Great midweek for City, couple more of those please. When Zlatan doesn't score it seems you guys really, really struggle for goals, just 33 in 23 games. A full 12 behind the lowest in the top 5. Your definately not out of the top 4 battle though, lots of over reactions.
That is a mental stat. I guess I have done some mental gymnastics as I'd have said we have scored much more than that. 33 in 23. What a time to be alive.

After tonight, I just can't be arsed where we finish. This team just doesn't deserve to come top 4. 9 draws in the league is embarrassing.

Four points is of course nothing like an insurmountable gap, but it's not happening, we're just not quite good enough to take the decisive step. We're exactly the same distance from 4th place we were seven weeks ago, incapable of making up any ground on the sides above us. Destined to tread water in 6th position till May.

If we werent out this time last week then we shouldn't be out of it now? Apart from City its like weve all won our games and we move on to Saturday.
We wont get top 4 playing 1 up top against relegation fodder though. Id love to see 4-4-2 and just go at them.

Just waiting for @TheReligion, @Peanut Butter, @Kraftwerker, @Robbie Boy and a whole host of guest stars to educate me that a draw against Hull is so much better than a draw against Chelsea.

Kraftwerker maybe another comic strip to help me understand. Eh? :wenger:
They're both awful results!

You haven't won a game in January and needed 3 points.

We have just drawn against bottom of the league Hull.

Much as people will be crying at the moment, of course we can still make the top 4, it's a mere 4 points away.
I think it would paper over the cracks like it did in 2014-15.

Our whole attack isn't good enough.

People going on about fitting in Griezmann. He is in a different orbit compared to our attack.

Nice timing just before you play them.

You're out of every single competition you're in and no wins in 2017, and you want to gloat?

We know what happens next.

Still 15 games to go, and its very tight - aside from Chelsea I don't think any team is nailed on for top 4. The sides at the bottom are proving much more difficult now than they were a month or two ago.

I still think Utd will make top 4. Ironic that Wenger's last season will actually be the one they finally don't qualify for CL. Also think Spurs will miss out when Europe restarts.
We won't make top 4. Spurs, City, Arse and Chavs.

Liverpool and Utd battle it out for 5th and 6th.

I'm absolutely fuming. Feels like a loss.

We will finish 5th at best, but I don't even think we're good enough to achieve that.
This. Haven't been so annoyed after a result in a while. I wouldn't say that we're gone yet but drawing at home to the bottom side when most of our rivals drop points simply is disastrous. The sooner this season ends the better. Roll on August

Reality is we're in a 3 way race for 4th and are currently outsiders again. We have Spurs, Arsenal, city away and Chelsea at home, not to mention the likes of burnley away which we will fail to win, my prediction - draws in all of them

I love this forum and i dont want to get banned or anything but United won't be getting 4th, it just won't happen after that Hull draw. I actually watched the game and someone as clinical as Mata missing that opportunity just highlighted that it's not meant to be in the league. If you guys focused on the Europa league you could win it, that's the best option imo.
Why would you get banned for a non-offensive football related opinion? Grow a pair man. I don't think United will finish in the top 4 either. I do think they're still in the race though, as it stands. Too many games to go for 4 points to be enough, but most importantly top teams are dropping more points now.

Vitesse, KSV, Rangers,
I respectfully disagree. Everyone is there for the taking including Chelsea. They played poorly against Liverpool and failed to beat a team that had lost to Wolves, Southampton (twice) and Swansea. In fact they had a golden chance to win but missed a penalty (!!!) which shows their lack of mental resilience and maybe they will now start to crack under pressure? Remember this is a team that finished 10th last season. We need to step up the pressure and rack up as many points as possible. If put under enough pressure they could very well panic and bottle it.
sorry...but who is bottling it when under pressure to deliver?

It's not - it's effectively 5 points away given GD. And you've more away games left than home games. And several of those away games are against tough opposition.

Yes, you can still make top 4, but the odds are against it.

Liverpool and Utd are both a bit turd let's be honest.

99% of the deluded Liverpool fans on here think Lionel Mane will fire them to league glory but the harsh truth is neither of our teams are good enough at this moment in time.

A trip to Wembley soon for us though so It's not all doom and gloom.

