Give peas a chance.
I'm with Jose, we'd still be in the FA cup if we'd have been playing with 11 men at Stamford Bridge. He had the measure of Chelsea then too. Surprised more teams didn't look at that first passage of play we had against them and try to replicate it, I think they will now.

Chelsea will hang on but id love the Spuds to nick it.
You just never know.

As a club, we know from our own bitter experience that it aint over til its over. Were we 7 points ahead with 4 to play when we gifted it to City a few years ago?

I think if spurs win all their remaining games, they will do it. Their goal difference also acts as a point in their favour.

A true Jose performance. Great to see.

I don't think it's the best post-Fergie though. Juanfield was very dominant despite the scoreline, and the 4-2 vs City could have easily been even bigger.

Every player a minimum of 8 out of 10

By far mourinho's best moment as Utd manager

He got it spot on

And can people now please stop slating the squad players. Fellaini, young, Lingard and even Darmian all proved their worth today
Fully agree. The squad players were excellent today. We can't have 25 first teamers in he squad so credit where it's due.

Interesting that Jose said he chose that team due to tactics rather than rest. If we take his word for it you have to wonder why this game was the first time he felt it necessary.

Certainly got the team well up for it.

I believe him in that. Ibra would never have provided the speed and thrust that Rashford, Lingard and Young were capable of. Put it another way, you would never pick Ibra if these were your specific tactics.

Also by making that 'Ibra is knackered' comment before the game, Im convinced he psychologically softened Chelsea a little. They didn't know what hit them for the first 20 minutes.

This is the great thing about football. Every was wanking furiously about Conte recently and slating Mou in comparison and then Mou totally out thinks him. I hope Spurs win the title now. One it is good for the PL to have a new winner and two I want to see that botox wanker Conte put back in his box.

It was just like when Ferguson played Giggs-Fletcher against Chelsea in 2009 and everyone on the caf thought we would lose.
Nah, Mourinho game plan was brilliant but the selection was relatively sensible. We are just a bunch of insufferable drama queens and I'm pretty sure some posters have never seen United play under SAF otherwise they wouldn't cry about Lingard and Young playing on the wings, we have had players like Brown and O'shea in midfield ffs.

Like everyone else at the match, I questioned the wisdom of the team selection prior to the match, but some what tongue in cheek stated, that I remember doing the same when Fergie played Rafael and Fabio as wingers in an F.A. Cup match against Arsenal a few years ago and we thrashed them 4-0. Today was without doubt, United's best performance under Mourinho. Everyone played really well, worked their socks off, that was a traditional United performance using pace and determination to destroy the league leaders. Congratulations to Mourinho on his game plan which totally caught out Conte and congratulations to the players for executing it to perfection. The place was rocking from the start and continued throughout the match. What a welcome difference, early goals in each half make.

Definitely time to play Rashford as a striker where there's space to exploit, keep Ibrahimovic against teams that park the bus, where different skills are needed to unlock them.

Mou was prepared .

And yes .

This was personal .

And I loved it !
Its what I loved the most about today. Hopefully it killed a few demons within him, and provides plenty of gratification and self-belief that he is still the special one.

I'd say our best performance since SAF was the 4-2 win against City in 2015.

No fecking way. And give the insufferable spuds fans on here an actual reason to be condescending?
That was my thought initially as well, but after witnessing Chelsea fans throw Mourinho under the bus since he joined us I have changed my stance.

I now firmly hope that Spurs pip them to the title.

Twats should be respectful towards Mourinho since he brought them into significance. Also it isn't like he joined some historyless flavour of the month either when he joined us.

We've seen Mourinho talk a fair bit about style of play recently.

I've got the feeling the club want attacking football, but Mourinho feels we are better playing his typical counter attacking style. Personally I hope today's performance is a catalyst for more dangerous counter attacking football.

In part because the last time we played this formation against Chelsea we were on the ropes, today we played aggressively and pushed them back.
On the ropes? We were in control until Herrera got sent off in the cup.

Big game: check.

Much needed win: check.

Absolutely questionable starting 11: check.

Players playing out of their skin, Old Trafford stepping up to the occasion, 3 points: check, check, check.

Totally Ferguson-esque! :D

Talking about tactics - wow, that took balls. When Chelsea brought on Cesc, and United brought on Carrick, I thought it was going to be a mess in the middle of the park for United. But Mourinho simply asked Carrick to play in an advanced role in the beginning and slowly, you could see him easing into his positional role in front of the defence and Fellaini playing in the advanced role. The transition was so smooth, all the while Pogba and Herrera continuing to play their roles as they had been. When Matic was taken off, I thought United didn't have enough cover on the wings but the players were solid.

Expected a boring 0-0. Not going to moan about being proven wrong.

Unfortunately didn't get chance to watch, but soinds like we humiliated them. Shame we didn't get another 2 so it was even though. Jose has a good record of fecking up his opponents title race when his team is already out, so would love to see them throw it away now.

Best I've seen United play in ages. Possibly since Fergie left. That Fellaini - Pogba - Herrera midfield today was terrific from you guys. Also, pleasure to see Rashford looking more like himself. The game today was ideal for him - he has the making of a good striker if Jose keeps playing him there. Now I must say that Chelsea struggled massively today because we have no depth in our squad. We have no real substitutes for our wingbacks, and as soon as Alonso wasn't available I knew this would be an absolute struggle to win for Chelsea.

Questions must be asked though - where has this United been hiding? We need you guys to do us a favour against Spurs, but they're a much more difficult team to face than we are at the moment.
Legitimate question.

The stats say Utd have missed more scoreable chances than anybody in the Premier League. Having watched all but one of our games this season, I can't explain why we miss so many easy chances.

A month ago Rashford misses that one on one he scored today. I've seen him miss similar ones this year. Missed one in the FA Cup quarter final against you lot. All of a sudden the penny's dropped.

Guess a little public criticism hasn't hurt? Mourinho sifting the men from the boys. Shame the squad didn't respond in more of those stupid draws this season...
