How would you feel if Rooney smashed it at Everton?

Zlatan in his 30s has arguably played some of his best football. Now this is no comparison, more of a case study that it can happen.

Rooney has not shown real form for about 3 seasons so it feels unlikely that it will suddenly come back, but that said a new routine, a change of fitness programme, maybe a reduction in pressure and competition and Rooney might regain some form.

So the question how would you feel if Rooney found some 9/10, 11/12 form and scored over 30 goals in each of the next 3 seasons. I'll leave it at 3 seasons as at 35 few go on from there and it looks an ask for Rooney to even get that far.

So let's call it him making an unlikely Everton ton?

I personally would be thrilled and happy for him. It would be sad he couldn't find that form for us, but he is a legend and it'd be nice to see his career be more than it has been in the last couple of years.

The main disappointment would probably be the hindsight of saying how do we have a player of his history, marketability and potential skill and get no money for him, unless of course you believe the £25m valuation which would be fair.

I'll be happy for him as long as he doesn't excel against us, and as long as Everton stay well behind us in the league.

But if he had a season or two where he scored 15-20 goals let alone 30+ goals while actually playing well, I'd probably be very shocked and confused. But that's not going to happen. There's a better chance that Januzaj moves to Sociedad and becomes top scorer in La Liga and wins Ballon d'Or in the next couple of seasons. I doubt Rooney's even gonna start 20 league games next season.

Never, ever, ever gonna happen. I would be suprised if he scores more than 5 in each of the three seasons. His legs have conpletely gone; there's no way back now.

I fully expect Rooney to start very strongly at Everton. The emotion and adrenalin of it all will see to that. Before long, however, he'll revert back to something resembling his more recent form. It's an unforgiving league, and the drive and aggression with which he used to play has been lost. Physically, he just can't do it anymore on a consistent, sustained basis. He'll always have moments of class, but the Rooney of old is gone for good.

It is actually crazy how far Rooney has fallen as a player. A guy of his history should not be finished at 31...or as some might argue from about 28/29!

Some players are quoted at crazy money at the same age! Yet Rooney we may have even part paid his exit, i.e funding some of his salary.

Its not even like he has suffered a substantial injury like many players whose careers have taken a nose dive.

And Rooney has taken very poor care of his fitness. Don't get me wrong he was fantastic for us during most of his Utd career but something has clearly happened to his body. He can't even do the fundamentals anymore.

He won't get near that amount, a successful spell at Everton for Rooney would be 10-15 goals and 5-10 assists in each of the next two years. And even that is probably an optimistic amount.

I would chalk it up to the change refocusing him and would be glad for him overall. Would not think he would have done it in the United team even if the games and minutes were the same, so would have no regrets about his leaving.

Nothing really. He was done for United and on a decline for over 4 years. Im happy hes gone and its not meant as disrespect. But we needed to move on for some time.

He might have a decent start but I expect it to fade. But good luck to him I guess.

The last straw for Rooney is that a new challenge will reinvigorate him so I hope a move back to Everton gives him the motivation he needs.

It would be a shame to see a career like his dwindle out on a low.
