Not Muller's greatest game but that goal at 7.00 (match-winner at 88th min) though , a rainbow flick that even Ronaldinho would be proud of. Glorious stuff

Cheers Joga. His qualifying exploits for that WC qualification were arguably greater in terms of individual impact than the tournament itself(as crazy it might sound). He was absolutely decisive in all games scoring the crucial goal and clinching winners in the dying minutes. Great player.

It's a crazy record. He scored in every qualifier and 1970 WC games he played in, except for the 3rd/4th playoffs.

Very nearly did the same for the 72 Euros, but Germany played it safe in the return legs against England and Poland, protecting their 3-1 aggregate scores.

You're a freak @Joga Bonito and I love you for it. How much time does it take you to create one of those videos? It's incredible how much effort you put into it, truely amazing.

Initially, I used to watch matches, note down the timings and then make the videos. Needless to say, that was time-consuming .

Now I load the matches onto movmaker and just edit/trim it wherever said player is involved, as the match progresses. So it's basically akin to just watching a match with minimal added time or effort in making the videos. I guess that's how everyone else makes videos too, so it really isn't that time consuming or there isn't too much effort involved tbf. I love watching classic football matches anyway so it's more of a leisurely activity.

Also I generally don't bother making videos of players of whom there is already sufficient footage of them online, but of whom there isn't much to go about - Robson, McGrath, Law, Netzer etc. The lack of compilations of Gerd Muller is criminal though, there's just that one good comp on him against Real and a few half-arsed ones.

This box has a huge pool and tons of my favourites in there, but I'm not looking past my captain.

Man on a mission.

EURO 68 as well, although only 3 games he still managed to find the net 5 times.

It's great to see some compilations from him off the games directly as his all round game is often underrated and thought of a pure striker/goalscorer. Low center of gravity, explosive movement and always buzzing around and in the box.

Well, I used to think making gifs was a momentous task and required lots of work :nervous: before @The Stain helped me out. Also feel free to PM me whenever you can.

I'd sure appreciate a bit more Schuster compilations, especially from his time in Real and Atletico  @Joga Bonito

Also came across this excellent video of Müller when I was searching for compilations of him. Was generally annoyed to 'only' find goals but this one is well worth the time. The manouevres, ball controls, turns and god-knows-what-else he pulls off in the penalty box is just mesmerising.

He might not have been the most aesthically pleasing player but in terms of fashioning chances for himself from out of nothing in the box, he is right up there with the best of them.

@Joga Bonito stop posting Müller, he is a thing of the past, Gigi Riva is the new black. Proven by the famous "guess the outcome" method.

I'm off to bed and there's no chance this is reaching me by morning so I'll stew over 3 or 4 options until then. No doubt wake up to most of them being gone

Yeah think there is more of him in Barca shirt and of course the EURO(seen the games before).

I've looked for more videos of him when he won La Liga in 1990, as that was the year he was played as a DLP by Toshack and he clicked after a so so season before, when they got humiliated by Sacchi's Milan and Beenhaker was sacked. Then at Atleti he and Manolo/Futre pairing were pretty entertaining to watch and probably he played his best football in that second part of his career, even pushing Real/Barca to the title run.

It was like a fairy tale end of his career winning back to back Copa del Ray's whilst Real didn't maximize his talent and let him go after just 2 seasons, whilst he proved them wrong just a year later.

And that:

"As a youngster, the player I looked up to was Bernd Schuster. When I got put in central midfield, I used to watch him play and I'd be transfixed." - Xavi Hernandez on his early influences.

Was a huge influence for Xavi and I've seen some interviews that he used to base his play around what he has seen of him.

Of course the early and older version as you said are pretty impressive in their own way, a bit like the young/older Scholesy incarnation, molding his play to equally devastating effect in a new position.

Round 7 - Special Event

Use the Default Criteria and pick a player for the manager next to you in drafting order. This player WILL HAVE to play for 1st round and cannot be injured/dropped during rest of drafting.

E.g. P-Nut will pick for harms, harms will pick for Tuppet and so forth till Ecstatic/MDFC picks for P-Nut.

No GKs can be allotted.

Rules:

- No Sheep players to be allotted.
- You can have discussions with those who'll nominate the players for you, ask for players in preferred positions etc, but all discussions need to happen in this thread. No PM negotiations. MANAGER CANNOT ASK FOR A SPECIFIC PLAYER. Best you can ask for is a position and get what the previous manager nominates for you.
- Final decision on player quality, choice etc rests with myself.

ALL DISCUSSIONS TO START AFTER P-NUT MAKES HIS PICK FOR THIS ROUND.
