We just confirmed the deal to the Stock Exchange. 35 million euros, plus 10 in clauses.

Is he a Vidic type defender? He looks like a young Vidic.
Definitely not. He is far more similar to Ferdinand. Passer not an aggressive tackler. Decent positioning (nowhere near Rio's level of course). He should allow Bailly more freedom to make tackles and apply pressure without having to worry about the space behind him being exposed

I trust Jose when it comes to defender's. I haven't seen enough to judge. Glad we are getting our transfer window up and going. Good price too, considering the market. Welcome Victor.

I wonder if Mou is planning to play three at the back allowing Lindelöf dictate our play? His longe range passing is sublime for a defender.

Lindelöf can definately fill in at right back so that issue is now solved, he might even be our long term future right back? It will be very interesting to see how Mou will use him.
I guess we will learn more with our next few signing to get an idea. Not sure if he has played 3 at the back before maybe in certain situations because of injuries.

I know nothing about the guy but I think it's fair to say that he'll probably be better than smalling and Jones.

Also I'm pleased we signed a player and didn't pay £60 million for the pleasure. It seems in this window £60 million is the new £40 million.

I rate him highly. I think he will be a very useful player for United. Playing for Mourinho will make him even better. He will have to improve his aerial game. It's not poor but the Premier League is much more demanding than our league. Good composure (nickname Iceman), decent set pieces taker, can play as right back too, giving more options for the manager. He has decent technic and passing game. He can play in multiple defensive schemes, good reader of the game (controlling the offside trap) and isn't injury prone. With his age, if he adapts to England, having him, Bailly and if Rojo mantains his level, you will have your defensive options sorted for a while.
Thanks Sly, I've been watching him closely since Jan and what i can he is very composed on the ball and his reading of the game is excellent so hopefully he will be the perfect partner for Bailly.

I hope he really is as good a ball-playing centre-back as some claim him to be. Something we sorely missed. Together with Bailly, who is also quite decent under pressure, that hopefully leads to us not hoofing the ball forward under any sort of pressure on our centre-backs.

Welcome. Now we can lose one of the keystone cops.
Looks like we could now have three strong centre back partnerships: Bailly-Lindelof, Jones-Rojo, and Smalling-Blind. The latter two proved to be an excellent partnership in the PL and in Europe this past season, and the first pair could be our next Vidic-Rio for next 10 years. Given the way our defenders have dropped like flies every season in the last 8 years or so, I would hope we hang on to all of them. Playing them less could also minimize the chances for our sicknotes (Smalling, Jones, and Rojo) to injure themselves for large stretches of the season. Keep them all, please Mou. I think we have the makings of the strongest defense in the PL across the entire season and across all competitions.

No more centre backs it seems, Duncan says Mou wants to defensive additions, looks like we are getting a left back too.

I really doubt it. Would be a massive change for Mourinho.

Yup, it would be a massive change so it is not very likely. But Lindelöf's passing is his main asset and he is better in that aspect than any of our other CBs, and I rate Rojo and Bailly higher as defenders than Lindelöf, all things considered, and he does not have the pace of Jones and Smalling. So maybe we shouldn't rule Lindelöf out as Carrick's replacement either, even if Mou probably plans to use him as a CB.

I really think we need to fire one of those guys. They're team mates in hospital more than they are on the pitch.

I think that's Mourinho's idea. Like i said he needs to work on his aerial game, in both ends. Needs to be a bigger threat in offensive set pieces. Other than that, i think he's a good signing. Sensible start to the transfer market. I like the look of United's defense. Bailly, Rojo, Lindelof, Smalling, Blind, Phil Jones, that's impressive. Now seriously focus on a decent striker and a couple of quality wingers.

I wish we'd done a double deal and gone for Grimaldo too.

Not at all. I'm a big fan of Rojo. I would imagine when fit he would play as first choice LB.

Especially with Shaw on shaky ground with Jose.
Jose admitted himself that Rojo's a bad LB, so I doubt it.
