So you admit your arguements are completely void of objectivity?
When Rooney's played poorly, I admit he's played poorly. When he plays badly and gets the stats padding goals, I'll admit it. When he's been dropped, I don't want him close to starting for the team either. Whether Ronaldo starts or not for Madrid is none of my concern. What I said was just true and he was indeed awful and he got his usual penalty to get his goals tally up. I don't understand why United fans get so defensive about a player from another club.

It's preposterous to be honest. I used to find it annoyingly unrealistic on Football Manager when my Wonderkid would retire with a goals to game ratio of around 0.8-0.9. That was when Henry, Van Nistelrooy and Raul were averaging between 0.4 and 0.7.

Then Messi and Ronaldo come along.

I used to think that but his body has seen more stress than Zlatan's.
Not a taunt for the caf's favorite player but if he does continue to be on penalty duty, he can easily score 30 a season for another 3 years over there. 10 from the spot and 20 goals from open play is easy for someone of his quality when it comes to finishing. And he's looked after his body as well as Zlatan imo.

Even Suarez is on those sort of ratios at Barca or atleast close. I really do think if you're a quality player and a focal point of attack in those teams, getting a 0.8 ratio is not going to be hard considering just how many chances Madrid and Barca create.

He's definitely looked after his body as well, he's just had complications Zlatan has been blessed to avoid.

True but I still think he can do 3 good seasons for Madrid (in terms of stats) without having good games (like tonight).

Excuse my ignorance, but how do you mean?
See above.

I can't ever remember him needing any operations.

Yeah I'm not saying he's going to suddenly drop to being a 5 goals a season player. I just think it'll be enough to drop his ratio below 1.0. He's 22 goals ahead of the golden figure as things stand but for this season he's 6 short of it (0.8). It's unlikely he will get back above 1.0 for the next few years so that 22 goals is going to get slowly eaten away.

Hence why I said he'll end up like Bradman and slip just below the golden number.

Question is if Real Madrid would be willing to keep him especially in his role as THE top star if he continues like this. He always got a lot of penalties but he always had a great goalscoring record even without penalties.
This season not so much and there are several players with a better ratio. Compared his stats in the two main competitions and well.. it's quite a drop.

I'm not sure, but Ibra had groin problems between 2004-2007 and I think that he even needed surgery (something with his abdomin I believe). Later on he's also had problems with his knee - (not sure about the spelling, but "patellar tendonitis" aka jumpers knee) and had surgery then as well.

He's also had a broken hand...

So, Ibra has had his share of problems, which is normal, given the fact that his style of play is so physical and that he takes a lot of "beating" from opponent defenders. These are the ones that I can remember, but he's maybe had some other "problems" as well, not sure...

Not sure what kind of problems Ronaldo has had? Thought he only had minor injuries during his career?

Sorry for the off-topic reply...

Didn't he date that model for ages?
I can only speculate, but I think most of these models are cover-ups. Like George Michael back in the day.

Not that I care about him being gay. He could actually do a lot of good if he ever does decide to come out. Probably after he retires.

Interesting. Also ye, doesn't really matter whether he is or not.

Surprised this isn't getting much attention. Money can buy you everything these days. And for some reason Ronaldo is still described by many as a great guy behind the scenes. He felt it's time for his son to have brother so he bought him two.

That's a pretty heavy accusation (if you were being serious - hard to tell these days).

But given that this is a thread about the football player and what he does on the pitch this season, it really shouldn't get any attention at all.

He's scored 26 in 33 this season, probably about to have his worst goal scoring season since he's been at Madrid. This could be the first season in 6 years where he scores less goals than games played. That's an amazing statistic really.

To put this in perspective, even in this lean season he's got the same amount of goals as Ibrahimovic who has been immense for us.

£80 million. We were robbed is all you can say.

Definitely think he's gay. Seriously, IVF and a surrogate mother, for a guy who's arguably the most famous and wealthy footballer on the planet who also happens to be extremely good looking and a nice guy? How is this guy not with a girl? He's never publicly been seen with anyone to my knowledge. This twins malarkey is not something a heterosexual alpha male needs to be doing when he could naturally conceive children with any woman he wants?!

Not meant in a homophobic way, I have gay family members and good for him if so, but I definitely think he's gay - I've suspected for a while, this confirms it for me.

He did iirc. He knocked up an American waitress by accident and paid her 10m for full custody.

He's not gay either, he's dating a 23 year old model. Maybe she can't have kids, or doesn't want to get pregnant due to her career. Who knows?

He doesn't fit the bill for your stereotypical gay person though.

It did cross my mind when i heard the news today something we may never get the answer to seeing as football is quite homophobic.

If he is gay and did come out after his career is finished I'm sure it would help a lot of others to come out as well seeing as one of the most famous and popular players do it.

I hope you never end up in prison. That train of thought isn't going to serve you too well when big Jamal lays eyes on you.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...

Wow.

From what I've seen, he seems like a really dedicated father. He's always being pictured with his son, taking him places (awards, holidays and so on) and looks like a happy, proud, loving father.

Maybe, just maybe, he wants to build a family and leave a great personal legacy as well as a professional one...?

Who cares if he's gay, straight, bi whatever?

I understand that it's interesting, and I've speculated over it myself a good few times, so I'm not judging anyone bringing it up, but when I read this news, the first thing I think is, 'aw that's really cool, good for him and his family', isn't that more relevant a response rather than intense talk of his sexuality...?

Perhaps it suggests more about the sexual confusion of those obsessing over it, than it does about Ronaldo's.

Why are you so obsessed with his sexuality? As for the kids topic if I was that rich I think is best to not have kids left and right and having to support their mothers permanently or something like that, so I can see the convenience of having the mother out of the equation.
