Must've been nice for those slaves in colonial America, ancient Egypt, and elsewhere to voluntarily sign employment contracts and be paid among the top 1% of earners in their respective countries.
I was simply referring to the slavery comment made by Sepp Blatter.

Why do people think Barca deserve a fair price from anyone when they didn't give PSG a fair price?

Kicker says Dortmund will hold a press conference regarding Dembele tomorrow and that no new offer has been made by Barcelona since their weak bid has been rejected. To me that suggests they have informed Dembele that he has to stay or that they´ll put a number out there like a fake release clause. Love it or leave it. No further negotiations with Barcelona. I think they are ready to sit him out, cause his base salary is not very high compared for example to a Coutinho.

United should be all over this like a bad rash. No nonsense: Here's 150m Euros, take it or leave it.

He may say no, but not many will turn down a doubling of wages, especially at 20 years of age, with a chance to play for Barca or Real in 5 or 6 years with his best years still ahead. What a statement. Solve the right-sided problem and sweep aside the best teams in the world.

If Ed Woodward was serious about #MUFC ambitions he should prove it. Shake the world up.

So United should pay €150m just to (potentially) watch him go on another strike next summer when Real/Barca come knocking again? And besides, he's not exactly a Mourinho player. He's someone who needs a lot of defensive cover instead of providing it.

edit:
Bild supposedly reporting that Watzke is leaning towards giving Dembele another chance and that Dembele's side told them (Bild) he has come to his senses. According to them it's up to Bosz now, but given the huge sums at stake I doubt a new coach really has the power to exile him, especially since Barca appears to have settled for Coutinho.

"Not a Mourinho player".

If there are many more world class talents who are "not Mourinho players", people may soon start asking if the manager is the real problem, not the players? Surely the question should be, "Is he a Man utd Player?". And, the obvious follow-up question: "Is Mourinho a Manchester United manager?"

He certainly bloody thinks he is. But that means nothing.

And, no, re-read my post. I wrote 'in 5 or 6 years' re: Dembele. So United could get great service out of him AND get their money back if he still wanted to leave 5 years down the line. In which time, of course, a lot can change.

Reported offered wages for Dembele were 10M€ after tax, which would translate to 20+ before. Is United at this point willing to make him their best paid player? It is much more of a stumbling block than the transfer fee, in my opinion.

Sqaure root of BS, frankly. The Spanish charge tax on overseas image rights which we don't in the UK. It's why Ronaldo is in court atm. Barca are a club in serious trouble. They were destroyed on the Neymar transfer after the fact on taxes and fines, etc, and will just about make half their cash back on the buy-out. United have a huge opportunity if they are willing to slam their brass balls on the table.

Will they?

I have no idea, but Dembele is a perfect signing for Manchester United.

What image rights? Dembele is virtually unknown outside specialist circles. He is not a Messi/Lebron/Ronaldo type of an athlete, where a large amount of his personal income comes from image rights. If Barcelona is really offering him 400K/PW, you would have to either match that or come very close, it is as simple as that. Hypothetically, if his transfer ends up to be 150M€, i honestly can't imagine his salary being anything less...

I don't actually see Dembele faring a whole.lot better than Martial under Mourinho. So what would be the point of paying 150 million for him?

With Liverpool seemingly cracking first and Barcelona allegedly spending on Paulinho, it looks like Dortmund have won that staring contest. Now they just keep him suspended till those deals go through, Barcelona will lose interest and Dembele will get over it. And who knows what will happen in 12 months. I´m actually surprised that it was Liverpool, who blinked first.

Dortmund rightfully wont change their stance and Barcelona dont look like they would come anywhere close to what Dortmund demands. Its another good example that Dortmund wont be bullied by anyone. If Barcelona or Dembele think they can play their dirty games with Dortmund, then they will soon recognize, that they are going to achieve absolutely nothing with it and they are going to lose the battle and looking like total fools.

..but I m sure the countless clueless 'Dortmund are a selling club' posters wont stop in the future.

Barca really lost a lot of sympathy after this (forcing Coutinho and Dembele to pressure their respective clubs like this).

Well i hope BVB stays strong and don't let him move at all (or only sell to their condition). After the window is closed he will forget about it, as he surely wants to go to the world cup next year.

I wonder how the ECA's meeting really went. Some clubs were bitter about PSG according to Aulas but surely the same was true about Barcelona?

I don´t see how anyone can be bitter about how PSG conducted the transfer business. They paid the release clause. End of story.

You can rightfully be upset, that they do not come close to financing these transfers from their true football related revenue stream or that human beings die daily from the labour conditions and standards they have set in their own country, when they clearly have enough money to change it.

Dortmund don't want to sell either.
And they don't have to as there is no release clause.

If they do sell it will be on their terms.

Barcelona could do absolutely nothing to stop Neymar leaving.

Dortmund have all the power in this situation.

Barca negotiated the price in advance when they signed the contract with neymar. They could have demanded a higher clause in return for higher wages.
Dembele could have demanded a realistic release clause, let's say 100m, and reduce his wage demands.

Neither did. Both agreed to the contracts signed.

I said it before, if Barcelona don't like the asking price for dembele, they should look for another player instead. Saying the demanded fee is unreasonable, but finding no alternative player offering a comparable package is just bulls hit.

You talk like this is a surprise? This is what they ALWAYS do with big players they want to sign. They force the player to be the bad guy in these situations so as to bring down the price. Real fecking cnuts they are.

With the kind of football we played today, why wouldn't Dembele want to join us? He would fit in here right like a glove on the right side of a 4-2-3-1 (with Pogba playing slightly ahead of Matic). We played with Mata today (who was amazing) but Dembele with his pace and trickery would have us bombarding the oppositions half with goals.

------------------ Lukaku -------------------
Rashford/ Martial - Mhikitaryan - Dembele
--------- Pogba ------------------------------
--------------------- Matic -------------------
Blind --- Bailly --- Lindelof --- Valencia ----
---------------- De Gea ----------------------

That's a pretty scary team to face in Europe.

Would you take 5 seasons of him before we sold him on? I know I would. Make it happen.

Well the 2 week deadline is effectively the close of the transfer window isn't it?
Speaking to Kicker, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told Kicker: “The time horizon is enough for two games,” meaning Barcelona have around a two week deal to make a move for Dembélé
