I understand your opinion, but IMO Pogba cannot yet be compared to Ronaldo and Messi in terms of marketability.
Ronaldo especially is the marketing mans dream.
Pogba may move into their league, but it'll take some doing. He'll probably need to do well in the Ballondor and/or win some big trophies, for him to get the sort of Worldwide following which Ronaldo and Messi enjoy.
Neymar is currently on the upward curve when it comes to marketability and can be mentioned in the same breath as Ronaldo.

Have read of this, regarding Europes most "known" footballing names, last year.

Yeah Ronaldo is a marketing

Totally loving that. Echoes of Cristiano and his Madrid loving grandma.
And it begins "Completed a £100m return to Old Trafford on Monday night"

Erm it was £89 ya cnuts.

I hope he appreciates the difference in reception he gets here compared to what he would get at Madrid. I bet the players are chuffed to have him and see him as an instant center-piece and leader on the pitch. At Madrid he would - I believe - be viewed with scepticism and as a threat by the likes of Ronaldo, Bale, Modric, and Kroos. Hope he feels at home and that will lead to him staying for a long time.

I was fuming when I woke up to see this was all over. I sat around watching the entire bloody rerun of the charity shield waiting for them to cancel it and jump to Pogba, then just after I gave up and went to sleep apparently the world went crazy

Would it be an acceptable accounting trick under the rules for our American holding company to write us a loan of the fee to account for the dollar doing pretty well against the euro compared to gbp? Might save the Glazers a few quid.

We all love United
Is he captain material? We will have his best years tied down here and plays in a position which most suits the captaincy

No, photoshopped.

You can clearly see the difference here. Other block has weird lightning bolts, Pogbas is more pronounced. Clearly photoshopped.

Pogba has them 'lightening bolts' too on the other side of his head... Check his contract signing photo.

You can't understand how people's minds work if you don't know why the chances of signing a player would reflect how they vote in a poll. Many people will pretend they don't want something if they believe there's little chance of getting it.
I am not sure why there is any need to think about our chances of signing him when the question is pretty simple and has nothing to do with our chances of signing him. It just says do you want Pogba for 100m, and the OP has the article that says Juventus will sell him for a fee they are asking.

Huh, I said "if". Sure there's no poll so who even knows.

Your original post said:

You never stipulated why, though. I mean was it because of the transfer fee? If so, then I think over the course of the summer / several fees that have since bee paid, it has become obvious that transfer fees are absolutely ludicrous and are going to continue to rise. I mean, if a poll was created now, I would be pretty confident that nowhere near 30% of the voters wouldn't want him here.
Well, I am pretty sure we would have similar percentage of people unhappy with it, some would be unhappy with the fee yes, but others are mostly unhappy because they don't think he is simply that good from watching him play, especially after very average tournament.

But let's hope he turns out to be great anyway.

I'm just buzzing that we now have a player that will have a pop at goal given any type of room, in and around the box, something we have been in dier need of.

I did the same. Went to sleep just before midnight. Wasn't even going to check when I woke up because it was just after 6am, so thought it would be a few hours yet. Still, Kermit dragged me in and I checked and subsequently caught Muppet Flu and called in sick.

Judging players on a tournament for better or worse has been proven to be a very inaccurate science. Anyhow, I'm delighted to have a player of his calibre in our midfield. We have really missed that kind of midfield dynamism for years now.

Many here thought he isn't that special before the tournament, it's not just the tournament that made some people think he is overrated.

But, nevermind, he is here now, and he better be good.

The thread title says it all "Paul Pogba Manchester United player". Yes yes yes yes yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Huge statement made by us and a big thank you to Ed Woodward and company for making it happen. This would not have happened under LvG no question about it.

Other positives include sticking it to Real Madrid again (they must really not like us now). We have outbid Real Madrid. The richest club in Spain/in the world couldnt compete with us on a financial level. Zidane and Perez apparantely at loggerheads over the transfer plus they missed out on Gomes to Barca.:lol::lol:

So happy we didnt bankroll their attempt at Pogba by spending stupid money on Rodriguez.

Plus the fee is reportedly spread out over 3 years instead of a massive lump sum up front which I expected-certainly what I would have insisted on if I was in charge of Juve.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but frankly anyone who doesn't think this lad is a special talent can't have watched him at Juventus. He's the potential to be one of the very best in the world.

Like mr souness comparing his lovable suarez to pogba, since pogba must score 50 goals a season to be considered worth 100 million

What's the MUTV coverage like today I might find a river.

Or is it just their usual schedule?

I thought they would have got one of Pogba's brothers to do it, this guy does not really look that like Pogba.
It was just for the tattoo. They photoshopped the video one because the devil is even more pronounced in that. You can see the difference in the lightning bolt too.

1:05 of the video.

I think we need a tidy midfielder. Someone like Scholes or Fabregas. I think Pogba might become a very good midfielder, he is not currently based on Euros, but with his long legs I don't think he will ever be considered a real tidy player with the ball. Our best midfielder with the ball is Carrick, a 35 year old and that could be a problem.

The other worry I have is while Pogba is strong and can cover a large area, I don't think he is quick over 10 yards or less. In other words the spine of our team is sorely lacking in quickness: Carrick, Schneiderlein, Fellaini, Pogba, Herrera, Rooney and Ibra. Teams like Liverpool, with quick players all over, will have a decided advantage.

Did we use a stunt man to do the marketing or am I not clued up with the players we have at the club, just seen a pic with Pogba shaking hands with someone who looks like him with the devil on his head like the one in the marketing vid? I know I ain't had no sleep but without sounding racist they look the same....!

They are running a special as we speak, and will probably have more throughout the day.

By the way, Mods, it would be cool to have 'again' in brackets added to the thread title.

Without the ridiculous amount of cash they;re throwing at us, if it helps us get players Pogba, I really couldn't care. It's how football is now.
I agree, dont see how changing the colour of the badge on twitter is anyway differant from it being a different colour on the away jerseys. Have to maximise the marketing potential as well :)

With regards where Mourinho will play Pogba, I'm not so sure he knows himself.

I think he may have to move awayfrom 4-2-3-1 to get the best out of him. Mourinho can bequite flexible though and it can take him time to find the right formation. At the start of his Inter reign, he tried to play with a diamond but abandoned it after a few weeks.

The Pogmoma wore red, nice touch.

The best thing about this is that there will be a lot of young players seeing this kind of attention and thinking 'hmm, maybe it's not so rainy in Manchester'. What does Sanchez at Munich feel after seeing this?

I always find that football fans are very quick to call players overrated when thy don't play for their club. Maybe sometimes they do think that said player is overrated, but just as much of the time it's envy that said player doesn't play for their club.

And with Pogba there's the added incentive that he left us and went on to become an extremely good player; people still obviously felt bitter that such a talent was once here but left before he got a chance.
