Sky news said United timed the Pogba announcement for the Asian market signifying a shift in the club's focus :smirk:

Opted to overlook the fact it was originally scheduled to be announced at 8pm BST...

I think for now Ozil and de Gea are better still. Zlatan too probably.
For outfield only, hazard, sanchez, aguero, pogba, ozil, ibra and de bruyne are in that elite class I think. Not sure if I am missing somebody or not but those are borderline world class for me.

Silva too arguably, but I think he's declined.

Martial at his best is in that bracket too IMO, not going by his current form though. Hope he can pick himself up, will be essential for our title challenge.

Martial had a below par opening game at the Euros. You can forget pre season stuff. Before said game he was on fire. He's in that bracket and he'll murder defences this season.

Cant believe this turned out to be an ad for that body double! Someone tweeted this last week.

Aye, he has been underwhelming since the Euros, but he genuinely looked burnt out, hopefully playing a little less of a role in the beginning of the season and some rest will help him recover.

Is there a better player in the league at running at defences apart from an on-form Hazard?

Can people not do the 'f*cking' thing, it went really, really badly with Schweinsteiger.
Tbf, that was due to an idiot manager who bought a past it player. Pogba probably hasn't reached his prime yet, so the "fecking" thing while immensely stupid, is less likely to go wrong with him.

The player of the year I imagine.

Guardian saying Pogba was given the choice of Madrid or Manchester and chose United.

Also says that the United and Juve talks were straightforward and sorted in 2 meetings - which just goes to show, ignore what agents and clubs leak to the press

In Smalling's pocket (as every other person)
Aguero the best for me at this point. Sanchez up there as well.
Really? He's lost that extra burst of pace after all those injuries and isnt as dangerous and explosive as he was when he arrived, becoming a flat track bully more and more with less relevancy in top matches imo, maybe it was just a one-off season, as Hazard and Sanchez had (Hazard in worse form, Sanchez was still good but not as good as in his debut season).

Find this bit interesting too:

David de Gea’s decision to remain in Manchester, heavily influenced by Louis van Gaal’s departure and the arrival of José Mourinho, has further strengthened United’s position bearing in mind Madrid’s long-standing desire to recruit the Spain international goalkeeper.
I mean, I know it sucks we missed out on CL footy by one point, but there's a chance we could have kept LvG had that been the case and almost certainly wouldn't have bought the players we have done this summer. And lost De Gea.

He can't put together a full season for POTY, he certainly has never deserved one so far. I think with pure goalscorers like him unless you are hitting genuinely absurd figures like a suarez you won't be seen favourably compared to other more involved players like hazard sanchez ozil or kdb.

Sky, Daniel Taylor and Stone from BBC all running with Madrid being snubbed and Pogba choosing United.

We would have been running backwards if that happened, which would have been fitting for LVG's last year
