Successful in my first away ballot of the season (West Brom)

Is it any easier after they changed the rules, or am I just lucky?

If you read the the email Ticket Office send at the end of every ballot you will notice the execs success rate is falling and the normal ST success rate is slowly going up.

I hadn't had any luck at all this season and then got a call a few days before Swansea away as they had a return I could buy... then the following day I got Everton away in the ballot. It's like buses... nowt then two at once!

The numbers they publish show it's definitely getting easier for ordinary season ticket holders as the application numbers are lower than ever following the rule changes.

A total of 6,113 tickets were applied for, but we only received an allocation of 2,613 tickets from West Bromwich Albion.

81% of these tickets have been allocated to Season Ticket holders and approximately 11% have been allocated to Executive Club Members. Application success rates were as follows:

  • Season Ticket holders in the Loyalty Pot received 24% of available tickets and their success rate = 85%
  • Other eligible Season Ticket holders received 64% of available tickets and their success rate = 36%
  • Executive Club Members received 12% of available tickets and their success rate = 37%

Pair available for West Ham, Stretford End tier 2, central. PM if interested, cheers. That's for the league game, not the cup.

Members cannot apply or get aways.

You have to be a season ticket holder for 3 full seasons before you can apply in a ballot in your fourth season.

If your fathers an executive ticket holder he can apply in a special exec ballot where you do not need to wait three years to qualify.

Your only other options are:

Touts
Someone gives you one at face value

You can meet both types of people at the ground and at pubs near london bridge before the game.
Don't forget disabled members who can apply without a season ticket, such as myself.

I actually have the bizarre situation that I can't get a home PL match ticket for love nor money, but have been successful for all but two of the away matches I've applied for

Palace away the success rates for ST holders was over 50%, much higher than execs. Obviously less people applying for that as it's on a Wednesday night in London so if you get asked to collect and are not going yourself, you'll have to cancel your ticket and collect all future aways.

I have a single ticket going for both the Sunderland game on Boxing Day and the Middlesbrough game on the 31st.

Would ideally look to have them taken as a package.

I'm going to the West Ham game on Sunday and I have to get back to Manchester airport straight after the game, so I'll get a cab from OT after the game ends. Where's the easiest place just outside the ground or close by to get a taxi easily?

What times your flight? And where are you sitting?

Getting a taxi is not easy, some people book them but it is a lottery if you will find them waiting on you when you are out. Reality is people offer them 3,4 times as much to take them instead and some do it leaving you with no taxi.

Also do not underestimate the traffic at the end of the game. Even sitting to the final whistle can add 30-40 mins onto a car journey.

Also do not underestimate how slow manchester airport security can be. Sometimes they check EVERY bag so theres a queue of 15+ people all waiting for suit cases to be checked etc;

Mmmh not sounding good... my flight is at 7.45pm, so about 1h15 after the final whistle.

What would you recommend as the fastest/safest way to get to the aiport on time?

I always find cabs after the game, but that's only because I know where they hide out. They're not official black cabs though, so you'll need to negotiate a fare with them. I usually pay about 15 pounds to take me from Old Trafford to Manchester Piccadilly station. Not sure how much they'll charge for the airport though.

Happy to PM you where they'll be located if you want. You just need to make sure you run out after the game and get there quickly. I usually leave around the 90th minute and I've always found one.

Need to know your seat really to direct you best from there. I know several places where the taxis hang around but I would suggest if you book one saying your going to the airport they will wait for you as that would be decent fare.

Manchester has uber also, and there is black cabs nearby also. Taxi is quickest once you can get clear of the traffic.

Cheers, I've asked my brother what seats we have (he's in charge of it), I'll let you know!

Anyone got a Palace?

Should be able to swap for a West Ham (apply on execs), but obviously can't confirm until the ballot is done.

If not, will swap the next away i get/you want.

So after another failed ballot (Arsenal) I called up the TO and they sympathised and wished me good luck for Spurs which was closing the day after.. I told them I had already been declined

After investigation turns out a family friend signed my dad up to a "fan club" which gets allocated tickets.. therefore every application I had made had been auto declined due to this reason (without it being stated, so I assumed Ive always been unlucky) ..

Naturally I was livid, anyone heard of this?

Car park for Victoria Warehouse should be open tomorrow, £10 to park and it's a couple of minutes from the ground. If your heading south after the games it takes about 10 minutes to get onto the M602. Pomona Strand is £6 but it's a longer walk from the ground.

Sounds perfect, thank you will look for Victoria Warehouse Car Park!

I had given my two tickets to the League Cup QF to a mate. I gave him paper tickets which I received due to being moved for the extra away allocation. Unfortunately, his dog has chewed them (unbelievable I know!) and they are no longer usable. Can I arrange for the ticket office to have duplicates for him to pick up on the day of the game? I'm just checking I'm not breaking any rules so I don't get banned. Any help/advice would be welcome, cheers!

 Jeez.

Something kinda similar happened to me once.

Just call the ticket office and ask them to re-print them for you. Tell them they were misplaced and you can't find them. They'll ask for your account number and will probably ask you/your mate to pick them up on the match day. Just give them your mate's name and tell them he's the one attending the game.

Will this definitely work? I'm paranoid about getting banned. Worst case scenario is I will just have to go to the game and pick them up myself but don't really want to have to waste a day off work for it if possible.

It will work as you are allowed to pass on your ticket to friends and family. Just make sure you don't say you sold the ticket to them as receiving money for any tickets is not allowed (don't know if you have or haven't anyway but just saying).

 Lovely to see that the old, "my dog ate my homework" excuse is still doing the rounds.

Generation X are looking on like  did that ever work?

It's exactly what I said to him once he told me but I've seen the tickets and it seems it did happen! Unless he chewed them himself which would make no sense at all

Yep, as NextSeason said. Just say it's for a relative. They'll ask for his name and that's it. I did it a few weeks ago so should work hopefully.
