is how I felt in the southamption game. Felli has been through a very poor run of form but as soon as he came off vs sotn I said we would lose to a set piece. He's so important in the box vs a side like chelsea. We are so weak in the air it is crazy. Guess LVG has never had to play in a league where teams do often sit in their box and try nick a header. Hard to manage that with our squad without felli on the pitch

I'm not sure why because it was one play, but that Depay misplaced pass to Morgan is the most furious I've been in a long time. Even before Costa scored.

Other than that, yeah we didn't deserve to win, not with how we played after we scored.
That wasted pass and two other instances were very important. I kept thinking all we had to do was keep the ball a little bit and we win. However, Blind had the ball in space toward the end and tried a long ball to Rooney which wasn't even close and Chelsea had another attack. Then Martial had the ball in space with Ivanovic and he tried to dribble him and lost control going inside. Another Chelsea attack. Then Memphis. I just felt if we had played a little more thoughtful in each of those instances we would have seen out the match.

Isnt this the open attacking football we have all cried out for? I agree it feels crap throwing away 3 points like that, but credit where it is due... we played well barring the last 10 mins of each half. A little frustrating with the memphis incident but i also think Schniederlin is to blame, if he stops running and hovers on the edge of the box its a much easier pass. Giving away free kicks repeatedly was quite frustrating. But as a whole it was a good performance just lacking the in game intelligence to see it out.

So when we are playing bad people say 'I just want to play attractive football i dont care about results' and when we play attractive football and draw 1-1 to a last minute goal away at an unbeaten chelsea then suddenly it's the result again

I'm sorry, but Dave's saves weren't even that good. They were both about a yard away from him, and although they were both powerful shots we would've been fuming if he didn't save them. Mingeolet would've done well to feck those up.

In fairness, you can't expect much from Depay. However bad he plays, I never get upset over Depay, simply because he is a terrible player (for us).
In general I don't expect much. But jesus, one simple pass to Morgan when he had space on the edge of the box, with a couple other United players in the box too, made me tear my hair out when he overhit it.

Think we need to take this Midget Land game serious. We can still make top four - you never know what will happen. But we might have to switch our energies to Europa - long shot but we need to pull something out.

Bloody shame this result. Just to hold on and they couldn't do it.:(

Should never have come on. You don't bring on a flair winger at 1-0 away at chelsea. Stupid.
Absolutely. I'm a fan of Memphis, but the type of substitution was wrong and the choice of player, a cocky kid lacking confidence, was stupid. I blame LVG for that one, not Memphis. No foubt LVG blames Memphis though.

Top four is hardly gone. We've still to play Arsenal and Spurs and the former has Leisester up next.
Yep, still 13 games to go, but it's very much getting to the point that we're going to need some big wins. We'll have to win probably 3 of the City away and games you mention.

Good performance, a little wasteful at times but a disappointing result. Without DDG we would have lost. If we play like this for the rest of the season we should get forth.

6 minutes injury time.
During those 6 minutes Chelsea scores, United make a sub, still he blows his whistle at 96:000000000000000000000000.
The ref was spineless anyway, they start moaning and complaining, and after a few times they started falling over and shouting and getting free kicks. PL refs are such cowards, you have to intimidate them to get your fair share.

I like that our players have started shooting from outside the box, we didn't the first 18 months under LvG.
They move the ball around quicker, so there's space to shoot. Otherwise the shots will get blocked.

But the stupid thing is after the goal the players want to score the second goal too much and waste possession. There's no better time to have the opponent fruitlessly chasing the ball than the first 10 minutes after you've scored. It kills their spirit, it's extremely annoying if you have to score. That is all about the execution.

Good start, but Chelsea were pretty shoddy to be fair first half, every pass was wayward.

Lingard, Martial, De Gea, Smalling, Darmian, CBJ all very good.

I know other people are back to arse-licking Rooney after a few good goals, certainly the Media are, but i still dont think he does close to enough. Loads of poorly executed little lay off's and control again and offers very little in the way of attacking threat.

Look at the difference between what Costa offered Chelsea and Rooney for us. Id swap them in a heart beat.

The decision to bring on Depay for Lingard seemed to make no sense to me at all. Schneiderlin for Felbows, yeh, Felbows was playing further forward and with Hazard and Pedro coming on, Schneiderlin was a good choice. But Depay for Lingard with 8 minutes of flat out defending coming our way???? what the feck kind of decision is that. If Depay has shown one thing this season above all else its that he is absolutely redundant defensive and structurally. He looked like a headless chicken. Lingard i assume will have been knackered, but he's still half decent defensively and seems to know where to be more than Depay.

Good for 70 minutes, those mentioned above were very good, still lacking a proper front man when Martial isn't playing there (which cant be done while we have nobody that can do the job on the left), an two awful decisions in Depay coming on and also whoever told United to sit so fecking deep and give Chelsea 93% possession over a 10 minute period......that's simply ludicrous.

Can a cocky kid lack confidence?

He's been an absolute sh!t of a buy so far, bar a couple of early cut in 25yarders in Europe.

I could see Mourinho shipping him straight off if he did come in.

The fact Lingard is keeping him out so effortlessly says it all.

My brain can't get pregnant!
Why some of you call this a good performance I don't know.

We had a few good periords, not alot of good chances, long periods of pointless lateral passing and last 20 minutes we were absolutley shit with phatetic defending.

All that against a team that is currently 14th in the league and deservedly so because they were even more shit then we were.

Goodbye to top 4. LVg said if we win this it would be like a new start, but I think the reality is that if we didn't win this it would be the end. I give up, Premier League is over for us. We have been playing relegation style football since december and we are getting the results to match.

Terrible manager, terrible players (apart from a few exceptions), terrible team altogether. Don't know why I still bother to watch them, feels pure waste of my time.
Biggest overreaction I have read for ages, and that's saying something.

LVG's notebook
It's absolutely infuriating throwing away two points like this. We did so well at the beginning of each half, but then the drop off was horrendous.

Chelsea threw the kitchen sink at us at the end and it was when rather than if they scored, we were on the ropes at the end. We're lucky we haven't thrown away the whole three points.

Positives were DDG, Darmian, Smalling, Blind and CBJ - they shackled C*nta very well and he hardly had a kick all game. Carrick was also imperious, Mata made us all tick. Lingard took his goal very well.

Martial other than his early attempt was quite muted, Rooney did okay in bursts.

Other than the final 20 minutes, we were brilliant. The subs ruined it for us. I was calling out for Schneiderlin but he didn't help. And Memphis - don't get me started. With Mourinho in charge, we wouldn't have given away this lead.

We also need to keep away from giving away shitty fouls at the edge of the box. We must've given them around 7 or 8 FKs towards the end.

Finally, Oliver is a thundercnut of stratospheric proportions.

I really hate how wasteful we become with possession when we have a lead to protect.
It's really bizarre how with LVG's playing style, you'd assume one of its few strengths is 'smothering' out games while in the lead through sheer possession, but instead we fall apart and leak clear-cut opportunity after clear-cut opportunity.

This felt like two lost points although we ceded so much to Chelsea and leant on De Gea so heavily in the last twenty minutes you knew a goal was coming.
