What's the bigger picture? CL qualification and runner-up to Bayern is the highest I can see them finish in the foreseeable future. They can't attract top talents either without the status of a big club and no big wages to offer. Could be wrong though, but at the moment it doesn't seem like they're starting a City or PSG-like project. Imo they overachieved this season and will find it extremely hard to do better next season, with or without Keita.
Of course they'll struggle to repeat their last season. Yet they are playing the long game. In the long run they'll compete at the highest level. They have the financial muscle (RB+strong domestic market as sole eastern German top club), the patience and the competence (RB is already successful in other sports and rangnik is one of the best DoFs in the world).
There is always a tiny chance for almost any transfer, but in this case everything speaks against it. Selling keita makes no sense at all and goes against anything they did during the last years. He could easily be the difference between finishing top4 and missing out on the cl. That's much more important for them. Not just for financial reasons but because they want to establish themselves among the european elite.

Obviously Liverpool is entitled to still pursue this transfer (keita is a fantastic player and most clubs would be happy to get him,) but it is a longshot at best. Your management would be really stupid not to look for alternatives if you still need another cm.

I would hope we already have alternatives.

There are seven founding members of RBL. Dietrich Mateschitz (Owner), Chalerm Yoovidhya (Co-Owner, son of the original co-founder), Oliver Mintzlaff (GM), Andreas Sadlo, Joachim Krug, Rot Weiss Ahlen, and Ulrich Wolter. Ralf Ragnick was originally coach of the club and then promoted to Sporting Director. So you can see just how Ragnick can be outranked on such major decisions where money is involved!
A founding member is not an official. Out of these names mentioned above only Mintzlaff (CEO), Rangnick(DOF) and Wolter(Director Finances) are employed by the club. And Mintzlaff has been saying exactly the same things as Rangnick. And I'm pretty confident they wouldn't have taken their stance, if Mateschitz wasn't backing it.
And btw, Rangnick was the DOF from the very beginning. While it's true that he coached them for a while, this only happened because Rangnick wasn't able to get his desired man for the job. I think it was Tuchel at the time, could be wrong though, would have to look it up.

So, there is a definite need for an agenda by RB Leipzig to "appease" their hardcore supporters when selling some of their top players. What you have to understand is that information flow is never seamless. It can go from "appeasing" fans and continue to "buying time" to find replacements for outgoing players. What is so difficult to understand?
I have yet to see any kind of "If Keita goes, we're going full on apeshit" tendencies among their supporters. And do you really think they would do themselves and their credibility any favour by playing hardball in the public, only to tell them "sorry, it was all just negiotiation tactics" a couple of weeks later?
Sorry, but to me it just seems that you are trying to spin any contradictory circumstance to somehow fit in your done dealio for 65m story.

Of course they'll struggle to repeat their last season. Yet they are playing the long game. In the long run they'll compete at the highest level. Well they brought in another 2 high potential prospects in Bruma and Augustin. Their attack looks pretty amazing on paper now.

There is always a tiny chance for almost any transfer, but in this case everything speaks against it.
I could see it happen, if Liverpool were to venture into the "truly silly money" area, like something 90m € plus. But for 75? Hard to believe

Selling keita makes no sense at all and goes against anything they did during the last years. He could easily be the difference between finishing top4 and missing out on the cl.
Not only that, he could also be the very difference between going out in this years' CL group stage, and making it into the R16 or even the quarters, provided a favorable draw.

Ha Ha, can see the schools have let out, no homework to do?
You're supposedly our rivals, is it really surprising that we discuss your unethical/illegal activity of tapping up a 12 year old kid, falsifying documents and financially ruining that family financial stability? Poor you, the double standard on man united forums that we gloss over one story when what your club did was much worse. I hope there is an MP investigation. You've been caught tapping up twice this transfer window.

It's understandable why RBL are so determined to keep the likes of Keita. Not only do they need to keep their best players, but they need to add a few more too. Last season they only played a total of 35 games - 34 in the league & 1 in the DFB-Pokal - so a bit like us, it'll be interesting to see how they cope with the extra fixtures that playing in the CL will bring (assuming we qualify that is). Losing key players even before the season starts is going make a difficult job even more difficult. I just hope we haven't put all our eggs in one basket with this lad. It's quite obvious that money isn't the driving force for the German side.
It's odd we aren't linked with anyone else, same regarding Van Dijk.

