Well you would know better than Jose.
I said the exact opposite of what you're implying. I'm just saying that personally I'm not that impressed by the guy so if we are in for him then clearly Mourinho sees something that I don't.

Surely if our manager and scouts think he's good enough, bringing in a 28 year old is ideal. We'd all be hoping to see plenty of Rashford, Martial, Tanzebe, Fosu Mensah etc. playing next year. Surely bringing in a player who should be in his prime is a good thing.

I hate these snide statements. Firstly, the manager isn't always right and secondly, this forum is for supporters to voice their opinion on club related matters. If differing opinion was pawned off with sarcastic nonsense like "you would know better than Jose" then you shouldn't bother contributing tbh. Just sit in a corner and praise the faultless manager we have.

Jose is impressed..should be enough for people to give him a chance.
Agreed. I'm not writing him off, I'm only saying that I have doubts. I have doubts about eating a double cheeseburger from McDonald's - doesn't mean I'm not going to give it a chance. Maybe this thread is so full of negativity that you're seeing any form of concern as outright criticism?

You're nothing but a snide troll who offers nothing but insults towards posters who don't kiss the arse of every move the club makes.
You should calm down.

It's not odd to find some people's obsession with transfers and shiny new players odd. I've never noticed you on the boards until the season ended. People losing their minds with reactionary over the top dramatics because we're losing the transfer window 2-0 to city?

Most have a passing interest in our summer activity and are happy to let the professionals do their jobs and not live and die on newspaper rumour and our own FM/FIFA dreams - it teeters on lunacy.

Rubbish.. you can critique everything about a manager except for the players he buys UNTIL said players get a chance to prove themselves as a good or bad purchase. Considering the success of his first transfer window he deserves some faith.

Why are we losing 2-0 and since when the transfers league opened?

I don't think resale value isn't all that. You can make your money back by selling or winning and I think we all prefer the latter ;) and on top of that, we have kids coming through who have good potential.
Surely, however there's probably still a chance, like with any signing, that Perisic won't adapt well to PL and we might end up with an overpriced player who proves to be difficult to sell on, vide Fellaini (I know that many have changed their opinion regarding him and I've also had to some extent, but his end of the season performances haven't influenced my opinion of him not being a desired squad player for United).

I dont see the need for concern. What is it about the player or Joses talent spotting that concerns you?

What an odd rule.

We can still raise question marks over transfers that make little sense. You're seemingly acting like the people who don't really want this transfer (including myself) will refuse to support the player or write him off before he wears the shirt.

We can still raise an eyebrow at the profile and the fee, it doesn't mean we are jumping the gun when a lot of us have seen Perisic play often enough. By your logic no one should have been baffled by the Fellaini purchase at the time of the transfer. Doesn't make sense.

Perisic is turning 29 in a position where age catches up with you fast, he's patchy in form and not exactly setting Serie A on fire. There is nothing wrong with posters being doubtful of his success with us or saying he's bang average for the price we're paying, because quite frankly, he is.

Been on squawka to see how his stats compare to our current wingers. All our per 90 minutes.

GOALS
Perisic 0.36
Mata 0.33
Mkhitaryan 0.27
Martial 0.23
Lingard 0.07 (Awful)

He scored the most.

SHOTS
Perisic 3.40
Lingard 2.44
Martial 2.43
Mata 2.17
Mkhitaryan 2.14

But only because he's taken more shots than our players.

SHOT ACCURACY
Mata 66%
Mkhitaryan 62%
Martial 56%
Lingard 52%
Perisic 49%

His shot accuracy has been worse than all our current wingers. Which is shocking considering our finishing.

CHANCES CREATED
Mata 2.45
Perisic 2.00
Lingard 1.91
Mkhitaryan 1.87
Martial 1.39

He has decent chance creation.

PASS COMPLETION
Mata 89%
Lingard 88%
Mkhitaryan 84%
Martial 82%
Perisic 71%

But he loses the ball a lot more than our current options. Mata's creation + possession is fantastic and Lingard/Mkhitaryan are decent. Martial's is poor though.

SUCCESSFUL TAKE-ONS
Martial 2.61
Mkhitaryan 2.00
Perisic 1.34
Lingard 1.32
Mata 0.84

Underwhelming considering his supposed pace. Martial being clearly the best and Mata clearly the worst is not exactly a surprise.

TACKLES WON
Perisic 1.21
Mkhitaryan 1.14
Lingard 0.99
Mata 0.89
Martial 0.87

HEADERS WON
Perisic 1.80
Martial 1.27
Mkhitaryan 0.60
Lingard 0.26
Mata 0.22

INTERCEPTIONS
Mkhitaryan 1.47
Perisic 1.15
Lingard 0.92
Mata 0.67
Martial 0.46

He has excellent defensive stats. 1st in tackles, 1st in headers, 2nd in interceptions. If there is a reason why Mourinho would want him it has to be this. Note that Mkhitaryan (his other winger signing) also has good numbers while Mata (who he sold at Chelsea) does very poorly and Martial (who has regressed under him) is terrible apart from headers.

Someone said it yesterday, may have been @Maradona10 from memory.
Thanks for the heads up. For what it's worth as long as City don't fix their fullback nightmare and their unbalanced center midfield, they are at minus 20.

I'm plenty calm and I post in the build up and after every game we have whether you have noticed me or not. I'm just sick of posters like you and the guy I actually quoted trying to tell others what to do, how to post and what to think, now I don't know your other activity here but Ramshock does nothing but go from thread to thread taking personal swipes at anyone not towing the party line.

I'm also not bothered that City have signed 2 and we haven't signed anyone yet, you won't find a single post in that regard, I just think this player is very mediocre and I have the right to give that view on a message board without being attacked personally, nothing more or less than that.

I think that he wastes a lot of chances and we already have a problem with that, so I'm concerned about adding another player to the team that isn't all that great in front of goal. But he's also very fast which we're screaming out for, so who knows how he'll be. Like you said; we have to wait and see how he does.

On another topic; don't tell me what I can and can't say on a thread again, last time I checked you weren't wearing a Gestapo uniform. You're worse than some of the moaners.

They sign two quality improvements on their team, we none. It maybe early but we are 2-0 behind.
So you are a proud recidivist? Come on dude, we will count the points at the end of the window and even then it will be too soon.

Oh, different opinions to the manager? Might as well pack up redcafe if its a golden rule not to disagree with Jose Mourinho.

For someone talking of common sense, you seem to lack a lot of it.

Gestapo? Overreact much? Jose thinks he is worthy.

2 goals conceded in the first few minutes. I hope we can somehow come back from this shock.

 Madness isn't it? I can't believe people are scoring transfers.

EDIT: May need goal line technology because I'm not sure the second is over the line...

I don't think anyone minds a player like that (in the squad at least). What people are (probably) reacting to is the price being touted. Which shouldn't be of much concern to supporters provided the other areas of the pitch are addressed.
