Nah if we invested sufficiently this summer we would have made top 4 again if not a title challenge.
No you wouldnt have. Not a chance, Never ever

You make the CL PLAYOFFS 2 times in 10 and think your a shoe-in for top 4! I really would like some of what all you deluded scousers are having!

And thats IF you had invested, which you havent. I genuinely think you will be doing well to make top 7 this season

(wont even respond to the "title-challenge" nonsense, I can see you were trying to have a joke saying that!)

Anyone got that gif again where some guy randomly pops up in the middle and another guy is having a stroke? It's not the gif where 1 guy has that delayed reaction.

Just imagine what a Matic type player would have done for them.

Strangely there are zero rumours or links to defensive midfielders.
Matic type player? Matic is a very very good DM but other than that he offers nothing. Its just that utd have steam rolled two easy games and every one is giving him a cult status. He was there too when chelsea finished 10th or something. Im not criticizing him but people are just Overreacting.

About his need ? Liverpool dont need a defensive cover , they are not leaking goals from open play. If anyone goes on to search the stats Liverpool come in bottam half in goals conceded from open play. Its the dead ball situations where its all dloom gloom. 2 players particularly moreno and lovren always come up with some individual mistake and leave the door open. Add to that the zonal marking shit, always late on first ball, late on second ball because no one knows whos ball it is

Offers nothing? Offers defensive protection, mobility, good passing ability, aerial ability and can even beat a man with dribbling if need be. He really is the catalyst for those victories. Its also funny you ignore the fact he was a first team player in both seasons they won the league with Mourinho and Conte. He let kante do what kante does, and provided the defensive solidity for fabregas to create the made amount of goals they scored at the beginning of their title win in 2015. I guess you have to be a braindead liverpool fan to think he offers nothing whilst at the same time being a very very good DM. Can you like, not contradict yourself?

No im not contradicting anything. He is a good DM which i have already said in my comment but thats all. He offers nothing in attack, no goals and neither among the assists. Dribbling or chance creations isnt great either. Offers nothing going forward.

If you have the habit of looking everything from a Liverpool fan - united fan perspective its your problem not mine

You said he was good but offers NOTHING. Good players do not offer nothing. And clearly he did offer things in attack as he made runs and passes that lead to goals in both games. He's a DM anyway so that's not his job, that's more Pogba/Mikhi/Herrera etc job. He's not a Carrick/Alonso player.

Also, funny how you think that's all I view things as from one post. You are truly an analytical mind.

cant believe were still seeing the unholy triumvirate of mignolet, lovren and moreno starting together this far down the road.

Brilliant attacking display. Adding Coutinho back into that will be tasty.

Hopefully go and sign VVD now.

I hold some hope for Moreno, he looks pretty dangerous going forward right now. But agree about the other two.

There certainly are questions to be asked of Klopp's sanity. Three seasons. Three fecking seasons he's watching some of that dross now and he's still persevering with it.

Did well over the two legs despite displaying some atrocious defending. Hoffenheim were awful, complete tactical naievity and Liverpool's attack as usual was excellent (mostly the 2nd leg). 1st leg they could have easily lost but very strong home performance. How they'll do depends on their group, they can do well if teams come out and play into their hands. Dont think they'll sell Coutinho understandably, although if I was them I'd bite Barca's hand off for that latest sum. Should be interesting to see how Coutinho plays once he returns from his 'illness'

Going forward, at times they are almost unstoppable but against top teams in the CL and with that leaky back five, they might need to score a lot of goals to win games.

They are easily stoppable. Hence why they had to sneak past Palace at home at the weekend. You sit deep and hit the ball over their high press and take advantage of their high line. Teams that are dumb enough to play a high line against them get what they deserve.

The defence is terrible, both individually and collectively. Errors and a lack of orginisation all over the shop.

Going forward we're fantastic when we're playing well. If Coutinho stays and you throw Lallana into the mix it's hard to pick the front five. Mane has to play and it's hard not to play Firmino at number 9 but I'm not 100% sure who qualifies as first choice after that.

Pretty much this.

Plus these midweek games will also likely affect their ability to run around like lunatics the way they did last season with one game per week.

Suspect they'll add a couple more players before the deadline mind which will help as long as they are better than the likes of Klavan, Lovren and Moreno.

They're going to concede, like a-lot! They don't look too great at all and better teams will expose them. Hoffenheim are rubbish.

In isolation, Lovren can be salvaged with good defenders around him. and minge is not that bad lately.

Add moreno, who dives in at will, to the mix though, is asking to concede.

One of them can be a starter in a pinch. All three is a disaster.

He's a dog. looks like a dog and thinks like one. throw a stick and hell dive right in for it. pretend to throw one and get the same result.

He is coutinho's bezzy mate though.

He's thick as shit but his athletic ability alone is an asset. I can see why Klopp thinks he can make something of him.

I also note the spawny Scouse cnuts have a second home game in a row in the league, rather than an away game somewhere like Stoke.

Two home games in a row eh?

Yeah our squad has major flaws, but hey, at least we made it through to the CL-proper. Happy with that for today :D

Oh how this thread would be booming right now if we had somehow conspired to feck it up tonight. Glad we did it and in style (attack).

Sarcasm aside, do you not think we played decent attacking football in both matches? Did you watch the match?
No one is doubting the attacking threat you have but, like last season you have major issues in defence and the goalkeeping department and until you sort those issues you out you won't be challenging for anything major.

If you were a Liverpool fan, what would you rather win, your 6th European cup or the league?

Yes, you did play attacking football. But Hoffenheim also seemed to be in mood for no defense football. Many teams in Europe defend well and hit given a chance. Pool defense was very meh and will get punished. I would be worried with the defensive performance.

the league. been too long.

once that's chalked off, i'd prefer a ec over another league title though.

Yeah I do agree. But those issues have been there for a long long time now, maybe it cant be rectified.

They truly have a good attack but surely they can't neglect their defence anymore.
