Do not see why anyone would prefer Ancelotti to Mourinho. Bar being a nicer guy, he is inferior as manager.

Pep probably yes, but lets see how he does at a team that isn't twice as good as their rivals. I always rated him high, but this is a quite uncommon scenario for him. Mourinho is a far safer appointment, and both usually stay around the same amount of time at a club, so both are short term appointments.
Ancelotti for me too, now as well as after Fergie. He doesn't carry the Mendes baggage, nor does he have the very recent catastrophic failure that Jose had. Which is likely why Bayern have gone for him.

Of what remained in the market, we got the best possible choice though.

It wouldn't surprise me if LvG doesn't leave and that Mourinho is made manager whilst LvG moved to technical director.

Did you react the same when news of us meeting Van Gaal was released? That too by the Dutch telegraph who are very close to him.

That was at the time when we had a man with 5 years running in his contract as our manager. Was that respectful on their last?

Treating the two situations differently is just being hypocritical imo. And for some,it's driven by their hate for Jose.
Sorry, that makes no sense. Like van Gaal, there were reports of us meeting Mourinho months ago too. Nobody said that was classless. Pissing on van Gaal's parade within an hour of the final whistle is indeed classless...regardless of who leaked it

It'd surprise me. Technical Director or DoF or whatever you want to call it is too long term a position to put someone in it for 12 months.

I think United know that they had to do something to stop the slide into being a team that simply challenges for a top 4 spot and looks to the FA Cup to bring a bit of cheer to an otherwise disappointing season.
So Arsenal, they didn't want us to become Arsenal.

It's really mean spirited to try one up the manager you are replacing the moment he wins a trophy by announcing you will be taking over. And it was almost literally a minute after. Shows the Portuguese lizard mentality at its worst. They do have their good side as well, but I'm basically talking Madeira.
Ignorance on full show.

Dont worry Im over it. Thats why I came on here to vent it. You have to agree its pretty tasteless. Someone wins the cup and their barely off the stage after lifting it and all the sports stories are about the next man in. Shows what scum a lot of sports journalists are imo.
Why is it journalists' fault? Aren't they just doing their job? Are they supposed to ignore all information from their sources? Story was all over foreign media yesterday morning. If nothing in English media, we/some say 'our media are shit, they know nothing' etc etc. When they do some digging, they get blamed.

Personally have zero sympathy for LVG. Can't wait to see the back of him. And head's been in the sand if you didn't think this would happen or are at all surprised. Writing has been on the wall.

We really don't know the source of leaks. All speculation at present.

I don't think it was the club, fwiw.
Even blaming Mendes and Mourinho for the leaks is all speculation. They're just easy targets. If a pre-contract was signed some while back there will have been a confidential clause not to disclose anything until it's official.

I'm a bit sad that his has come to this.

I like LVG and I'm genuinely sad to see that it didn't work out for him. I like his arrogance and his pressers are great. But if you can't deliver on the pitch, it's curtains. And so it must be.

I would have loved to see him challenging for the title and eventually winning it. But it hasn't worked out, so what's allegedly about to happen, must happen. However, I'm happy for him to win the FA cup.

But the press in England must be the worst.

I don't understand the anger towards the press on this one. I'm perfectly happy to call them a bunch of cnuts when they deserve it and the often do but this is huge news, what are they meant to do; ignore it?

Surely people need to be angry at who leaked it to the press, not the press themselves?

Hayley McQueen said that the leak came from Mendez. Mourinho looked very unhappy when some journo asked him after the Haye's match.

How would you like it if you had just won the FA Cup and at the post match press conference you were continuously asked about getting the sack?

Indeed. Journos are payed to bring news, not to act cute.

Supposedly Mourinho's camp leaked the details yesterday, poor taste really. The man has just won the FA Cup and the papers are filled with his news of his replacement. At least give him a day or two!

I don't understand why people are even angry, let's not pretend that all parties didn't know about this months ago.

That is not important. Press was doing its job, and for once, they were doing it well.

It's not only that this has pissed on LVG's parade. It has also taken the shine of off the cup win for the players and the club. Sky have said that the celebrations at the team hotel was muted. A group of young men who we are affiliated with have had their success pissed on some of who had never won a trophy before.

It has been 3 years since we won a trophy we should have celebrated this over the weekend But Jose wouldn't let that happen. He is a lose cannon he doesn't care what the club he is about to work for wants to happen he is all about self. Man Utd obviously didn't want this released this weekend but his team don't care about that. Why should they be worried about what our club wants.

Okay he will be our manager for up to 3 years and I hope he leads us to trophies but his actions last night highlighted why I dislike this man so much on a human level. So I'll support my team and it's players over the next 3 years or so will celebrate the success that they might get but will never like this man no matter what success he brings to our club.

Pissed off that someone had leaked it probably, but to be perfectly honest I don't really care how lvg feels and like I said above its the person who leaked the news that started it, the press are there to get the story.

No, it's not important for the press to show a bit respect. I'm mean, it's not as if they had any other questions to ask like asking questions about the FA Cup final match.

This doesn't fit the 'Jose's a cnut' narration though so behave.

Leaked, informed, whatever, the speculations would be running rampant no matter what as the speculation that LVG's out after FA cup were floating around for months. Everybody was just waiting for the last game to go h.a.m.

We don't know who leaked it, but you're right. The resulting commotion has meant that the managerial news has taken center stage, rather than the cup win. Within less than hour of lifting the trophy as well.

Sky's Haley McQueen said categorically that it was Jose's team that leaked it and that Man Utd would not be happy about it.

Jeez, you're behaving as though it was some sort of state secret before yesterday. Newsflash - the speculation has been going on for months and Van Gaal is old enough and ugly enough to realise he's failed and what the price of failure will be, regardless of his public utterances.

A change in managers gets more views and is more important than FA Cup. Lets top pretending that it is UCL, it is a third rate trophy nowadays. Good to win like any trophy, but on the grand scheme of things doesn't mean much. On the other side, United changing the manager means more to the viewers to whom the media bring the news.

There are more people here who are talking about Mourinho, than FA Cup final. Same as in the media, same as in any other forum, be it of United or rival clubs. Or just other clubs.

ESPN via Miguel Delaney said club sources. The journalists who broke the story also have no real history with Mendes. The BBC guys, Delaney, Wallace, Ogden, those are names that, at first glance, seem much closer to Woodward.

This place is going to be fun, those who already hated Mourinho and those who are pissed off their darling LvG got sacked. Amusingly it's mostly the top reds who have been saying we must support the manager all season.

Over dramatic much? You have no concrete evidence Mourinho had anything to do with the leak. Could have been Ed for all you know.
