Sadly with no Lukaku I think Everton will flop tomorrow. He used to be the bogeyman for Shitty.
If Rooney was 100% set on leaving I think Fergie would have made him leave there and then.
Just think there was a bit more to it than Rooney simply saying he wanted to leave.
He may have wanted to leave at that point anyway but then obviously decided to stay.
I didn't expect massive loyalty from Rooney when we signed him, he's gone far and beyond what anyone could expect from him surely? He wasn't an academy player, he's not from Manchester - what he's done for our club is surely outstanding.
No idea why any united fan wouldn't wish him anything but the best of luck.

I just think the reason why he came out with the quotes might not be black and white and whether he actually ever wanted to leave is up for discussion.
Because he publicly questioned our ambition.
Because he tried to join our rivals on more than one occasion (although obviously you refuse to believe that).
Because he never had any love for our club.
That about covers it for me. You are free to worship at the altar of Rooney, of course, but bear in mind that there are valid reasons why some of our fans aren't overly enamoured with him.
Why do we care where he smashes it in the twilight of his career? He looked lost in the Europa League and I'm sure Koeman's aware that he won't be as good as he was.
Our manager stated in a televised interview that he requested a transfer. I'm not sure what other evidence you require.
I don't worship the altar of Rooney whatsoever, I recognise what he's done for our club and the focal part he played in probably our most successful period of our football club. It was no coincidence that Rooney was a part of this.
I prefer to remember his footballing talents. I don't feel massively betrayed that he thought about leaving (yet again I don't feel we all understand the intentions there, I don't believe for a second he wanted to join city)
I don't even particularly like the man. Hes had one or two off the field antics that I couldn't forgive. I think the attitude that if a player wants to leave he's demonised isn't correct. Again, plenty of our top players have moved on from our club and are still thought of in high regard.
If a player wants to leave Manchester United then I say good luck to them - it's their loss. I'm not arsed they'll find out themselves it's a step down. Thanks for the service Wayne I'll remember you fondly. Scored lots, and some great goals for us I will always have memories of that goal you scored against city and the like.

This part I really don't get. You admit that he has no loyalty to us, no love for us. He was an employee, nothing more. Taking all of that into account, why wouldn't he consider joining City?

I firmly believe Rooney has loved this club before, also there is nothing to measure that he isn't loyal to use as he spent 10+ years at our club and gave his prime year to us which helped us to win many trophies.
I firmly believe he would never have gone to city and stand by that.
He's obviously more than an 'employee' in my eyes judging by the way I've defended him.
Everyone's entitled to have their own opinion of wayne don't get me wrong. I do get why people don't like him I just have my own opinion and I don't expect as much from him. He doesn't have any onligations towards united, I just thank him for his time here.
I know people get hung up about his pay packet but at one point in his united career he genuinely deserved to be our highest paid player - Wayne was an incredible player for us all things conserved throughout his united career (minus the last 2/3 years which I'll give him on credit for his incredible career)

Does it really matter what he felt? The only thing that mattered was he was terrific for us. Obviously way more so at the start to middle than the end, but he was terrific.
Only severely bitter people can't recognise that.

I'd be pleased for him, he played wholeheartedly for us and shouldn't be criticised for going back to his local club. Some things stay with a person from an early age, nowt wrong with that.
That it's not ridiculous to see players not play well preseason and then regain their fitness. Also those that suggested he's not even a PL level striker anymore.

I would feel very happy if he does very well at Everton. Our top scorer ever and 2nd best assister ever. Can't ask for more than that other for him to continue to make the most out of his career

Wouldn't mind if he smashes it against City tonight. Though I doubt Everton stand a chance. I was going to bet on a City win but the odds are so low that it's hardly worth it (1.30).
He's going to be a big liability for Everton tonight if he plays. You need workrate and discipline in the middle of the park against a team like City. Rooney's never had discipline, and his work-rate disappeared sometime around 2010.