Klopp seems quite cool about it all, but like you say they are 2 very important areas where we need to strengthen so we surely must have back up options, interesting to see how long we wait.

Also looks like Robertson is on his way from Hull - have to see if he is merely a back up for Milner.

Can't say I disagree with any of that :) I hope Keita having his heart set on a Liverpool move (supposedly) can shift the odds in our favour, but if he accepts his future at Leipzig for at least one more season and they don't want to sell at any price, our chances go from maybe to pretty non-existant.

He's definitely better than Miller, starter for sure.

That might be difficult. I was surprised myself to read recently that Milner has some of the best LB stats, not only just in the PL, but for the whole of Europe. I think Robertson will start as backup.

I genuinely rate Milner as a LB, I was really surprised by how well he did in the position, but I think Robertson is absolutely class. He's going to really impress at Liverpool and could go on to be one of the best LB's in the Prem . I agree that he may start as a backup, but I reckon he'll cement his position as first choice in the first half of the season, with Milner filling in everywhere.

Can become one of the best LBs in the PL? Let's not get carried away.

What stats is that? IIRC it was because he scored around 10 penalties he was rated higher but what are these stats?

Haven't seen the interview and only read in the media, but Klopp saying no one wants his players? That sounds weird and demoralising. Is he angry at Liverpool transfers or is he losing it?:D

Blonde kid about 16 Plays for Liverpool under 18s and if I am not mistaken has also played a few times for the under 23s. Looks a decent player but how many times have we said that and a few years later he fades into obscurity

I thought Milner done very good for the first 2/3 of the season. He just looked knackered to me in the final 1/3 of it. Expected to cover all the park on that side too, all the way from back to front.

When you've got Moreno sat on the bench raring to go, as well. I'd have been starting AM quite a lot more often, meself.

Can't find them at the moment (it was about a week ago I saw them so that's a lot of history even with the search function) ! It wasn't related to penalties/goals though. THis is the only one I can find so far ;

Is Markovic a squad contender at all? He's quite a good watch.

And there's the Emre Can - Most Promising Midfielder in Europe - situation to resolve isn't there?

Markovic is on the way out - 100%. Watford made an offer which wasn't accepted, he'll be gone this window. Lots of promise he failed to fulfill.
Can is on the verge of signing a new deal - supposedly it's been agreed and is off to the lawyers to finalise. If he left we'd be desperately thin at CM. Lucas gone too so we either need to do the Keita deal or find someone else because Henderson is a walking sicknote and can't be relied on any more I'm afraid and that just leaves us with Can and Wijnaldum, both of whom I like but it's simply not enough even though I reckon we'll play only two CM with either Coutinho or Lallana just ahead of them, then Salah, Firmino (Studge) and Mane as the front three, this season.

Kevin Stewart has left the Liverpool squad to sign for Hull City. Deal could be up to £8m.

Good fee. He had no future at Liverpool.

Rumour of Kevin Stewart going to Hull on a permanent deal, maybe in a swap for Robertson.

That comment indicates Nostradamus was probably more correct than BigSky but I so wanted BigSky to be right. :( But GraemeKelly and BigSky are still very adamant that a deal is done so I will not lose all hope just yet.

This was your year to get him, if he continues his development and with the clause he'll have next season everyone will be going for him.

He also seems to think RBL debts are an issue, if Liverpool think this is a question of money then they have no clue

rbl: "We won't sell him under any circumstances!"
Liverpool: "we are confused that they rejected our offer."

Milner is one of the best lbs in Europe like Lucas and Can are two of the best midfielders. I remember that a certain fan "backed that up" with some stats so it must be true.

That was truly awful, I had to turn it off after Milner started speaking.

Disappointed the Keita transfer won't be happening, we should throw 2/3th of the fee at Roma for Nainggolan or someone else like him. I hope to God we don't sign 2 average midfielders for £30m each now.

In fairness, Milner really WAS very good at LB for most of last season

May very well be. But I'm following this more closely from a Liverpool website. The latest there is (and obviously its just twitter crap as always) Keita is now 'injured' and his agent is in Hong Kong where Liverpool are currently staying until the weekend. Not sure if that is further bull, but this is all we have to go on during muppet phase right?
