He's not an MUFC journalist. It might shock you but journalists are entitled to their own opinions.

Balague is a moron but this wouldn't even be discussed here if it wasn't against your club. Stop being so sensitive.

Theres more then one thing going on in the Pogba affair. Pogba being sent to united against his wishes is right at the bottom. Real being unable to come up with an offer to match United is the likely story, unless you have an agenda.

He seems to be having no issues in blowing Guardiola's trumpet though.
No mention of Paying over the odds for 50m John Stones at all. :smirk:

Is Castle really close to Jose?
Castles said Mou wanted four signings last month, he said exactly what four positions Mou wanted, low and behold Jose confirmed all of that on Tuesday.

Nobody can prove Castles gets briefing from Mendes. A lot of what he says about Mendes clients seems to prove true though.

Yeah, imagine a United subject matter being discussed on a United forum.

Journalists are "supposed" to retain an element of impartiality, clearly Ballbag has no interest in even pretending that thats the case.

Imagine City subject matter being discussed on a City forum. It's still seriously deluded when either set (not just them, every set of football fans really) start crying that a journalist doesn't agree with them.

It's not just recently.

I remember way back when Beckham was about to move to Real Madrid, he was on SSN saying that Beckham would be right to leave so that he could join a big club

Read the first tweet again, if you can't see anything wrong with that from a professional point of view, you might stop trying on this thread. Nobody is complaining about what Ballbag writes in his articles, he is taking a sly dig at United fans & calling them out on twitter.

He's trolling United fans to get clicks for his employers and you're all lapping it up. He doesn't work for anyone other than tabloids so I don't know what you expect, he isn't paid to be professional.

I don't know why you take him so seriously, it's like Talk Sport, they make their money by baiting idiots.

Bingo. Its the Katie Hopkins strategy. The more people you outrage, the higher your appearance fees. United has a lot of fans and by trolling them he's generating heat. For anyone who wants to be a media or public personality that's a win-win. I bet his agent is ringing round TV and radio stations right now informing them his fee has gone up!

Trolling over twitter is not something you associate with professional journos, which he claims to be.

Click for what? Check the tweet again, he has not got any article linked in that tweet. He is simply taking cheap digs at the United fans from a verified account he uses for professional purpose. This not professional journalism at all, how many other journos do it?

Agreed, the heat generated would get him monetary benefits in the long run, but that does not mean it can't be criticized. Duncan Castles always gets loads of shite for doing so.

I don't blame him taking a snide at United fans if we use this site/twitter as a gauge for the disrespect shown towards him. In history, if he gave info that United fans didn't like then he'd be called a cnut. Journalists aren't 100% right ever but his record is very good. Its only human to give the odd line back to United fans who get overly emotional for no good reason.

That said, I do think its obvious he has a favour to Spanish Leagues and Spanish managers. But thats almost the norm. English media has bias towards their own and so do French/German ones.

Ballague and Castles act unprofessional at times but they both have genuine connections with big time figures in football. Castles to Mourinho and Ballague to Mendes and Madrid.

That first tweet quoted does seem to overstep the boundaries a professional journalist should have. It seems almost personal. I don't know, how much banter and stick has he been taking on Twitter? In any case, he should know better and apologize for that dig at fans.

Isn't he just tweeting what he knows as a supposed ITK? He's a bit of a tit but I've seen posts with his tweets loads of times on here without people going apeshit at him.

Just because you don't like what he's saying doesn't make it not true and people saying he's bias towards the Spanish....he's Spanish! Isn't Ian Wright bias towards England at the Euro's? Or Rio Ferdinand for that matter?

BREAKING; player prefers Spanish club to EPL club with shitty weather and no CL football.

Don't kid yourself. He's not trolling for clicks. He's trolling because he's getting hate for being so bitter at the Pogba affair.

As a football journalist, long term you make your money by being ITK, not by being a WUM. Look at Castles...

On another note, isn't he from Catalonia? Why does he care about Real Madrid so much?

Who cares?

