One question- apart from Michael Carrick is there a player in our squad who played with CR7? I know Rooney but he will be gone before August.
Nope, Lingard would have been around the youth setup then, but that's it. Shame when you think how many of the 99 European winning squad stuck around for so long, the one from 08' kind of fell all at once.

The amount of overrating this Real Madrid team on here is really astounding.

Been there last year by business. From Zagreb (although you probably now this already) it's about 10 hours trip with a car. Also, you have flights every day with Croatia Airlines.

Skopje is pretty cheap. Beer is around 1,50€, meal around 4-7€. The ticket for the game will be a likely problem, though, especially with that stadium capacity.

Anyway, thinking about it also...:)
You're from Zagreb? :)

Yeah it's pain in the ass to go by car. Better with plane maybe. I know about the prices, you can be a king there with 100 kunas I reckon. :D
Stadium is small, yes, so tickets will hard to come by.

Anyways maybe we can be there for the game in some fan zone. :)

We are far and away behind Madrid it's scary.....I'm not looking forward to playing them now but with the right additions in the team, we'll be better to give them a proper game....

Yes he was Macedonian. A people who spoke Greek, worshipped the Greek gods and spread Greek culture as far as India.

Just because the people of Skopje call themselves "Macedonians" it doesn't mean that they have anything to do with him. Want to see Phillip II's tomb? Come to Vergina, Greece.
Ah,you mean Vergina that was established in 1922!On the site i believe of Aigai the first capital of Macedon?

Yes, Aigai, Macedon. One of four places in Ancient Greece known as "Aigai", seeing as it is a Greek word and Phillip was a Greek speaker.

To quote Robin Lane Fox, professor at Oxford and the leading authority on Alexander:

"Macedon is a Greek-Speaking kingdom in Northern Greece, populated by people using Greek names, Greek months and worshiping Greek Gods. Those who live in Skopje, and say that is Macedon and Alexander’s home, are as Ignorant and Outrageous as if someone was to say that Oxford University was really in Belarus and Oxford was Minsk. “

:D Traveled from Zagreb last time when I went there. But, how many of my relatives live in Zagreb, I can consider myself half from Zagreb, half from Zadar.

And yeah, I reckon that plane is better idea and will be probably the choice in the end. Will think about the ticket when I get there and as you say can also settle for some fan zone or a pub. As a king with 100 kunas like you say.

I also don't think they put the tickets on sale yet, as they even didn't know until yesterday who will be playing. You could make some pre-order through UEFA but forget to do that.
Edit: like I would get the ticket even if I did...

I wonder what the prices will be. As it's Uefa supercup they will be expensive I think.

Let me know if you decide to go. :)

Great combo btw, Zadar and Zagreb. :)

I think we'll win. Also, Ronaldo might not be involved due to the Confederations Cup.

I don't make predictions, never thought they'd be able to score more than 2 against Juve and they did. We'll see what happens, winning it would be nice but losing wouldn't be a disaster. It's still a "preason" cup.
Shit happens. Man United can also just score 4 past Madrid. But with Mourinho, we don't need to worry much. He will have a plan, a better one than Juventus and we will win it. Didn't Celta Vigo beat Real in a cup knockout game recently?

They did but in the end it just depends on whether they will take it seriously or not. Personally I don't give a feck about it, whether we win or lost, it won't mean much to me.

I'm obviously wrong but I always thought the super cup was played at Monaco's ground ?

Can't say I have ever watched one in its entirety unless it involved us.

Overrating ? They won 3 CLs in 4 years. They are the only side in the world that you can't overrate them.
They are a great side but, you can get at them. They always show some vulnerabilities defensively. We do not need to just put everyone behind the ball to play them.

With this and then the Charity Shield before the PL even starts I can already here Jose moaning about fixture congestion.

That's what I agree on, any match is playable on the pitch and you always have a chance to win even if it's small, but they're sure not overrated.

Whilst I agree that last night demonstrated the kind of classy performance Real are capable of, and that we don't look anywhere near that level right now, Mourinho knows about them firsthand - this is probably our ace card.

Marcelo, Ronaldo, Varane, Carvajal, Ramos, Nacho, Benzema, Coentrao, Modric, Isco

^ All played under Jose. If anyone will know their vulnerabilities it'll be our manager. If anything, he can at least try to nullify their individual threats with good coaching and instructions on the night.

Isco did not play under Jose.

But he does know the others well.

Still, it's a different team from the one he managed.

You are correct Macedonia is a Greek state the current Former Yugoslavian republic of Macedonia stole Greece's history. Didn't they use to be Yugolavia 30 or so years ago then overnight suddenly changed nationalities?

A couple of good signings and a good pre-season and there's no reason why we can't give them a good game. I don't think we're as far away as people think we are from becoming great again, probably 2-3 years but I reckon we will improve drastically from this season with 3 or 4 very good signings.

For that reason I think we could catch Real on a hangover and do them 2-1.

Yea. They gained independence and attempted to build a nation on forged history. Building statues, renaming airports, fabricating documents.

They even claimed at one point that the Rosetta Stone wasn't written in Demotic Egyptian but rather an ancestor of their Slavic language.

It's a shame that a game between such 2 big teams isn't being held at a bigger venue. Should move it to Westfalenstadion or Camp Nou lol

This is my sentiment as well. A few shrewd signings and United's first XI should be able to give them a good game.

Overrating? Mate look at their starting lineup vs ours (UCL and UEL final lineups)

Navas <DDG
Carvajal>Valencia
Varane>Smalling
Ramos>Blind
Marcelo>Darmian
Casimero>Felliani
Modric>Pogba
Kroos>Herrera
Isco>Mata
Benzema>Miki
Ronaldo>Rashford

De Gea is the only one who would walk into their starting lineup. Midfield is a difficult comparison because of the different roles, but only Pogba would make it to their team. That's literally it. That being said we have a chance of beating them but the odds are not in our favor we have bad history with the Super Cup and with Madrid in general.

Imagine the wankfest this'll cause if we beat them with our new look team...only to draw 0-0 at the first PL game of the season.

If we go with the new signings ( supposedly fabinho if he comes or anyother ) our midfeild has the same quality as madrid's with more physicality.
You imagination really runs wild. I love reading your fairy tales.

Having said that, I see people here having problems with signing players who were sold by Real Madrid because they were not good enough, but at the same time I see you all generally liking the idea of signing Fabinho. Why is he the exception?

How can we get tickets for this ?!
Two options.
Firstly UEFA will be opening a general ballot in next few weeks and you could apply through UEFA.com

Alternatively you could buy a Utd membership and this allows you to apply for tickets in the Utd end, when Utd do their ballot.

Details will be published on ManUtd.com.

We are apparently getting 8000 tickets and I reckon if you apply as a Utd member, you will be guaranteed a ticket going off that allocation.

Also note you'd get euro 2 credits if you attended this game, which would help if there was a champions league away game next season you fancied going to.
Hope this helps.
