I don't care how old a player is. I don't care how much he cost. I don't care what his resale value will be.

And nor will anyone else if said player contributes to domestic or European success.

Very happy with this signing.

One more attacker and we're set for a full scale assault on everything.

Good signing - at a position we badly need to improve.

35m is also a decent price in the current market.

This feels awfully like the Hargreaves signing, not the flashiest name on the pitch but the midfielder that completed the midfield 'jigsaw' (and contributed to a PL and CL double)

This is the first short-term Mourinho signing, and I feel he will have a big impact this season. Chelsea will regret selling him.

Now for Dendoncker, Aurier and Perisic and we're good to go! :D:drool:

I hope this signing finally means we get to play in a 4-3-3, with Pogba in his preferred left midfield position, and with two wide forwards instead of deep wingers. It would give Mkhi/ Martial plenty of space to cut in through the middle or stretch the play as required. Matic could be a very shrewd signing for Mourinho as he brings maturity and good positioning in the deep midfield position, which is required in that position. For all the good that Fabinho does, he isn't a true holding midfielder nor the best positioning wise, an unsuitable fit for our midfield. Although, Dier could have been a good option.

Also, while a player like Perisic would be welcome into the squad, I think our left back position needs strengthening, which is ironically both our most covered and currently weakest position. Shaw remains injury prone, Blind has had a very poor pre-season, Darmian is average, Mitchell is unproven and largely untested.

Good signing this, a midfield of Matic - Herrera - Pogba is potentially excellent. Nice balance.

Would be happy enough going into the season as is now, but a touch of flair would be nice to add in.

damn @Noc-Z will be swearing with every post he must be super intelligent
It's not really the swearing by itself I have a problem with. It's the guys whole approach. If you don't agree with someone you don't insult them and swear at them. You can enter a sensible debate, or not. But no need for insults on here. He doesn't know me why does he care so strongly what I think? Ironically I'm happy with this signing. I just thought "smashing it" was hyperbole.

A great signing for the here and now, no bedding in the PL needed, has a clearly defined position and experience to boot. Welcome Matic

Fellaini, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Pogba, Matic since 2013.

You don't find those enough of a joke?

This is always in hindsight, ofc, but sometimes not signing anyone is better than signing certain players
You should have told your board that when they signed Douglas turan Gomes Vidal and alcacer

Initially I thought it was way too much money for someone with no sell-on value and who haven't been good for a couple of years but if he's one that will free up Pogba and help underperformers like Martial and Hreigurkh Michi raise their level to match their talents, then this will be a good signing. It helps that Mou really wanted him here.

Anyway, let's leave the whole "ffs" thing alone now, and all be pals again. Noc-Z's going to be a good sport and accept that no-one was swearing at him.
