"I am where i want to be. United are a CL club and they have been under achieving in the last years. I never hide behind philosophies, there's no such thing as aiming for the top four or CL qualification. The aim is to win matches. We're obviously not going to win every trophy but that's what we want, this is our desire, to win every game.
I have nothing to prove to anyone, there are other managers who have won nothing in the last decade. I'm going to approach this job aggressively and that's what i'll demand from my players. I won't tell them to improve on last season because this means that we'll be content with fourth place. And we will never be content with that.
We'll bring reinforcements for four positions in the first team, we already bought three players and we're waiting for the fourth addition. I prefer specialists in each position to multi-positional footballers. The latter can play a role during an injury crisis but they're not what i'm looking for.
It's not Guardiola vs Mourinho. The competition in England is fierce and there are more than two or three clubs going for the title. When it was Barca vs RM, you could say it was also Pep vs Jose. This isn't the case in England, so i will focus on my team and respect all my opponents.
I have promoted 49 academy players in my career. When you're fighting for all major trophies it's not easy to play youngsters continuously. Most times academy players are given first team football because of the injury crises. My teams don't have many injuries and therefore whenever i promote a young player it's because i believe in him and not because i have no one else to use.
I'm not the reason Giggs left the club. Giggs wanted the job i got and this was the decision of the board and the owners. The board was willing to offer him any other job within the club but he declined. I faced the same dilemma when i was an assistant at Barcelona. I had a secure job but i decided to leave because i wanted to become a first manager too. I wish Ryan the best and maybe he will make the owners consider him for the job in the future.
I respect SAF and all the other legends of the club. I will speak with him and i will ask for his advice but in the end i will do what feels right to me.
Rooney is not a midfielder. He can be a #9, a #10 or a #9 1/2 but he's not a #6 or an #8. A good pass, especially without pressure, doesn't make you a midfielder".