This is precisely what Balague wants - for you (and other United fans) to get outraged over his intentionally wum-ish tweets. No one would've given a crap if he said: United are going to outbid Madrid - because that's straightforward, and sedate, and a tad unbiased - and that's bad for business. Garbage tier online journalism which is preciated on clicks and exposure for monetization (especially by individual sports journalists - who are professing their opinion - as they're entitled to) relies on sensationalism, and directing the resultant outrage towards more tweets, and retweets, and embeds, and citations; because that's good for business. United-José vs City-Pep is going to be a big story, and Balague's setting up shop already, with his seemingly twisted narrative, and maybe angling towards the Madrid camp, too - in the hope that they'll provide juicy, reliable ITK info. in the future for Balague to advertise.

Start ignoring/muting the clown, and maybe he'll pipe down (not likely, has to be said).

He's always been anti United. He gets very childish about it at times...and when he's not talking about players already playing in Spain he's also always full of shite.

Usually he'd just claim Pogba is going to Real regardless so he must know that's not on the cards somehow. I doubt he has any clue at all whether he's going to United.

Stop paying attention to people on twitter. It will just end in furious disappointment

Nowt wrong with him doing that IMO. No need to water down what your opinion is. That Luckhurst from MEN who this place laps up digs at other clubs/fans all the time. Their twitter isn't their journalistic work.

You are joking right? He's always been massively pro Real and to a lesser extent Barca. Certainly pro Spanish football. And he's a Liverpool and Rafa fan.

He's always smug at any story that comes at the expense of United or an English team.
On another note, isn't he from Catalonia? Why does he care about Real Madrid so much?
He's an Espanyol fan.

I think this video going around twitter and being re-tweeted tons of time sent Ballbag over the edge

There is nothing to click in the first tweet, he is just being a cnut and there is no defending to make. Just call a spade a spade, Ballague is a grade A cnut. Let's move on.

I don't think Real supporters care that much to be honest. Every poll I've seen (at AS, Managing Madrid and some of their forums) indicate that most of their fans don't want Pogba since they believe Kroos would be sacrificed. They're quite pleased with their midfield as it stands.

He's got me blocked on Twitter over that Herrera bollocks the first time round. Hated him ever since.

Meh, 2 out of 3 will do just fine.

Real Madrid supporters have a natural talent for making themselves feel miserable anyways:p

LOL, so true. They have such high standards that a goalless half of football will make them boo their own team.

By what standard is his "record" very good? He recycles gossip and adds his own flavour to it. No more, no less. The idea of assessing his credibility on any level is completely absurd.

Anyone who follows Spanish football knows that Ballague is a fraud that just picks up what local outlets report and present them as exclusives via Sky. He's also a cnut that made money out of writing some shitty bios about Pep, Leo, and Ronaldo that did not contain one thing that wasn't known already. They didn't even allow an interview with him. He'll probably write a book about Bale or iniesta next, the clueless twat.

From what I understand, he really doesn't? He's often one of the first to know about the Bale transfer & its intricacies, the DDG to Madrid saga and was the first to break Di Maria to United. This is just a few examples. He is followed by fellow credible journalists for a reason. Obviously a knowledgeable journalist, but can also be a biased dick. WRT to his stance on Pogba, I don't think he's bullshitting. Its quite likely that Real don't value Pogba as highly as United do, given they have a world class pairing already. He's sour about it too, but we all know that.

There's a theory that Sky fed Balague the ADM story to break on the La Liga show.
If you remember it wasn't treated as his usual 'exclusives' it was breaking news and treated as fact.
Who knows I suppose.

How many rumours do you think he perpetuates, how many do you think proven to be true, and how many do you think are "exclusive"? My view is a lot, a few and almost none, and it's only confirmation bias that suggests otherwise. He's Sky's "local source" for Spanish news so he gets a level of credibility on that alone, and for the 1000s of stories that prove to be untrue no-one remembers because no-one really cares. People just like to read stories. The veracity of them isn't actually in any way important. Ballague knows this hence why he just recycles nonsense with some bullshit that suggests he has inside knowledge. The reality is that's a facade built purely on the fact he's the only regular Spanish speaker on Sky's Spanish football coverage. In Spain his credibility isn't even a point of discussion.

Anyone on the caf can do what he does. "Hey Pogba prefers Real Madrid but Man Utd will out bid them" If he ends up at either he'll say "Ah see! I told you so!" It's so unprofessional and he has a punchable face to boot to