Why, the way they are playing, do you think they can win the EL ? There are some very decent teams left in ; Roma, Fiorentina, Zenit, Spurs, Lyon, Moenchengladbach, Shakhtar, Schalke, Villareal. And to write off Top 4 when they are (effectively) 5 pts behind with 15 games to go would be crazy. I think Klopp did it with maybe 6 games to go and we were further back. Long way to go.

You're always so agitated.

Pool needed a win. We were desperate for a win too.

It's all moot because you won't win the league now and neither will we. 11 years without silverware! Liverpool FC! What would Paisley and Shanks say?!

Its unbelievable really, especially when you consider Zlatan has 14, than there's Pogba and Mata with 4 each. So those 3 have hit 2/3 of your goals between them. Its a poor showing on Rooney, Martial, Lingaard, Rashford, Mkhi etc...

Using my own club by comparison Aguero has 11 of 47, with Sterling, Toure and KDB adding 5 each, Iheanacho and Nolito 4. Its shows just how much you guys rely on Zlatan in comparison.

Can you please show your workings out in the margins ? 4 teams are separated by 1 point .. of which you are not one of them. United are a further (effectively) 5 points back.

The moon gave me flowers for funerals to come.
You can't draw at home against the likes of Hull, Burnley, stoke and west ham and still hope to get top 4. Pretty sure we have the worst home record of anyone in the top half of the table which is shocking to say the least. Any hopes for this are gone. Hell, it might all be pretty close come the last 4 games of the season, but I fully expect us to get like 5 points in those last 4 games so the only way we get top 4 is if we get a healthy lead going in to the last 4 games. Which isn't happening.
We are also level with fecking Middlesborough with 9 draws.

Not going to happen. There's no chance we could cope when we play Europa League on the thursday evenings.

I have no idea how people can be positive after that! A win here and we are within touching distance. Now we need a 2 game swing again and that's massive!

That was our chance to get ourselves right back in the mix after yesterdays results, but seemingly as always over the past few seasons we're determined to find a way to feck up any chance we have of taking advantage of rival teams slip ups. That is why we are where we are in the league at present, and it's difficult to see us climbing any higher than we are now because we are more inconsistent than any of the sides above us.

Stop with the mud slinging. It's like watching two bald men fighting over a comb. We've both had a terrible start to 2017.
This. I'd argue that our 2017 has been far worse than United's so far.

I still think 2nd to 6th is too close to call. There's plenty of points to play for.

I agree with Cassady - you are so full of shit. Not one Pool supporter on here has said anything of the sort but don't let that stop your fabrication.

And we are 1 point off second. We were playing great football in the first half of the season but had a pretty poor time since Xmas, most teams have a dip somewhere or other in full season. Yesterday however, showed that with a full complement of first teamers we'll be a team that not many will be able to contain/beat. With Euro for the other three, no cups left for us, and most of our toughest Top 6 matches already out of the way (only City away and Spurs and Arsenal at home to go) we should be odds on for Top 4 now.

True, United are still in two cups, but that doesn't matter a jot as even if we win the two domestic cups but end up outside the top four it would still be a bad season.

He's not wrong tbf. Sadio Mane has become Lionel Messi in his absence.

Of course, but a 4-5 point swing can happen very quickly, and on paper we do have a batch of games coming up where that could happen imo.

It does look like we'll be playing the top sides in four of our last seven games, but at that point I think we'll be in the top 4, or alot closer anyway, and like it or not we are capable of beating anyone on our day.

Hand on heart I'm not sure we'll do it, but not a chance I'm giving up on it just yet.

Don't deserve it with performances like that but 4 others of the top 6 played poor this game week so we're still in it. It's just so frustrating to put in a display like that against hull fecking city, again!

The lads have to get some energy and passion back win the next 2 games and we'll be closer to top 4, jeez we might actually get out of 6th

The Caf needs to relax, after 5 games this season Chelsea were certain to miss top 4 (look how that turned out). Next it was United will fall away (they didn't), than City will fall out of contention (they won't), a brief period of Arsenal after they lost at City (they didn't), 2 days ago it was Liverpool are fecked and Klopp is out of ideas (they aren't, he isn't) and again tonight its back to United. Theres 15 games to go 2nd to 6th is seperated by 5 points. Of all the gameweeks for United to drop a clanger and get away relatively unscathed was this one. Its pretty much as you were in the top 6. This week has changed very little. Yes, you need to score more goals, but Liverpool, Arsenal and City in particular need to concede less. Expect those 2-6 positions to swap around alot between now and the middle of May.
