Indeed. Many aren't including the real possibility that each additional season, many of our top targets (ones that Jose needs in attack), may actuall think, "you know what, United are like Milan nowadays"
Exactly. Once you start in one of these spirals its very hard to pull up out of it. Ask Liverpool.

*Sigh*

It's all a bit tedious now. Who knows, maybe our competitors are even worse than we are? It's a shame our ambition has dropped to this.

Desperately unlucky again! Typical crap team comes to Old Trafford and plays its heart out yet lies down against everyone else. Just look at West Brom tonight, whipped by the mighty Watford yet brilliant against us. We may not have been fantastic this season but we've been the better side in almost every game. Its been a season of sods law..
100% this. A lot of the doom and gloom is unwarranted and a bit OTT to be fair. I'm still optimistic about the future. Our 'worst' games have still been a lot better than most of LVG's stuff. We'll be ok next year, I'm sure of it.

Start with De Gea - valencia.Bailiy-Rojo-Shaw- Herrera.Pogba-Rashford-Miki-Martial-Ibra and start to play some prober football. Fellaini should never have worn a United jersey and what on earth managers see in him baffles me. He can not move and is dead slow, does not have an eye for pass, does not assist, does not score and even though he is bigger than most players he´s hardly creating any danger at set play´s either. Hoof it forward is not the United way and having Ibra and Fellaini upfront will never work.

Absolutely feels like a loss.

Nothing we saw out on the pitch should be surprising at this point. We've seen this scenario play out time and time again this season (not to mention last season).

The bottom line, from my perspective, is that the squad still lacks balance and quality. I don't blame Jose for that. I'm not displeased with any of his signings (although Mhkitaryan was underwhelming today), but he needs another summer transfer window to get it right. Too many of our players just aren't good enough. It's patently obvious at this point. They work hard, but just can't consistently get the job done.

We badly need wingers! Not only does wing play define United football, but it also opens up a world of options from an attacking perspective. We are relatively easy to defend against, in large part because we play with no width. Martial would have been a good option today, but Young getting injured took that away. We also desperately need another striking option. I actually thought Zlatan was good today, but we need to add a clinical finisher to replace Rooney and take the heat off Rashford. We also need a couple of midfielders. Aside from Pogba and Herrera, I don't rate any of our other midfielders, recognizing that Carrick is basically at the end of his career. I've had my fill of Smalling and Jones, so another central defender would also be nice.

There's nothing to be done but park this result and move on to the next match. All hope is not lost, and there's still plenty to fight for. Despite the fact that a top four finish is seemingly less likely with every draw, the team needs to push hard to the end of the season.

Rojo was ultimately shit. If he had more cojones, Jaglieka wouldn't have scored. He was too lazy & was waiting for De Gea to make clearance for him.

Bailly was the MVP today, he literally murdered Lukaku with every known defensive trick tonight. Everything Lukaku threw at Eric, he handled them brilliantly.
De Gea should have came out and punched that ball and whatever else was got in his way up into the clouds for that goal. Rojo saved De Gea's hole twice in that game. De Gea was on another planet this evening from what I could see.

How do we as a team "supposed" to be playing fluid attacking football, give the ball away SO DAMN MUCH!? Constantly trying ridiculous long balls, crosses from nowhere ( some bad crossing too) , going nowhere, shots from far and the opposition land up with the ball. We are wasteful, players never consider a second option of the pass and I feel that is hindering us from scoring. Why are our attacks so rushed??

The Young / Herrera positions confusion stood out as the highlight for me, and really symbolised a bigger picture.

Agreed.

Ian Wright was saying the same. We have wasted so many chances this season. Even today we hit the woodwork twice and had a goal wrongly ruled offside.

At home we really have had some astonishingly bad luck. Change even half of those draws into wins and we are right behind Chelsea.

Couple of Jose's:

Jose is not blaming the officials y'all.

