This, I think he'll be a sub and it'll be worth it for the crowd reaction.
It's going to be unbelievable, probably the biggest reception a player has got since Ronaldo debut? Everyone knew we were watching something special.
I'd say scholes come back but that wasn't at OT

The Pog will be an 8 but be able to be a 10....so how about we call him 8/10?

When Wayne drops deep, Pogba will float up the pitch and link up/play off Zlatan and Martial on the left channel.

Can't wait to see Pogba and Zlatan both stand over a free kick. It's unreal.
I was thinking that - who'll get priority on free kicks? Both fancy themselves on them.

Ronaldos reception kind of grew though, it started off pretty big, nothing special but then he started taking the mick and every time he got the ball people were bouncing. Would love Pogba to have a top game like that, didn't have a cracking euros though and hasn't had any preseason so don't think he will be up to scratch for a month or so.

Yep, Beckham got a great reception when he returned with Milan but that's different to returning as a United player.

Falcao got a huge reception weirdly enough.

Ronaldo's reception wasn't very special. No different to any promising young signing. Would have been similar to Anderson, Kagawa or Hernandez. The buzz at the end of his debut was a bit special but the reception when he walked on the pitch won't be a patch on what Pogba can expect.

The buzz was huge as he had just signed a few days earlier and was being hyped as the most skill-full young player in Europe. Kagawa excitement wasn't close to that and although Anderson was exciting, his hype wasn't as big either looking back. The hype for Hernandez on the other hand was huge on the American tour when he came on. Even when he came on against Newcastle in the league opener people were buzzing to see him play. Pogba will eclipse that though.

Wasn't that weird, really. Falcao came with a massive name and reputation.
'Weirdly enough' is obviously in reference to the fact he turned out completely dogshit despite being received in such a buzzing way. Obviously at the time there was nothing weird about it, no.

Probably Carrick instead of Fellaini, considering he was fully rested today.
I don't think Carrick will be a regular under Mourinho.

I think he was just awarded a new contract cause Mourinho likes to have an experienced head around for the time being, someone who knows the dressing room and club while Jose gets used to the job. And lets face it, after losing Evra/Vidic/Rio/Giggs/Fletcher/etc, there isn't many of them around at United currently.

I'm sure Carrick will come on the odd time and cool the game off. Maybe start the odd game and play in the Cup matches but I can't see him as a nailed on starter. We have Pogba, Schneiderlin, Fellaini, Herrera and if he keeps him around, we have Schweinsteiger as well.

All of those are comfortably better options than Carrick in my opinion.

It's not like we're short of midfielders anymore and have to rely on an aging midfielder. A few seasons back, our only CMs were Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson and Fletcher. Back then, it was understandable. Now? No. We need to be giving game time to the likes of Schneiderlin. Maybe even Blind and Fosu Mensah in the CDM position aswell. There's just so much more exciting options right now. Putting Carrick in the middle of it all would just bring the look of the team down. He's past it and I can't really remember any standout performances from him recently.

We all know it should be Rooney
It will be very interesting how we set up with Pogba in the team. He really does play like having a number 10 that can defend in central midfield which suggests a switch away from a 4-2-3-1 since the number 10 will either need to play almost like a 2nd striker instead of an attacking midfielder like Rooney is doing these days.
There is a danger Rooney will continue where he is and Pogba + one other midfielder will be behind him in a 4-2-3-1 which we have been playing of late :/

:drool::drool::drool:

this reminds me of the Beckham/Fergie fallout. Imagine SAF having to deal with this kind of stuff now
I can't imagine that he would have enjoyed seeing the entire club structure cheer him on with it!

Not to forget Beckham and Ruud, both of which Fergie claimed their heads were turned by Real as season or 2 before they were sold.

Still find it odd that Real weren't as public in their approach for Pogba (the odd Zidane comment) but nothing to the extent of their other galactico transfers. Perhaps his 'poor' euros worked out well for us.

Either way I don't mind one bit!
When did SAF say that about Beckham? doubt it's true, he left for other reasons. Beckham genuinely loved playing for Manchester United and have said many times if it was his choice he would never have left. He's United through and through.

I always think of Cantona's return after his ban :)

Carragher made an interesting point on how rooney and pogba will work, rooney was positioned no10 but he kept coming deeper, if rooney keeps coming deep to get the ball with the holding midfielder, it could work where rooney goes deep Pogba drives forward and they keep taking it in turns. So in the bread and butter games, there could be allot of power in how we attack teams, so we will see

Look at the amount of retweets Pogba got. This is where it is at now. Our sponsors love this, and more sponsors will flock to the club because of it.

I actually walked past a football pitch here in Norway today with lots of kids aged 8-12 or something training, and I could swear to god a few of them were dabbing. A little part of me died, but I thought feck it, atleast they will buy a shirt.

I've seen more United kits on kids recently than I have in the past five or six years. They've all got Ibrahimovic on the back.

The United brand is taking off at the moment.
