Lets go all out attack. 3 at the back, 2 wing backs and 3 youthful attackers. It would work.

Romero
Valencia Smalling Blind Jones Young
Herrera Pogba
Lingard Rashford Martial
Young's injured, is he not?

I am so fired up for this game, it really feels like the biggest game in recent times .The fact that Manchester will attempt to put aside their grief on Wednesday in a Europa final ,this is a game we have to win.We have a chance
to win the only trophy we have never won and, in doing so, secure a place in the Champions League, and improving our chance of securing our potential transfer targets. We will also become only the fifth club – after Ajax, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Chelsea – to have won the Champions League, the Europa League and the European Cup Winners' Cup.
This final can't really get bigger than this ,my nerves!
I think it is time for a drink!

Getting really nervous now and I can't really remember the last time I felt like that before a United game. This is huge. I think the team that will start is fairly obvious now, Romero, Valencia, Smalling Blind, Darmien, Pogba, Fellaini, Herrera, Mki, Lingard, Rashford. If these 11 men don't start I will be somewhat surprised. I think we need to go at them early, sitting back and trying not to lose could be the worst mistake we could make. Get on the front foot early and bury them. We could be an incredible force next season if we win this, lose it and another 12 months or so of frustration could well await us. Good luck to the lads.

So incredibly pumped for this game! Win it for United, win it for Manchester!
So much more to this match than just man Utd winning a trophy, it's a middle finger to the scum, a show of defiance, we won't be silenced, we won't be beat down, we carry on and show them what we as manc's are made of.

Come on United!!

I haven't been this nervous for a football game since the 2011 CL final. Hoping the beer will calm my nerves as we approach kickoff.

Come on lads!

I see United winning 1-0 or 2-0, so they'll have a UEFA Super Cup game vs Juventus hopefully.

I am nervous, happy to be at home an hour before kickoff, otherwise i would lose the plot waiting and doing nothing

No names were given but "tomorrow is huge" was a direct quote from Woodward.

It's nothing we don't know already really but just interesting to hear it from the horse's mouth.

I don't think we need Woody to tell us that Griezmann should join if we get CL, when the Griez is saying it himself!

I asked my brother to ask him what he was thinking when he hired Moyes but he wouldn't.
Ferguson and Gill hired Moyes

At the risk of sounding hyperbolic the more I think about it the more I think this game is the most important one-off game United have played, at least since the European Cup Final of '99. You can, of course, make arguments for other games, but in terms of where the club is now, what's happened over the last 4 years, and where we need to be it's massive on so many levels.

That is a huge amount of pressure to be carrying into the game, without even considering what impact recent events in Manchester might have too. My hope is that the players are either a) so focussed on the game, or b) too stupid/not arsed/not deep thinking enough for the wider ramifications of losing to not be weighing too heavily on them.

Nervous as hell (sort of akin to Cup winners' Cup final in 1991 more than, say, 1999 when I at least knew we would score goals) but worse is how slowly the day at work is dragging. I just want to get home and watch

If we are focused on the game tonight we will win. My fear however, is that the events of the last 36 hours will have an effect on us. On the other hand it could galvanise us, particulalry local players like Rashford and Lindgard. If we win it will be a very emotional evening.

You can definitely make that case. It sounds ridiculous but the more you think about it the more sense it makes. I think I agree. It is of course a sign of how far we have fallen. But yes, all things considered this is more important to the club - just - even than the CL win of 08.

United should play the game on it's own merits. No distractions. Just win.

For this reason it's going to feel so fecking good if/when we win! Higher the stakes the bigger the joy.

Trying not to contemplate how it will feel if we lose!

I expect us to start slowly while Ajax will attack like mad.
That what most probably will happen.

I said in another thread that problem of a team consisting of young kids is they don't have enough experience to divide their work rate on 90 minutes and will go and press high as possible as they can from the first minute, burning their energy and will lead to their form most probably dropping by 60 minutes or something like that.

We need to control the game very well at those first 20 minutes and stop all their chances to score, then we will grow slowly into the game and win. The start of the game is very important and we need to use experience very well.

All the awkward teams from the Knock-out round, like Spurs and Roma, are long gone. I'd have snapped your hand off for an Ajax final a few months ago. I must confess to lumping some cash on an Ajax win though, as insurance, just because I'll need a long, boozy holiday if the game goes tits up.

I keep thinking that surely we will get past such an inexperienced side from the Dutch league! But it's the fact that it's Ajax, such a huge name in European football. They will want this so much.

We keep saying it's our biggest game since 2011 but it's there biggest game in two decades. Regardless of the standard of the Dutch league they will be onto us from minute one. We can't afford a repeat of the League Cup final performance.

Maybe they were right about losing being a blessing in disguise. I see tens of posters here being more nervous than excited for today's game.

I'm both actually :houllier: still think we'll win

I'm just worried that Jose looks to park the bus. If we let our attack lose on that defense we we win this.

Great respect for Ajax, and their history & philosophy. I wish we were playing another club.

Feel like I haven't been this excited for a game for a long time. It's not a FA Cup/League Cup final against a team who we're clearly better than.

Ajax can really hurt us, it's actually going to be a great match to watch.

I haven't been this pent up and nervous since I was a kid.

Without exaggeration; this game is more important to win than any match we have played this century...it's much more important to win this than it was any of the '08 '09 '11 CL finals.

The trophy is growing on me.

Take out the orange Europa League logos that is usually the backdrop to it and it's a class bit of silverware.

I think United will start the first 10 minuts atacking to try to make a quick goal and defend. Ajax was weak in the first 10 min vs Lyon and Schalke and couldnt handle the pressure. I'm sure Mourinho noticed and will set his tactics accordingly. If United doesnt make the quick goal and let Ajax play their style it will get hard for United.
