How long has Sancho got left on his contract? Can United offer him a contract now or will we have to deal with City?

Contract is up this summer. He can move abroad and the buying club would have to pay £200k or if he moves domestically a tribunal will set the fee if we can't agree a fee with City. There is some talk of him moving to Germany or even moving abroad for one season and then to us to avoid us paying a bigger fee, like Spurs did with Fryers.

hopefully we don't do that, it sets a very bad precedent and there is a good chance of it snowballing.

Yep. Lets hope he doesnt pull a dick move like Fryers. If he wants to move to another English club, wherever it is, just go and let City get the compensation. Will be a few million.. If he is that highly rated, clubs should be fine with paying that.

If he moved to Red Bull or Dortmund he should stay there for a few years. What better place could a young winger develop?

I thought his current contract was to run until summer of 2020, I'm not sure if the rules are different for youngsters at such an age, mind you.

Depends if he signed a professional deal. Did he?

According to the papers he hasn't signed his first professional contract yet and is set to leave City this summer. Supposedly he has been AWOL from training recently too.

A youth player must be looking at United as the club to get your chance and Man city as the one where you won't. So it's smart from Sancho if he makes the jump.

Rashford made 53 appearances last season. Did a city youth graduate even play?

City haven't brought a youth player through in years, probably ten years or so. We have been winning trophies with academy graduates on the pitch the past season and still contribute far more top flight players than any other club.

Would be bloody brilliant if we got the biggest talent from City's youth ranks.

Doubt it'll happen though. Even if he wants the move he'll somehow end up somewhere else. I'm pessimistic like that.

Does him not reported to training multiple times stink a little bit of an attitude problem? He is young granted, but maybe the hype of him being the next big thing is making him think he is better than what he is.

Jose likes loyal players with the right attitude, doesn't seem like this lad has that

I am wary of his attitude TBH. He seems to fancy himself a fair bit and missing training is a bad sign if true.

It would be worth it to annoy City though.

If Pep hasn't taken him on tour because of contract talks, why should he be committed to their cause?

Leaving the club, probably in dispute with them. So he must have an attitude problem? i love the judgements handed down in here

So if one of our players simply didn't turn up for training on multiple occasions, that would be ok?

It questions his attitude and professionalism. if things don't go his way, he'll go missing. You won't get anywhere in football without the right attitude, that's the basic requirement

At the very least it is unprofessional though.

Who gives a crap? Staying motivated when leaving your current employer is tough. I don't expect a kid to be fully professional in that regard.
As none of us on here handle his time sheets, passing down judgment is just silly.

You have lower expectations than I have then.

Think the last one was Micah Richards unless you count Alex Garcia although I think he played just the one cup game, not really in the know for anything on the blue side.

From what I've seen of Sancho he looks to have a lot of potential and what better place than us to realise that potential, isn't he close friends with Angel Gomes as well ? I'd take Sancho based on his potential and even if it doesn't work out long term at least he'll be given a chance and it'll piss off City.

Realistic expectations of a youngster. Obviously you expect a kid to behave like an adult. Or maybe I doubt the rumours about him missing training. Who knows who cares. I'd be happy if United signed him, what he does at United would matter to me. At City he's done very well, but looks like his time is over there.

According the WC's website the U17 world cup is 66 days away, hardly "soon". Gomes is obviously hinting at a transfer

He looks like a real talent, reminds me of Zaha but doesn't look as raw even at 17. It's rumoured he went awol at city though? surely there's questions to be asked about his attitude.

Sign him up!

Pep does not like to work with players who want to leave, and Sancho was hesitating over a new contract, so he did not take him on the US pre-season tour. Sancho was pissed off and has responded by not turning up to training. It's unprofessional by him but he is only 17, and I can understand his reaction.

Don't really want an academy player who doesn't turn up to training just because he's not been selected for a tour, very unprofessional.

Easy now. See Jermaine Pennant; Ravel Morrison and countless other "nice lads who just have dodgy friends".

Not saying he won't be a star but let's non anoint him the next coming of Messi just yet.
No-one is donning him the next Messi, but I think he will be a star. Obviously it's down to a number of variable but that is just my opinion.

I've heard that he's been talking to BVB so can't be all that homesick. Claimed he wanted away from his home in Sarf Landon because of bad influences. Either he or his advisors are over playing their hand IMO.
Yeah apparently he spoke with RB Leipzig too, so I'm not too sure what will happen.

No idea if accurate, but I've read somewhere that it was also because of him being unhappy with City seemingly buying more and more attacking players leaving his path to the first team looking pretty much impossible. He felt he'd simply never get a chance there. Which might be fair enough considering how long it's been since they've shown any faith in a kid that is coming through.

He's 17. He's got huge potential and was left out of a pre-season tour and acted like a 17 year old. Arsenal missed out on Ibrahimovic when Wenger wanted him to do a trial and Ibra turned him down. They grow up

If there's any chance we can get him, we should be trying. A bit of ego in a youngster doesn't do much harm. And if you don't manage to coach it out of him, then what have you lost? It's only his own chances of getting into the first team that he can harm.

Sancho and Gomes.

I think he got left out because he didn't sign the contract City offered.
