NICE!!!

Just having him around the team is a boost, let alone getting him on the field when the season starts getting serious.
Yes !

He will "teach" the team how to build winning mentality.

He will teach Lukaku/Rash how to do first touch, link up play, and bicycle kick !

Im so much more confident in winning the League now and doing well In CL. What a strike force, straight out of the Fergie Playbook.

Not only can he contribute a lot, I think we've learned from letting go of big dressing room personalities like Evra and Rio hence why we seem to be offering a coaching role in some capacity. He can teach Lukaku plenty to help improve his game, imagine being a team trying to defend a corner from Smalling, Matic, Pogba, Lukaku, Ibrahimovic and Bailly in the 80th minute.

Assuming he returns to the level he was at before his injury this is an excellent bit of business, it just shows as well that Jose is taking us places, no way would Zlatan rejoin if he didn't truly believe in Mourinho's plans. I'd love to see this lineup at some point, at home to one of the lower teams especially.

DDG
Valencia Jones Bailly Shaw
Matic
Herrera Pogba
Miki
Lukaku Zlatan

We could have Valencia and Shaw (please God) bombing down the wings to provide the width. We would have great options off the bench too. Romero, Lindeloff, Blind, Fellaini, Mata, Rashford, Martial

Jose is not deluded, who in their right mind would want to undermine their long-term striker? Same with Zlatan knowing that he's going to be merely a back-up, one hell of the back-up if he recovers fully mind.
Crucially, Raiola will agree.

I suppose he'll first deputise for Lukaku until he returns to form, and then play behind in that no.10 position with Mkhi taking Mata place on the right.

Can't complain really, we hands down have the best strikeforce in the league atm.

My only regret with this is that we didn't sign him five years back. He was utterly wasted in that tinpot league.

Neymar take note.

Too narrow. If anything behind Lukaku in a 4-2-3-1

Wow! What a great news to wake up to! If we keep all tournaments in the running by the time he rejoins, we will have better chances at more silverware to have additional fire power.

Really happy for him and us, it was a rough way to end a solid season from him and it'll be good for him to have a real sendoff, hopefully with more trophies.

He should not be a guaranteed start though/

Amazing to see him back. What a striker at 35!

You do not sign Zlatan. The Zlatan signs you.
The tweet says: " @Ibra_official has signed a new one-year contract with #MUFC!"

Hope he is not rushing through his rehabilitation process though.
He almost certainly is.

I snapped my ACL 25th February and had the best part of a month resting it and getting the swelling down. Then I did intensive physio and gym rehab across April and May with surgery on 25th May.

The prehab is as crucial as the rehab. A swollen knee is risky to operate on and can do more damage. This being said he might not have had the bone bruising I had or the meniscus damage and his physical condition would have been peak at injury so let's assume limited need for prehab and better equipment to help swelling.

Either way, Zlatan snapped his ACL and PCL and was in surgery a mere week after the injury. This is unquestionably quick and high risk for surgery. The plus side is there was unlikely to be any muscle wastage.

He would almost certainly have more time for rehab, constant physio and perfect diet. So the surgery risks were probably mitigated.

The risk is he over does it. Assuming he had a hamstring graft his hamstrings will require significant work to get back to strength, as fewer tendons doing all the work.

Additionally these grafts for the knee require care to avoid becoming too lax. This is where the rerupture risk comes in.

My expectation looks something like this. Running 3 months after surgery... I'm pretty close to this point, but not rushing to do it.

Even once running it's then 6 months of building up the movement and twists. So say 2-3 months into this period before should even be doing leg extension and kicking work.

All in Zlatan should not be back before February. But allowing for world class care etc maybe he could be back December, but every month earlier is a higher risk of re-rupture.

Personally I find the whole thing bizarre. I hope we have sensible contract provisions or otherwise are confident on the marketing/ coaching/ team spirit value.

Even if he gets back there is no guarantee of him being at the same level.

Enjoyed Lukaku's start, but there's little doubt in my mind that the team which has started the last two games would be even stronger with Zlatan leading the line. Spoilt for choice now!

Neymar hasn't gone for the league. He's gone for the $$$, champions league & ballon dor. That's for another thread though.

Anybody against this has lost sight of reality.

If lukaku is firing and we're flying by the time he's fit he simply will not be a starter.
If we're struggling then he'll be a welcome addition to mix things up he got 28 goals last season and won us a cup.

But most importantly, if we are in a title race, people against this move simply have no concept of the importance of characters like this when chips are down.

I for one believe in a bit of fate in football. I think he'll return around January, play a smaller but significant role and finish his European career with a title, and cement a United legacy with some key goals along the way.

The God is back. What a recovery this is. I just cannot wait to see him back in action and hopefully he can help push us to PL glory and make a stamp in the CL.
