Completely agree. Martial is a much more refined and better technician. He doesn't work as hard as rashford though.
Martial has a much higher ceiling in my view.

Martial has a much higher ceiling in my view.
He'll surely be dropped next week. It's only right though, and the competition is like it was in SAF's era. It's all good.

He was our best player in the first half imo. I hope Martial starts the next game but no need to shit on Rashford because Martial had a good game.
He runs about a lot so people think he's better than he is. He's not a patch on Martial.
So many times Lukaku asks for the ball and he just ignores it and dribble, needs to get his head up
Marcus will be fine, he just needs to have some patience and not listen to any over the top praise - just get on with his development.
I love Martial, but like I said in his thread, I actually think coming from the bench for a bit is good for him. In the meantime, having him and Rash share the role is no bad thing.

Much harder to score from the start when the game was competitive in fairness to Marcus and he kept them honest.
Martial as much as I usually prefer him to Rashford needs to put in that sort of quality when he starts. So let's wait and see how this one pans out before people shit on Rash.

I thought he was our best attacking player for most of the game. Martial is definitely benefiting from teams being more open vs us in the later stages of a game.
I see where you're coming from but at their best, Martial is simply better than Rashford. I'm so glad we've got both of them though.

I understand but I've seen some jump on his back for his poor decision making, something almost every 19 year old suffers from. Martial needs to start for me too.

Getting his head up won't do anything good if he still decides not to pass which he had done many times. I think he wants to impress too much but he goes by it (individually) the wrong way.

Rashford was poor today. Thats it. And I'm someone who has been mostly critical of Martial over the last year.
That's a consequence imho of him being anxious and wanting to do too much. I'm sure someone will speak to him about that and then we'll see how he gets on.
Probably because the defence is fecked from chasing Rashford for 70 minutes. Rashford is playing against parked buses; if he comes on with 20 minutes to go in the past few weeks, he scores in both games too IMO.
Rashford and martial gives us different options and headches for the opposition manager.
He still tries to do too much though and lacks composure in the box, he should have buried that one-on-one for example.

Agreed. He has loads of talent, but i don't think we can afford to let him practice on his end product in PL matches, that he can do on Carrington

Looked to me like the crowd got to him and he wanted to be the one to shush them. He took a couple of bizarre shots from miles out when promising attacks were forming, and just ran into clusters of white shirts.
Agree 100% with this, may have missed a 1v1 but was our most dangerous player. Also provides width, which is important. Would happily see him stay in the team.

Rashford has all the makings of being a match winner. He has the confidence to run at defenders and beat them pretty easily. Just need to work on his decision making. Times he shoots when he should pass others he passes when he should hit it. Very dangerous player and so happy he is a Red.
Was very good except for the chip. Should have buried that on his left. Think he had a similar kind of miss in the Super Cup final.

He's young....still a lot to learn....but still way ahead of loads of players at his age playing the same position. I really trust Mourinho to manage him the same way Ferguson would....he'll be fine and to be honest...played pretty well today.

Don't know why he insists on trying to beat every player on the other team. Less is more, he just ends up complicating things and running into spaces that don't exist. Would like to see Martial start against Leicester.

He was so clinical in pre season, burying the ball into the corners. No idea why he tried the chip! Would be more frustrating if we did not get the result.
He was our most dangerous player in the first half, far better than Lukaku who was pretty average today apart from the goal.
Coaching staff need to have a discussion with him re:decision making. That composure will come with maturity too.
Better finishing is a must! For all his qualities and talents he not merited to start over Martial.
