Yeah Griezzy, there were headlines out of nothing. He doesn't appear to be the smartest one when you look his handling with the media.

Did not want anyway. Just kidding, he ia coming next summer, Herrera style
The comparison with Herrera is nothing alike.

Herrera wanted to join us the first time we came calling, our actions prevented it.

Would rather we did not go back in for Griezmann. Has shown himself to be completely indecisive. One day the chances of joining us is 6/10, the next he's Madrid forever.

No thanks.

Any player that calls moving to us a dirty move (in context of the ban or not) can feck off. Let him win feck all for the next few years.

Let's move on. I doubt we'll buy him next season and now let's focus on players who want to come

Not a single word about the release clause, but I assume it will be higher now.
Feck off Griezmann :lol::lol::lol:
You assume wrong.

None of the early reports mentioned it. If it were higher you can be damn sure Aleti would have screamed it over the tannoy.

A day later all the mentions of the release are that it stays the same, which effectively means pay bump until January or whenever it is finally triggered.

Mind you, it's not a MU clause, anyone could trigger it and I suspect AG will soon realise you can't fix what has been broken. He will be counting the days until some decent club comes calling and puts him out of his misery.

He needs to keep his mouth shut regardless now. Most of my Atleti friends would rather have Diego Costa come in.

Antoine Griezmann: "Since I have arrived I've given everything for my club and I am very happy to live another season more with all of you."

Signed 5 years contract and happy to live another season only. Obvious huh

I keep telling people he's a troll just like his stupid brother. And people really believe he's coming in January? Yeah he's coming in the winter when he buries a brace at old trafford and clowns on the Swedish John stones.

People can bang on about loyalty, he was chatting and flirting with idea of moving all season through the media. I'm not as convinced as others that he was sure about the move, never really wanted it. I think things like Pogba and the wages and star profile were appealing but the drive to be here wasn't. I want players who want to come to United and do what it takes to make it happen, when given the opportunity to play for us. Transfer ban my hole, Athletico could sign players in January. He never wanted it enough and nobody will convince me otherwise. Some of the comments about next summer and release clauses, give me a break. If a girl stands you up on a date, do you keep contacting her to get another date. The smack of desperation in this thread is sad and pathetic. I wanted Griezmann but ultimately be turned us down, move on to people that want to be at Manchester United.

fecking hell, talk about giving a player a chance - he's not even joined us yet and you've already written him off. Chump.

Hopefully this saga is closed forever. Fair enough he wanted to stay but we aren't a 'come and go as you please' open house event. We need to finish the jigsaw puzzle this summer, not wait until next year for the missing piece.

You should take a brake from transfers, it's clearly too much for you. What was he supposed to say? 'Yes, speculation was 100% true and I wanted to join Man United but I couldn't leave Atletico in the shit because of the transfer ban so we agreed to a pay rise having same release clause so I could leave next year' ? :wenger:

If we're going to buy in January why wait until the last day? Get it done 01.01.2018.
Yeah, I'd take him in the first week of January.

At the first sign of any fuss or hesitation I'd pull out of the deal permanently. I want us to sign him but don't want us to embarrass ourselves by begging him, and letting him mess us around.
Yeah I agree but we will have to wait for Atletico to complete a very messy and protracted purchase of Costa first to replace Greizmann :lol:

The fact that the release clause has stayed the same just says that he wants to go next season. Have to wait a season for Griezmann perhaps? Worth it or would you rather him just never come now? This upcoming season United will win trophies, the next season after we probably won't win jack, bad choice Griezmann, bad choice. I would really hope Mourinho comes up against Atletico in the knockout stages of the champions league and we beat them, and even though we won't, win the CL, wonder if he'd begin to regret his decision to stay then.

Well, I have seen many desperate people who would do way more than that. :D

Agree with your post and I'm really not bothered with this one.

Glad this saga is over early. We can wait until next year for the muppetry to begin again.

