Certainly not in the first teamsquad. Maybe in steroids, magic potions and pizzaInteresting bump. Did they even invest that much money? Seems to me that they spent wisely as opposed to profusely.
180mil wont get them into the top 5.
They'll never do that, they have a very specific and sophisticated scouting system in place.or will they go for flops from the big teams i.e. Fellaini, Bony etc
I' have put money on it back then if I could.Hehe.
Did they even spend 80, never mind 180?
An overview of (estimated) net transfer spendings and which player came in and left can be viewed here:Who have they actually spent money on? Ozazaki and Inler? Who haven't actually set the league alight especially Inler who can't get a game.
Walk onVardy blew the money in a casino and he still found time to racially abuse people.
That's what he said.Walk on
5 sounds right. I figure they need a better striker to replace Ulloa as the 3rd man in the rotation for 2 spots with Vardy and Okazaki, a CM better than Andy King who can play with Drinkwater or Kante when one is rested/injured (tough in that it needs to be someone versatile enough to either sit or chase), an RB to replace Simpson as the starter, a winger in case one of Albrighton or Mahrez gets hurt and Gray isn't ready to start (Nathan Dyer's role this year) and a backup CB to cover for Morgan and Huth.I wonder what type of investment the chairman will give them if they win the league. They need to spend big and bring in 5-6 players, the worst thing Rainieri and the club can do is go into the Champions League and Prem with the same team. Be interesting to see what type of players they go for, will they carry on getting unknown players or youngsters like Gray or will they go for flops from the big teams i.e. Fellaini, Bony etc.
To be fair you were nearly rightNot a chance, they will be straight down next season lumbered with a roster of overpriced shite.
Read on to subsequent posts. To be fair you were nearly right
Sorry mate, didnt see them. Wasnt actually trying to have a go, they very nearly did end up as you thought they might. In fact 99% of us were thinking the same way. Kind of funny how its turned out and I actually really hope they win the league, love seeing underdogs win.Read on to subsequent posts.
*edit* I do apologise, that's in a different thread.
£50m doesn't go very far when you're talking about Top 4 quality players.I expect them to target some good players in the Summer and build on that success. They could easily spend over £50m in one window with CL money incoming and I fully expect them to in order to cement their top half status in the league plus get a bigger squad for Champions League.
Feels so weird talking about Leicester playing in CL.
Yes, it isn't much but they shouldn't really be looking at numerous first team players to improve the team. They need second striker better than Okazaki and with good scouting they can get someone in for around £10m. They need another midfielder and maybe a defender plus a couple of squad players. Most importantly they need to keep the core of the team in place, two first team additions will be enough.£50m doesn't go very far when you're talking about Top 4 quality players.
So 4 players, top 4 quality for £50m?Yes, it isn't much but they shouldn't really be looking at numerous first team players to improve the team. Considering they got Kante for £5.5m and Mahrez for £0.5m, they can probably find 4-5 good squad players without spending £100m+.So 4 players, top 4 quality for £50m?
And their squad is big enough to cope with the extra 6 games before December and still be fresh enough for the Christmas run?
The chances of striking gold like that again is unlikely. Also no club is going to sell a player to Leicester now for such a low price because they know they have money available.Considering they got Kante for £5.5m and Mahrez for £0.5m, they can probably find 4-5 good squad players without spending £100m+.
What's top 4 quality? Was Kante top 4 quality? They already have a squad of top 4 quality players, they will be top 4 at the end of season, and they have accomplished that without spending much.
They didn't stumble upon those players by chance, their scouting system is second to none. Kante was statistically the best ball winner in Europe last season. They use actual stats and data, not like United who throw money left right centre without putting too much thought in it.The chances of striking gold like that again is unlikely. I'm not saying they stumbled upon them by chance but its impossible to tell from stats how well a player will adapt to a new league. When you're shopping for bargains you take a risk on unproven players; sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. They struck gold with Kante and Mahrez for sure but its not likely that they can expect to do this every season for such a low price and win the league. They didn't stumble upon those players by chance, their scouting system is second to none. Not sure about that. They don't have much depth at the moment, and top clubs will be looking to take their best players. Although they have shown a knack for buying gems, it's not easy to do.They deserve it for their hard work, they are in CL now, some wise decision in summer can get them long in CL.
I don't see them in top 4 next season, every other team know them now, they will be in CL more matches/mid week fixtures, other teams getting stronger , new players adjusting, need to have the same motivation level going .But again its not impossible but it would be difficult. Not sure about that. They don't have much depth at the moment, and top clubs will be looking to take their best players. Although they have shown a knack for buying gems, it's not easy to do.
They could buy 5 promising players in the summer, and be out the top 4 next year.
Can't argue against that, there is no way they are finishing in the Top 4 next season. They will be worthy winners but I do think this is a flash in the pan caused by some favourable conditions.
- United, Chelsea and Liverpool have been dour, Man City haven't been much better. 4 big teams out of the title race with 10 games to go was ridiculous but do we think that all 4 will fail to compete next season. Especially with Chelsea and City having new managers and no doubt investing heavily.
- Their nearest rivals are failing to put any pressure on them, Arsenal are serial bottlers and Spurs have improved drastically but don't yet have the killer instinct for champions. I don't even think either team will win all their 6 remaining games.
- Leicester have had a serious lack of long term injuries to their players. Could they expect to be that lucky each season? Not likely when they have CL to contend with as well. More travel + more games = more fatigue and injury.
Its one thing to compete for a season but the clock gets reset next September and they need to do it all again against clubs with vast wealth who will be looking to pick their team apart. Would Mahrez say no to Barcelona, would Kante say no to Arsenal?
I think mid table is their likely destination next year.
As evidenced by Liverpool, stastical scouting don't always work. They didn't stumble upon those players by chance, their scouting system is second to none. Kante was statistically the best ball winner in Europe last season. They use actual stats and data, not like United who throw money left right centre without putting too much thought in it.
Why? They've done it more than once. I don't get why the logic among English clubs is you have to spend £100m to get anyone decent in.The chances of striking gold like that again is unlikely. Also no club is going to sell a player to Leicester now for such a low price because they know they have money available.
Just out of curiosity is this fact or an assumption based on the players they found this season? Just historically I don't recall Leicester being a treasure trove of great players (like say Southampton has been in recent years).their scouting system is second to none.
