Lukaku isn't a hard man. He is big but as you say he needs to develop a nasty side. Other teams love to stop United and will soon make sure he cannot get in behind, so he will need to be able to fight for his goals as well. There has to be a Plan B style with us or we will have the same problems.
So far we've played him in a 3-5-2 and a 4-3-3 and he's not looked ideally suited to either, having someone close to him to pick up his first touch and create another threat to the CB's to open up space for him will probably be required, I can see Mkhi operating as a #10 in a lot of games.

Can't wait for next seasons games against Chelsea with this whole Morata/Lukaku episode. We cannot lose otherwise I won't be on social media after the game.

Meh. For me Lukaku is the better player. But I get the people who wanted Morata over him. If Real do sell him now for less than what we had offered, feck them. Chelsea will get a good player, but it is clear that Lukaku was the first choice for both teams. He'll take his time adjusting to the league and I just can't see him scoring as many goals as Lukaku. It is of course a downgrade for Chelsea. He is just not a great player for me, doesn't particularly excel at anything. Lukaku has been more effective than him, even though he has played in a far inferior team than Morata.

Be interesting to see how he fares for Chelsea if they do sign him. I think he suits Chelsea more, just like Lukaku with United.

If only it will be isolated to those two games, every time Rom misses and Morata scores in a game week people will be kicking off on here.

No probably not, but I don't think Lukaku will make much difference either if we don't strengthen more and the other players don't pick their game up from last season. The lack of goals was our achilles heel, he will not change that as he will get the goals Ibra got. The rest need to step up. I would have preferred us going hell for leather and getting two strikers. I can still see us being set up cautiously.
Thats exactly my point, Lukaku or Morata and we still have the same problem.

Our biggest problem is poor contributions by the rest of our forwards.

Morata going to Chelsea doesnt change that.

Good news, I don't think this guy is reliable enough to lead the line for a top side. He's also a clear downgrade from Costa. I am pleased they didn't buy someone like Aubameyang.

Although I don't look forward to see the moaners in full force every time he does something good.

Gutted, I always had a soft spot for him. Got an uneasy feeling that he'll do well at Chelsea, though I have faith in Lukaku delivering the goods too.

Will be very pleased if we manage to bring in Morata. Our front 3 under Conte is generally very fluid and i feel Morata will slot in very nicely between Hazard and Pedro

For a big guy Morata has very good technical ability and is a pretty decent dribbler. Feel he is a much better fit than Lukaku who generally plays best when he has space to run into

Perfect Costa replacement for them, he plays very much like him albeit more technical.

Key player for 2 title winning sides scoring 20 PL goals each time. His goals directly contributed to more points won than any other striker last season. If he wasn't a head case last season and didn't get nagging injuries in our last title winning season he'd have been even better. Don't know what there is not to rate. When on form I think the only striker that's better in England is Aguero.

Anyways, Morata will be a completely different sort of striker than we've been used to. Should be interesting watching Hazard playing with a striker who's actually very skilled. Good as Diego is, he's clumsy with the ball. Morata is miles better technically.
Form or not Kane is better striker.

Costa is the better player out of the two. Better finisher also. It's a downgrade to him as it is.
Don't think so he'll replace Costa with ease, but he has to prove he can lead the line for a top club for whole season.

Morata is a better all-round player but lukaku is a better goal scoring forward . If someone had asked me who would you take £75 for morata or £75 for lukaku, I will any day pick lukaku. We need goal scorers and lukaku will surely bring that.

Sad we couldn't also get morata because jose liked him but I am happy with lukaku.

I've got a feeling that Morata will be a better buy for Chelsea than what Lukaku will be for us. Lukaku is very one footed as well unlike Morata who can shoot with both feet and is faster as well. We tried to outsmart Chelsea and Real and I feel we may have to eat our words. Morata's very quick on the break and would have linked well with Rashford. Anyway, done is done.... I can't see Lukaku dribbling with the ball from the halfway line on the counterattack which makes getting a winger all that more important. Martial will improve but he won't pull a Ronaldo next season. We should go for another winger instead. I know Lucas Moura hasn't been a world beater or anything but his numbers are pretty good. In 37 appearances, he scored 12 goals and had 5 assists. At the moment, PSG are stacked with wingers and they've also been linked with Neymar and Sanchez. I think he would become available. He's quick and tricky and he's got a good work rate. He could perhaps develop in to a more productive winger under Jose like Willian.

Where does Kane hide in Europe.
Lets see.

Costa for Chelsea in CL: 15 games (12 starts + 3 subs) - 2 goals 2 assist.
Kane in CL: 3 games - 2 goals.

So surely not where Costa is hiding.

I agree. He is not a threat entirely on his own. Probably Griezmann would have been the answer, so maybe Mkhi, who has looked good so far. Then we might revisit Griezmann. Ed will want his big signing next summer.

Everything is going to be a Lukaku Vs Morata comparison now isn't it?

Also feck Real Madrid. Clearly just wouldn't sell to United out of spite

If some of those wasters from last season don't up their game there will be steam coming out of my ears. Lingard was atrocious. Pogba has to help his mate by not hitting the bar at every chance. Rashford has to bring more. Martial has to realise that when he gets a chance in the team he has to take it. We have to be a threat at corners and freekicks, which are a waste of time to us at the moment. Other teams are relieved when the ball goes for a corner against us. We need someone who can deliver a cross, someone who is a dead ball specialist. You knew Beckham would put the ball on a sixpence, that if we got a freekick with Ronaldo it was a surefire goal.

feck Real Madrid is all I can say. I'd never sell them another player again. Even if it meant losing them on a free to them. I know it makes feck all financial sense as all good businessmen are pragmatic, but the only reason we didn't get Morata was because Madrid's unwillingness to deal with us. We should reciprocate they next time the come knocking.

No we would not match the inflated price.

Chelsea have Costa to sell taking third net spend on a striker lesser than ours

I think because we dint match the price. And also because we have to play them in super cup so they were delaying till then.

Can anyone remember what our offered price was? I think it was something like 70m + 10m in add-ons Euros?

I get that feeling too. Not looking forward to the constant comparisons between the two.
Aye, I imagine this thread will be bumped at a rate the Danny Welbeck thread can only dream of.

Anyway... I hope the weather in London is proper shit for the next year

Wonder if this accelerates Costa's exit. We also may be bringing in another Spanish striker in Llorente.