That was different. Ronaldo really wanted to leave, I am not sure how bad AG really wanted to go - not enough it seems
If we go by his public statements, we know with more surety that AG wanted to join us. Ronaldo was slightly more subtle than him in fact. For their own reasons, if AG wants to remain with Athletico for one more season (the transfer ban, etc.), its quite similar to how Ronaldo agreed to one more season after Fergie appealed to him. I am as pissed off that this move didn't happen as anybody else, but if he wants to come next season, we should gladly accept him IMO. Its not like our squad is full of world class players already.

His release clause not being changed makes it obvious that he's probably coming next summer. Fine with me!

Well lets see. I am not so sure he will come as so many things can happen

He is an attention seeking prick.

Would hate to see us get him next summer, he strung us along, there were rumors from France he would stay and then sign for Real next season - seems obvious now.

Relax, it's his loss just as much as ours. It's not like he's betrayed us or anything. In fact it's good to see that he wants to stay and help Atletico out during their ban. People taking the comments hard should think about the other end of the spectrum when he was openly talking about being odds on to move for United. He also talked about how scoring goals wasn't enough for him and he wanted to add titles. Now if that De Gea talking like that we would all be outraged. Griezmann is simply saving face and trying to win the AM fans back.

Career wise, him coming here would give us a better chance of winning the title than Atletico will have of winning theirs. He'd get a higher salary here, and his profile would be increased even more. Not to mention he'd have nothing but adulation from the fans and would get to wear the #7 of his idol. So again he's not made the best move in that regard, but we should respect his decision.

Personally If I were Jose I would plan ahead assuming Griezmann will not be joining us at any point. As a fan, I'll be assuming the same. No need to get my hopes up necessarily. However, objectively speaking there is still a fair chance he will come to United by the end of next summer at the latest. If it happens, great we'll be adding a fantastic player who will fit into a few positions in the team. If not then we move on to other players. This is a unique situation because often we need players more than they need us, but in this situation it's fairly equal for both parties. If Griezmann seriously wants to win titles, he'd have better chances elsewhere whether that's with us or another club.

Relax he is a player and didnt want to screw over Atletico because of their ban. Why the feck would he care about fans getting excited over him and it not panning out?

Also hes not going to sign for Real Madrid directly from atletico.

Ronaldo was subtle? Yeah, with that "slavery" comment and the repeated "I don't know where I'll be next season" spiel, sure... Depending on where we stand next summer, we should definitely be back if we need him.

As much as I wanted him this summer, I'm not sure paying £85m on a 1 year older Griezmann next summer is the best deal and I'd rather we paid it on say Dybala.

Also, I've thought this thread should have been locked a while back as it's mostly jusf caf members going on a rant. Surely now that he's revealed he's staying and has signed a new contract, it's safe to assume he won't be leaving this summer and it is a reasonable time for a lock?

Doubt if he really wanted to make a statement. That is likely the clubs idea in doing so it has made it difficult for him. Herrera had the same problem at first with Bilbao fans after the Moyes farce. He just got on with his work and kept his head down.

Did never believe we'd get to sign him so not too disappointed.

Let us put this to bed and move on.

Not a chance that the release clause will be higher. This is to pay him what he could have gotten else where..

Compared to that Griezmann's 6/10 comment, and the declaration that he would be leaving Athletico are much more direct?

Missed his chance to join us. I can imagine if Spurs doesn't win anything next season one of Kane/Alli might leave and I can see us going all in for one of them especially Alli who Mourinho would want to mould into a Lampard

Well he obviously cares enough to go grovelling back to Atletico fans...

Regarding Real, we shall see.

I didn't want him anyway as I feel we have other priorities. But after this fiasco and the character traits he has revealed I would not welcome him at Manchester United ever.

Said 6/10 he'd be at United, but also said 7/10 he'd be at Atleti! You can debate the mathematical ability, but 7>6 when last I checked. Ronaldo didn't hide his love for Madrid till that transfer fell through. He also said openly that he'd love to be at Madrid as long as they paid what United were asking. No ifs and buts there and no games of x/10 etc. We can all see through Griezmann right now because it's recent and he's on the other side, but back then, it was very blatant from Ron. Let's face it, Griezmann hasn't (yet) likened himself to a slave...