If Jose was more calm he'd be asleep.

Is Jose's hair ever going to grow back out again?

Jose thinks Shaw needs to mature.

How was Williams even eligible to play after their derby match and his stamp/whatever it was on Can?

We should play all of our remaining games away.
Well we're in luck. I think 6 out of 9 of them are!

As @Bilbo said yesterday, since the Chelsea game we've dominated pretty much every team we've played. I thought we were crap in the first half but by far the better team overall. Our home record is getting stupid but I'm weirdly unbothered. You can see that we're very close to being a proper team. I'm stlll confident we're capable of turning all these dominance into a shitload of points. Although it may not happen until next season. Ho hum.

Was he red carded for it? If not and it is going to be dealt with then the suspension wouldn't occur until a hearing was complete.

Can't remember the last time we scored a last minute equaliser and I was as not arsed as I was when Zlatan scored tonight.

A draw is no good for us. I'll take it when it's the 93rd minute and we're losing but really it's still a shite result. Top 4 is gone for me

It all boils down to poor finishing.
Herrera didn't need to hit that ball so hard from that position. A simple stab at the ball would have done the job.

None of our players head the ball down in the opponent's box. Pogba keeps missing his headers cos he always heads the ball up. I doubt these players do any sort of training.

We have some of the poorest crossers on the planet. With the amount of set pieces we take in our games, we have scored so little. Jose needs to get several technicians in the summer - this current bunch are not good enough.

1/ too many mediocre players
2/ zero luck
3/ no leaders
4/ players lacking confidence

Time to ship out the mediocrity and bring in 2 new midfielders, a left back, a striker and a centre half

Good post. Can't wait for the next season tbh.

Obviously I hope we'll somehow win the EL. That would mean a good season despite all the crap in the league.
But I think basis for a good team and a good season, the next one, is here. Couple of good signings in the summer and we should be good.

Or I'm just hoping for all this...

The problem is - teams come to OT to defend. A point is ok for them. On the other hand, United are hopeless when it comes to breaking down teams that park the bus.

As soon as Jose spots such awful tactics from our opponents, he deploys Fellaini and the hoofball orgy starts. It's very embarrassing but you can hardly blame Jose when his current crop of players can't finish to save their momma's life.
Of course you can. He's our manager, surely he has to take some responsibility for the way we play? Trying to break Moyes' record number of crosses in the fulham game vs fecking land of giants WBA when Zlatan wasn't even playing just shows how poor a tactician he is on that side of the ball. Doing it tonight was more defensible with both Zlatan and Fellaini to aim at, but it's still poor tactics.

Nope, should've been a retrospective action.

Takes time for the process to happen. It happened like 3 days ago.
Not that I mind given the circumstances but it's a bit silly to be fair. It was on bloody Saturday and clear as a day.

Not surprising. Look at our starting lineup. Apart from only a couple of those players, the rest are at best squad material, and the rest certainly not good enough for a club trying to find its way back to the top. We have been poorly run since SAF left and it shows.

Maybe it's because of the players he has in this disposal and maybe next season with some needed signings we'll be better in braking the bus.
But we make chances, I know it isn't much if you don't score but at least we come close to scoring. :D

I think I'm saying all this to make myself feel better.

I hope you are right but I really think missing out on top 4 again this season could be a turning point that stops us attracting the very top talent we need to push on. Hope I'm wrong.

Prior to the depression this result has induced i was of the same mind. With some additional attacking talent we'd be be turning a number of these draws into wins. We'll get there.

Honestly, if we don't beat Sunderland then we don't deserve CL qualification from any route either that being 4th or winning the Europa .

Top 4 was gone a long time ago, we've failed to beat the likes of Stoke (H & A), Burnley (H), West Brom (H) & Hull (H). When you don't get 3 points from those home games, you don't deserve to get top 4. We've been pathetic in attack for a long while now, that's the reason why top 4 is out of our reach.
